RDR2: Sadie Adler's Story Was Perfect

- spoilers Sadie Adler is in my opinion - the best side character in the game. This is going to tell you why. Sure, there is Hosea, Javier, and even Charles. But in Red Dead Redemption 2 Sadie shows that she is an example of the themes of the video game and story. We follow her on a journey of revenge and redemption just like we do Arthur Morgan.

She was and also Charles, he was to Arthur what Hosea was to Dutch, a moral compass and voice of reason, which helped Arthur with his redemption through the End.
Well said. Frankly, I think Arthur, Sadie, Charles, and John, had they decided to break away and form their own gang after Hosea's death, and provided Arthur hadn't gotten sick, could've probably been very successful.

Sadie is what a modern day badass female character should be like, imo.
She became a gunslinger because she simply loved her husband so much, rode with other men without any need to downplay their importance (*cough cough Marvel female heroes*) and most importantly, she wasn't a Mary-Sue. She could get reckless, overly aggressive and out of control at times which made the character way more compelling. A true Ride-Or-Die-Sister.
HELL NO. Wdym she didnt downplay the other characters? She lowkey downplayed all the characters by becoming a "badass strong independent" woman in such s short time span, if she was soo strong why couldn't she take out the odriscols in chapter 1? Oh yea, because the game was missing a crazy badass cowgirl thats poorly written, also did you miss the entire " this is my show john marston" speech, in which John is a good little boy and listens to her because he isnt even half the man he was in the first game.
Also undermined Arthur's redemption ark by helping him rescue John, wouldn't it have been 10x better if Arthur rescued John himself, in chapter 1 everyone begging him to save John, while in chapter 6 hes willing to risk his own life for him when everyone was against it. But sadie had to he there to undermine the moment. Same goes for rescuing Abigale.
People who do like her really need to replay the game because they make it seem as if it was the greatest character development in history, while in reality she went from "this poor widow" to "fastest right handed woman in the west".
Rockstar had the perfect opportunity to do a likable woman side character with Karen, the way she acts in the Valentine hiest, and the way she describes and old heist with Javier and Arthur makes me wish they used her more, and you know why shes likable? BECAUSE HER INTERACTIONS ARENT FORCED.
She bought clothes and acted badass out of nowhere lol she sucks she’s a Mary sue Bonnie better

Trademark feminist writing would have her as even stronger than the men while also putting them down at every opportunity
That wasnt the case, she was unhinged and capable but its easy to see the aim of her chatacter wasnt to show that women are better than men
I'd love if you did a video on Abigail. I feel like she is overhated. She was young and lived a rough life, like Arthur and John. She just wanted to have a nice family life for her son, and she was loyal and honorable. I feel like people misunderstand her character. Even Arthur said he should have married her!
Just like with Chi-Chi, I do understand Abigail and where she comes from, however there are some complaints. Like where John goes to fight the people that ambush the farm he's staying at. Abigail had a very selfish standpoint, giving the assumption that they should just stay belly up and NOT do anything about it. Rubbed me the wrong way, but had no issue with her character otherwise
@@hyperpixel3644 yeah I didn't like that either, but otherwise I like her. There were moments I didn't like Arthur and John too but the characters are so well written and they don't always make the best choices ya know?
@@akiameaart Sadie always take the worst way and never suffer the consecuences, the other "well written" characters yes, like the gang in the end everyone die, sadie no, even she is stabbed and climb a montain🤣 (and no reason for no shooting micah and put jhon in a free situacion of stress by her)
I would've loved if there had been more side missions with Sadie, while playing as Arthur. I loved their chemistry together, not only the banter, but also how they played off really well against each others skill-sets.
From what I remember hearing, I believe early game footage showed them in New Austin together, or showed them on other side missions that were cut from the final game.
I wish the would have cut out John's part of the game. After arthur dies. Focused on Arthur's part. And made a rdr1 remastered with John's character.
Behind John and Arthur, Sadie and Charles are my favorite characters in all of red dead redemption
I’d debate her morality. She doesnt even bat an eye when being confronted with the fact poor Arturo got shot because of her cause she went for some irresponsible revenge mission against bunