I think it would be fun if they made RDR3 center around the height of the age of gunslingers. 1870's-1880's. Landon Ricketts would be a great protagonist, as would Black Belle. Being able to see all those characters that were on the cigarette cards could be a really fun storyline
I always said this. Others were asking for just sequel after sequel. When really we need to go back. Both the current games take place after the days of the old west are long dead. If we saw a game set in the 1870’s just after the civil war would be good. All the famous outlaws and some new faces even a cameo from a young Dutch and the Van der linde gang would be cool.

I actually like the idea of playing as a young landon rickets more than any other theory. There’s so many possibilities with a story line there while staying in the same red dead universe

Best theory I’ve heard is prequel and you play as young Uncle who is in fact Red Harlow. How he slowly changes from iconic legend to a drunk and lazy old man who always seems to be smarter than he lets on would be fucking hilarious.

I'm hoping for the Callander Brothers, I've seen some really good theorize and for me it just works. When you hear reference from the gang about them, they sound like characters that people can play, you hear good and bad stories just as if you have chosen high or low honour.

As much as I want a Jack Marston game, I enjoy the idea that the curse ended with him. The idea that he killed Ross, hung up the guns, and then became an author who died peacefully in 92. Jack deserves that after everything.
However, with that being said... having a Jack based RDR3 opens the door for a look into how those raised in the gunslinger gang life adjusted to the prohibition era gang life. Which would be interesting but also might feel like RDR did a crossover with Mafia.
We know Landon has the Dead Eye "ability" as he teaches John how to use it to it's fullest. So i kinda wanna see him in a RDR game, but i also really want to play as Hosea. Or Uncle, or Sadie around the early 1900's.
Uncle would be the best, his health condition, terminal lumbago, would lead us to a sad but compelling story
Probably an odd choice for protagonist but the traitor that Arthur vaguely mentions during the Dominoes game with Tilly would be an interesting way to approach the gang's beginning and glory days.

If they’re going to have you play as multiple characters, I would love for it to be Charles and Sadie.

For me, Red Dead is NEAR perfect. What would make it perfect in my eyes are the following changes:
1. Allow you get any gun in the game before certain missions or chapters so we can play how we want from the beginning (assuming we can get enough money)
2. Allow a bit more freedom to choose options, paths, trajectories, and tactics in missions.
3. Make honor more proportionate (I.e. if somebody runs into YOUR house, don’t make it a killable, wanted offense necessarily). Also, make it to where you don’t lose honor for doing things that the mission is forcing you to do; but maybe make it COST more, as in maybe committing dishonorable acts makes hurts other parts of the story (I know they do this some but still).
3.2 bonus: make it where being wanted doesn’t mean that everyone automatically KNOWS exactly where you are and can see you. Make it more progressive and based on sight & the spread of knowledge, as in if someone shouts, “I see him in the saloon” then the AI’s will go that way unless they see you.
4. Fix the walk mechanic in missions & don’t make us walk so DANG slow in camp or just as we approach a mission start. Let me Leroy Jenkins my way through if I want because it’s the obnoxiously slow to get through camp that way and to have to walk to do chores.
5. Make money and contributing MATTER in the camp, that is, maybe us not having food contributed regularly or money means players get weaker, more irritable, and missions less easily available perhaps. Honestly unless you want to buy a few things or upgrade guns, money usually doesn’t matter much at all other than to get a bit of honor for donating or helping someone.
5.2 bonus: make heists and robberies count more. Make trains have vaults & such or at least certain trains that are carrying special objects rather than a just all passenger cars (or that one early mission with a train. But why aren’t there more like that?? In the open world??).
For me, this would make it perfect in my eyes.
There's actually something for 3.2 if you change clothes and even change hair n facial hair, you don't get recognized easily😊
I think it would be cool if they did one about young Arthur, Dutch and Josea. Maybe do more of a gta style and let you play as all 3.
Need to see what happened to Dave and Jenny. I'd like a prequel closer to the wildest times in the west ya know.

Personally a new protagonist is my favourite choice possibly a gang leader or a lawman.
If they do make another one, being one of the Calandar brothers would fall in with what we are use to and we know the story ends with us dying and then taking over as Arthur. While it does make sense given how the first two played out, I think that is why they won’t go that route. Most of the people playing the game will already know the end before the first mission.
Here is another theory you can throw in there. Since it is an open world game and at some point they will probably want to separate you from the gang so you can open world in the prologue, they could have you play as John again. Don’t forget he disappeared for a year at some point in the past before returning to the gang. You could make the same argument for Hosea since he did briefly step away from this life in the past. Those are just two options if they wanted to keep the same members and story lines.
If they stick with the characters, you can realistically only go further back in time, however I think as it was mentioned in this video. Most likely we get a whole different gang. It would make sense for them to mention Dutches gang and all the other at time throughout the story but with the focus being of course on the new characters. It doesn’t even mean they need new locations, who knows they could have you actually run into the Ditch gang, maybe watch them shooting their way out of Valentine as a spectator. Just saying but I do think at some point we need to witness what happened in Blackwater. It was a pretty big deal and never truly resolved.
Also I would like the end game to have the same feel as the camps did and when the game ends to still have a camp with other members still around. That’s just me. They sort of did this with John, Uncle, and Charles in the prologue.
I feel like we know all we need to from the past. Sometimes showing less is more because it lets us do some of the work and some things are more haunting like the black water massacre. I would like to either see a new story or a continuation of jacks story.
I hope it isn't a continuation of his story. The shot of Jack with the RDR title next to him after killing Ross was the perfect end of the story.
It should take place in 1920, theoretically the final year of the Wild West where jack gets involved in the moonshine and bootlegging businesses

Disagree. I’d still like a Young Arthur game. There’s plenty of new characters that could be introduced, an entirely new state probably further out west with the game ending on familiar territory in New Austin, and I think plenty of room for a great story with twists and turns

It's a western set in the prohibition era.
Essentially, Willis is a lone gun slinger in a remote Western town, fighting against and for rival gangs.
It's set in the 1920s, but is dripping with wild west sensibilities.
Another avenue for a prequel could follow this idea: Red Dead Gangs of New York.
The 1870s set in the wilds nearby a bustling 19th century city. Perhaps a young Dutch and Hosea making their way in one of those besieged gangs. They wouldn't be the main focus of the story -perhaps a new character taking the protagonist role- but perhaps their path crosses theirs and sets the pair on their way.
When I first finished the second game, I imagined the third game would play as Dave Callander and his story would end after the Blackwater massacre.
The traitor arthur mentioned to Tilly, while in camp. Rockstar are willing to make minor retcons like the gangsplitting in 1899 instead of 1906 like in the original so I'd have this traitor also be a founding member of the van der linde gang. As a matter of fact, they would be Colm O' Driscolls brother, who discovers Dutch's true colours before anyone else but is killed by who more fitting then Arthur Morgan. I think it would be a great storyline.

personally I can see several options that I think are somewhat likely, The one I would like the most is another prequel to rdr2 where you play as someone like Hosea it could be set either in the very early days of the gang or later on and would end with the blackwater ferry job. We might also see a game where we follow Sadie's journey as a bounty hunter or what happened to her after rdr2 since that is left pretty unclear. Or we get a story about Jack which I think is probably the least likely since it wouldn't be much of a western I think it could be a good game, but not in the rdr series.
the final mission cannot be the Blackwater Heist, as RDR2 begins with the escape from it. This means that after the last mission, purely according to logic, we cannot move freely on the map.
i would like to see the early times of the Van Der Linde gang, picking up the other members & especially when Dutch & Hosea ran with Colm O'Driscoll & end with the Blackwater Massacre
When would there be time for open gameplay?
One thing my buddies have talked about is similar to this where Landon was the main character but almost a gun for hire type deal and works on and off again with Dutch Van Der Linde gang. Ultimately hired for the Blackwater job gone wrong, see what happened, what happened to Dutch killing that girl but the epiloge is Landon making his way low and slow to Mexico in lead up to meeting with John in RDR1
@@sienna.felbergProbably when they get through Tall Trees at the end of RDR 3. That's how I look at the moment. Cause I believe it would be great if the game was a prequel to Red Dead 2 surrounding Dutch's early young days, the formation of the Van der Linde gang and Dutch, Mac and Arthur being the playable characters, set in 1869-1899. Prologue parts 1 & 2, 2 chapters and epilogue parts 1 & 2.

I've said it before, I'm gonna say it again-I'd like to see Jack form his gang. And kick it off where RDR1 left off? I think that would be a good start, and in terms of the main playable character, it should be Jack's right hand man who can be customized by players. However, the rise of Dutch or story of Ricketts wouldn't be too bad either, but I think that my idea sounds better, just my opinion.
The cac aspect like Saint rows i like it
Following on the same formula as 1 and 2 - play as a younger Hosea and go through the golden age. Then, he runs off with Bessie (somewhere off the map and is therefore unplayable) and you play the Epilogue as Arthur.
I think of playing as Anabelle, during the golden years of the Van Der Linde Gang, her being kinda of a mom to Arthur and John, bringing the best out of Dutch, being a lengendary cowgirl, having worked with Landon Rickets and Black Belle, maybe meeting Red Harlow too
Rockstar can make any character work out really well in a story, that's one of their gifts. While this is not a game, take Daryl Dixon as an example. His character is one of the main characters, but he wasn't the primary one untill he had his own show, a show I think is doing really well. Sadie and Charles would make excellent protagonists.
I agree going backwards in time is best. What I really want, I’ll probably never get. Part of why I love RDR 2 especially is the immersion, really feeling like you’re in Westworld or something. Especially after John gets the farm. I’d love to play as a character who went west as a pioneer, to establish an empire like a ranch, and slowly we’re forced to become more and more lawless. All the big money characters in RDR own ranches or homesteads or even entire settlements. It would be so interesting to start the game a normal pioneer and end it a hardened gunslinger with a semi-criminal empire. This also allows for a lot of choice-based gameplay and alternate endings.
Whatever they do, I’m sure it’ll be great. So many good options, as long as they keep executing so well I bet I’ll love it.
I think a sequel focusing on Jack could be likely. That's a little past the Wild Western era, but it goes with the theme that the pursuit of revenge only leaves you worse off.
I think another route to go is a story where you play as Arthur’s sons. I know they said he died, but they could play it off as way for his son and mom to get rid of Arthur in their life.

Yeah, it wouldn't so much be the Wild West anymore, but it would at least be an opportunity to wrap up the story since Jack's now an outlaw.

Jack Marston in Prohibition era America would be cool as fuck, a cowboy lost in time, dealing with mobsters, gangs and the frontier
I'd love to see a more brutal take on read dead. Maybe after the American Mexican war, or the civil war. When life was even harder than it was during the turn of the century. With more of a desert setting, and with with big inspirations from Blood Meridian.
Black Belle and Billy Midnight would be my top contenders for playable characters. Maybe the whole gang kinda like a GTA type character selection but in like RDR’s singular character progression. I’d also like a game as Dutch and playing his role as he grows up or turns to his worse off side. Maybe Hosea? Honestly even Sadie. I’d love to follow up Jack’s story though or his growing up.
I was just naming characters I loved on the story so far (yes it took me 6 years to start RDR2’s campaign…) and seeing most of the names I put out there makes me glad.
Arthur had a son he didn't know about who fights the urge to follow in his father footsteps. Arthur junior and Jack have a coming to age story starting their own gang

While there, he learns from an elder Sadie or Charles that a rival rancher is eyeing his land. This revelation compels him to return and defend his ranch, all the while attempting to uphold traditional values in the face of advancing technology. The narrative could beautifully capture the evolution of Jack into a seasoned rancher, culminating in a glimpse of his descendants continuing the Marston ranch business in contemporary times. The story could conclude with an epilogue reminiscent of Yellowstone.
I mean its pretty much 1923 and Yellowstone lol, but that could make an epic game.
It really should be Mac Callander and end at the Blackwater Ferry incident. It would just round off the trilogy perfectly.

As no one mentioned about Mac?? The one that barely escaped then "mercy killed " by the Pinkertons, it would be cool if we play as mac with the gang before Blackwater. Even possible too meet up with Micah after chapter 2 & show why dutch keeps him around in the 2nd game.
But like possibly show Blackwater robbery at the end.. then showing how mac gets away after getting shot up, then running into the Pinkertons.. then we switch to a different character.. I wouldn't know who.. but yea you get what Im getting at hopefully

7:30, interesting theory. To play as a character who eventually will dies. Rockstar did the same thing with Vic Vance from GTA Vice City Stories. Victor Vance was a drug dealer in GTA Vice City who was killed in the beginning of the game. In GTA Vice City Stories, which took place two years before the event of Vice City, Victor Vance was the main protagonist and shows what happened that led him to being a drug dealer.
They did that with both red dead redemption protagonist, it's a thing that happens in every red dead redemption game.
I think that at first it will be all new protagonist like Arthur was in RDR 2 and then after his/her story, it will cross paths with Charles, Sadie and Jack. Could be a friend of Jack which schools him in shooting after John death, could be a girl which will be there for him after John death. Charles and Sadie will also be there for him as well helping him find Ross, then leading to RDR 1 ending, but in RDR2 way we will see more of Jack life after he killed Ross - maybe becoming somebody (writer? like in GTA5 is his book) with family and fullfilling his and his dad dream about normal life living in new times writing about Van Der Linde gang.
Also could be something like Jack writing this book from GTA V - collecting news and histories from Van Der Linde gang before he was born and remembering the times when he was there with them as a kid, and player will be taken to the flashbacks to know the whole story discovering it with Jack step by step. That way we could once again play as Arthur, John and other Van Der Linde gang.
I am very much a fan of the Landon Ricketts storyline because it would necessitate some acknowledgment of the Civil War (which I think would be cool from an outlaw/ gunslinger perspective), but it could also have the Van Der Linde gang's actions showing up and showing around throughout the years until the Blackwater Massacre, even if it's mostly a B-story going on.
The biggest thing for me though is that they go back and do another prequel so we can see Dutch younger. In a weird way, Dutch Van Der Linde is kind of the central character of both RDR1 and RDR2. We got the demise of the man in the first game,: the descent of the man throughout the second game; so for the third game, I think it is necessary to see the ascent of the man. He should never be a PLAYABLE character, but we need to somehow see his rise to fully round out the story of his gang.
I would love to see an RDR3 where you play as an aging Sadie navigating the final frontier of the old west. Even do it GTA V style have it swap between Jack, Sadie, and Charles.

I feel like Dutch or Sadie will be next. Maybe more so Dutch. The whole series is obviously about redemption. They could redeem the character Dutch by showing the noble, honorable side we always heard about before he went off the deep end. It would be bittersweet knowing how he turns out. We would also see young Arthur and John.
@johnnyoutlaw6534 I'd rather Dutch more than Sadie even though she's a badass character. Here's why; for the past 2 games, Dutch has been one of the key characters the most.
So that's why I believe Rockstar should make a prequel to Red Dead 2 set from 1869-1899 with Dutch, Mac and Arthur as the playable characters at different times. Prologue parts 1 & 2, 2 chapters and epilogue parts 1 & 2.

That way, everything is full circle now with the gang.

I’ll be honest, I know nothing about Canadian history, but the idea of Charles heading up there for a game sounds like it could be pretty cool.

Personally I'd love for RDR3 to follow *Micah.* Putting us in the shoes of Rockstar's single most despised character would be one hell of an unexpected move, and theres a LOT of room for exploration of how he turned into the scumbag we see him as. At one point in RDR2 Micah sets up a camp and we can explore it after he leaves, finding a bounty poster for Dutch back when he had a bounty of only $1000. That says that before Micah joined the gang he was hunting Dutch, which could allow for exploration of the gang from an outside perspective, giving more insight on their relations without treading old ground.
I think it should be 2 protagonists, the Callander bros. They seem interesting, would like to know thier upbringing and what led to the Blackwater Massacre
I think the Landon ricketts one is the most plausible. I would love to see it go into the prohibition days and have the map just be Lemoyne,annesburg, van horn, and two new cities to represent Chicago and New York
Personally, I think Jack is the best choice for RDR 3 he took revenge just like John did and in this franchise actions have consequences and “revenge is fools game”. No reason to force the game to turn into a mafia or World War I story. Just follow up immediately in 1914 a month or so after killing edger and go from there. The free roam epilogue section in rdr1 was still very much Wild West oriented.
WW1 started in 1914. But America didn’t get involved in WW1 until April 1917, we didn’t start drafting until May. But there is no obligation for ww1 to need Jack involved. The war could only be a thing you read about in the newspapers throughout rdr3 and that’s it.
As for the mafia angle as far as the RDR story is concerned the mafia has existed since 1899 with Angela Brontë. So to say a Jack game would *need* to be mafia I’m not really understanding the reason for that. Because by that logic, you could argue 1911 and 1907 could just as easily been the setting year of a mafia game with ppl using cars and other stuff like that instead of focusing on the rural American wilderness. So a jack story would only be mafia if you choose to design the game that way.
As for the west being over argument well that’s not entirely clear that’s how rockstar feels as of the ending of rdr1. Looking at the end of rdr1 when we play as Jack in 1914 the game world still looks and behaves the exact same way as it did in 1911. (on the American side of the map) gang hideouts still active, still not even one npc driving a car around the map, gang member Npc’s still exist in general, all lawmen don’t all dress more like the Blackwater cops, bounty posters still available. Thieves Landing still exists and still is a lawless area full of outlaw style in npc’s. Also Wild West style random encounters still spawn in the game *Now* I know many ppl’s response too this will be something like “obviously rockstar is going to keep that in the game so that way the game still feels western and people can still have fun despite the game being over, and players won’t be stuck with only the Mexico region being the only place left where Wild West style activities are still available”. But that’s the entire point if players were cool with that all these years and not a single person complained. Then, almost nobody is truly gonna complain about a Western style Jack being told. Technically even by Rockstar’s own Wild West timeline you could argue it doesn’t seem like the old west is fully dead by 1914 either.
Now if peoples real main core reason why they don’t want a jack story being told is cause they are done with the 1900s “end of an era stuff” then that’s completely understandable and fair enough. But when you try to argue in general that a western style Jack story makes no sense is an argument that I will never understand.
Would love to see the Golden ages in RD3 omg that would be awesome!
I'm voting for a Jack Marston story for rdr 3 after he takes his revenge it wouldn't be much of a wild west tale but still it can be a tale of redemption for Jack as he can go through a journey of self-discovery and realize that getting revenge has done nothing but continue the cycle of violence that John, Arthur, and Abigail tried to stop. It's possible he can run into an older Charles Smith and Sadie and he can learn from them and possibly find peace by the end and move on to become a writer I hope rockstar continues Jack's story.
Hopefully his redemption story includes ww1 as well. It would be so cool to see rockstar do a WW1 game
Oh and I forgot... Dutch as Protagonist were a good idea and See the Gang grew and the end would be the blackwater massacre. And then you can still play it like nothing would happend but also get some side Missions still
I think the best way to do it would be to have us play as one of the characters mentioned to have died in the gang just before and as rdr2 starts that way we follow on the trope of playing a story then dying and playing the end as the character we would be in the next game or we could go more between gta and rdr timeline with jack being our main character after rdr1
All these theories sound great but I especially like the Sadie Adler & Landon Rickets theories. Both would make for a very interesting story.
We already know something happened on that BOAT right before RDR2 starts that would be a climax and Mac Callender could be the main character who dies with hands of Pinkerton as a mercy killing this way will be the rdr3 if they make another prequel

1 day I'd like to see a RDR1 remake complete with mentions of the exploits of RDR2 and a couple of it's characters showing up throughout the game, while keeping the general story of the original game intact. I'd maybe scrap some of the wackier GTA-like elements and possibly make THE ending a multiple choice depending on your actions
What if RDR3 is somehow both before RDR2 and after RDR1? We play as a gang member and see the rise of the van der linde gang, how the gang was formed and maybe people's backstory. And then the blackwater massacre. We fight and see how things unfolded before RDR2. And the scene goes to Jack and we see that jack was reading Arthur's old diary which wasn't actually burnt but just got lost and he somehow found it. Then we play as Jack and see that happens. Idk tho my idea sounds bad to me.
I would like a story set more in the past, about say Dutch's grand-father on the frontier. Or perhaps Charles' younger years and growing up.
Id love to play as Dutch at his charismatic best. Him recruiting the gang. Looking after a young Arthur or john. Having the best intentions in the height of the gunslinger age. Bit of backstory of him much younger and how he got into this whole thing. Him losing loved ones which turned him to this or to save his loved ones. You could see Arthur with his kid and wife before they get murdered. Theres so much there.
At the end we can switch between Arthur and Dutch.
Uncle would be fun, the black water story gotta play out tho
I kinda hope to play as Otis Miller. And if they kill him off at the end, maybe you can play as Landon Rickets in the epilogue. Who knows, maybe Otis could have been Landon's mentor?

the only theory that makes sense to me is they’re telling one massive story backwards, so the next game will start at the height of the gang and continue up until the blackwater massacre

Playing on the side of the O'Driscolls, and encountering Arthur as a boss fight similar to the Vader fight in Jedi Fallen Order would be worth every day waiting

I have a theory for RDR 3:
Jack kills Egdar Ross and Ross's brother is an eye witness to it.. he somehow convinces the law that Jack is a menace and then he becomes a most wanted criminal with the highest bounty in America ... Jack escapes to Mexico, where Reyes, Who is now the leader, gives him Asylum as he is grateful to John Martson (Who is a national hero in Mexico under Reyes).
The year is now 1916 and ruling party changes, and because of World War 1 and US's potential participation, many files are closed and considering Jack Martson missing, the file is closed
Jack, who requests Reyes to give him anonymity and just to tribute his father, becomes a bounty hunter and helps in reducing the crime, takes out gangs and Outlaws and (or) brings them to law in Mexico, and is known by the name Joaquin Martinez (Becomes a legendary Bounty hunter)... marries a Mexican woman..
Jack Decides to go back to the USA with another American Identity..
Reyes, because of the power turns corrupt, becomes worse than Allende and becomes a Tyrant... because, Jack's wife was once caught by Reyes's men and sent to Reyes for his sexual pleasure.. Jack rescues Her just before she could get r@ped by Reyes... ties up Reyes and delivers him to the angry public who lynch and kills him..
In America, he starts a new life with the name John Roberts (From John Martson and Abigail Roberts) and helps Bonnie MacFarlane in her Ranch.. everything goes well, till one day, Ross's brother pays a handsome amount to a dangerous outlaw to kill Jack and his family... the outlaw kills MacFarlane and her dad burns down the MacFarlane ranch and creates a Havoc... killing many innocent souls... Jack fights and kills the outlaw and later on kills Ross's brother (His wife couldn't take the pain of Edgar Ross's death, So she died instantly after hearing the news of his death in 1914). Now, he has nothing to live for, a pregnant wife and him until, one day he is spotted by a govt agent, who recognises him, but instead of killing him or bringing him to the law, He asks him to join the army and help the British win the War (the year is 1918).. and his family and he will get a great life ahead... Jack fights the War but dies fighting...
When the war is over, He is posthumously awarded the highest gallantry medal. His family gets Handsome Pension, and a Jack's rank to his son when he comes to age. His son's name is Arthur-John Roberts (named after Arthur Morgan and Jack Martson)
Epilogue: The year is 2017 and Arthur is celebrating his 100th birthday with a huge and happy family and he tells the story his mother used to tell him about Jack, and shows his diary, stating the day he was martyred.. the last line says "My father always wanted me to work for the nation and never work as an Illiterate Gunslinger. To be a good man, to study. nNw, it doesn't matter if that huge Gun car, which is called tank, blasts me off, or that gas blinds me and Enemies kill me, I know, my papa and mama would be proud of me.. I didn't end up a gunslinger. Now, I am fighting, but for a cause, a selfless cause.. I came here for the money, Alejandra (Jack's wife's name) and my little Arty... but now, I understand, there are some fights we fight for the greater good.. for a selfless cause ."
Just before the credit rolls we see the life of Arthur-John through photos in his room . Which shows that he fought WW2, the Korean War and even the Vietnam War. His marriage, kids, family . Retired as a decorated General.. lives a happy life, surrounded by people who love him
The last part be like, he lies in his bed and closes his eyes with a peaceful smile.. indicating he passes away peacefully
Now, talking about the open world... After the death of Jack, We would be allowed to play as Jack but indicating the time when he came back to America and before the Outlaws destroyed MacFarlanes

I would love to see the golden age of rdr2, seeing arthur fake 3 catches of bass, seeing arthur and john join dutch, it would be sad but seeing arthur react to his family's death and to see his first bank robbery would be amazing.
I think it will go further back in time. With map sizes getting larger each entry I think they will put it in the 1890s all the way up til Blackwater with Blackwater being the epilogue. Throughout the game you see them grow the gang, and I think it'd be cool to see the further west you go the easier robbing is as the west was just getting settled when the east is already has large infrastructure. I'd also like to see way more opportunities to rob banks; houses; trains, but to call gangmembers in on it as well. I can't see it being terribly hard to have a menu at camp where you can plan out a bank robbery and select certain gang members with different skills. You wanna go guns blazing? Bring John and Bill you want to play it smart? Bring Hosea and Arthur.
I want spin-off games where we play as Jack Marston during his forced service in both world wars and life during the great depression where because of the economic collapse and already being an outlaw, he either starts his own gang or becomes more unhinged as a result of the world around him and becomes a solo outlaw that kills without mercy, essentially becoming what Dutch turned into but worse.
I think a story centered around a Jack Marston after RDR 1 could be cool. Like him on the run after killing Ross and set in the backdrop of a WW1 America. He could go the route of the classic American gangster which would be a lot of fun. Or even him leaving the U.S to avoid the draft and go to Canada and find Charles or meet Sadie along the way. Lot of possibilities
Do we know much about Sadies husband? If the leak about her being a character in RDR3 is true, it could be cool to play as the husband trying to get away from gang-life and becoming a farmer. Maybe he was part of the rival gang and Sadie never knew about it; and they went to kill him specifically rather than just being a coincidence and trying to use his home for shelter in the blizzard. Would be a cool way to learn about Sadie, and see more of her character development; adding more to the development that takes place in RDR2. Would work with the theme of going back in time, could still involve Blackwater, and would also work with the epilogue transitioning you into a new protagonist (Arthur; if they keep that up).
What about Sadie vs Black Belle story?
Possibly including Jack Marston?
That would make for a hell of a story, in my opinion.
The game was actually confirmed, I saw legit proof of Rockstar confirming that Red Dead Redemption 3 is in development, and people think it might be out in 2030 or around that time

We all NEED to experience the Van der Linde Gang in their prime hey day. Once we have that then we can head off this prequel tine line
What I would like to see in RDR3 is having it after the events of RDR1's epilogue when Jack kills the guy responsible for killing his father in cold blood and you play as a "unknown" created character that witnesses the "end of the wild west" and the beginning of a new era but he/she is a bounty hunter and does jobs/errands for other people.
I PERSONALLY think it could be interesting to see the next game revolve around Jack Marston in the 1920s starting up a gang. I know RDR is about cowboys but this feels like an interesting way to branch off to other ideas while still being that game series. No matter what I’m excited
prequel for sure good time would be civil war era. i do not want see cars electricity it ruins the immersion of the wild west.
I want RDR3 to be about Jack. RDR2 has talked about how Jack had it easier than the others because he has a lot of members in the gang to protect them but now he doesn't. Something unique about him is that he became a lone outlaw whereas the other gang members had someone running with them at one point. Also the stories of RDR1 and RDR2 don't feel complete without Jack, the last surviving member of the gang having an ending of his own.
It seems more likely, based on Rockstar’s games, that the game will be a prequel set further in time. A Dutch Van Der Linde storyline would be a great idea in my opinion, even though RDR2 makes him ultimately seem worse than RDR1 did. Then again I thought he won’t be likeable because he’s portrayed as a ruthless gang leader and a rapist in RDR1 but he was actually an excellent character and I found him genuine at times. Sadie is also an interesting idea. Seeing what happened to Jack, his true, canon fate, does seem like a good conclusion to the Van Der Linde story. And seeing how it all started through the leader’s eyes might just be the best way to warp the narrative.

I've heard that there are two different stories they are thinking about for the next game, one is the calender Brothers at the beginning years of Dutchs gang and Lyle morgan I don't think they've decided yet
Imo I feel they should start with an old Jack writing in a book, then it flashes back to being a kid on the farm. Play as him for a few missions, being the man of the house so to speak while John is gone. Fast forward to after John is dead and have him learn how to shoot and all. Meet up with Sadie and talk about her adventures and play as her for awhile. And they go north to meet Charles and he talks about what he’s been up too. Then Jack finds the journal of Arthur and John. Follows map to old campsite and meets a familiar but unnamed stranger that talks about young gang. Show that history and come back to Jack finishing writing, closes to see it’s a novel of old west.
I think Jack or Ricketts would be amazing.

Also any story with Jack Marston would have him drafted into the Army for WW1.

I STRONGLY vote for Landon Ricketts (main) with Bess (supporting) and Otis Miller (supporting) - Charlie Tatum (supporting) and Red Harlow (main) as the antagonists - My main puzzle pieces: I would like to see Ricketts as the main character, find out why he turns to a life as a gunslinger, see him team up with Otis Miller for a few missions/jobs, get the attention of Red Harlow, as Red is The Best, but in desperation they sneak up and kill Red one night, a plan by Charlie Tatum, unceremoniously... they realized they might have just killed the last decent bounty hunting law man the West ever knew, fed up they both retire with their lives of crime... but as Otis is killed by Charlie, Ricketts changes sides and becomes a vigilante anti-hero, seeking his revenge on Charlie - I would like for it to all accumulate in Blackwater, just after a romance with Bess ends, and she heads East to hide, he goes to Blackwater to try and catch her... but is late by a day, just in time for Dutch to start his plan, in the chaos he is there to help the police, but seeing Dutch kill an innocent woman, he is disgusted with what the land he used to call home is coming to, so rides West, to Mexico, leaving everything behind
i think it should definetly be in the past, either play as a young hosea and dutch building the gang, or part of colm odriscolls gang, where it really changes the perspective of the game. or maybe even we could play as the rat and work with the pinkertons throughout, with someone different like maybe abigail being the rat

That game started off this whole franchise for rockstar and showed them it was possible
Wouldn’t mind a game as a young uncle who used to be a bad ass then him going on the run and getting older then joining the gang. Second part shows Dutch and Hosea creating the group then adopting Arthur and John while uncle tried to hide his past from the group.
I think playing as Dutch in the early days of the gang would be great fun, especially since you could do some interesting stuff with such a morally corrupt person being the protagonist. HOWEVER, it wouldn't be a Red Dead Redemption game as Dutch never gets redemption for his actions, so I think playing as Hosea in the early days instead would make more sense with the theme of the franchise. It's said in RDR2 that back when the two started out as a pair, Hosea was the unstable, angry, reckless one and Dutch mellowed him out along the way. We could play as Hosea during the cusp of that change. See him changing from wild and mean to wise and kind, whilst the two figure out where they're heading long-term and decide to make a go of forming a gang.

i think the most likely to happen is playing as jack. because at the end of rdr2 you play as arthur but then he dies and you play as john, and then in rdr1 you play as john but he dies and you play as jack. so in rdr3 it’ll pick up as playing as jack
It’d be interesting having like the exact opposite of redemption for Dutch, and how he turns from a savior to a villain

Sadie completely moved on after RDR2. If she was still alive John would’ve contact Sadie and possibly Charles for help in capturing Bill, Javier, and Dutch.
I'd like to see the gangs beginning but the final blackwater mission should be focused on half the gang and half Landon Ricketts and after our character of mac *maybe* it focuses on Landon and we play as him from then on
I'd like to play as a young Pinkerton detective trying to tole the line of justice and crime. That way they can keep the honor system in tact while having you play for the other side.
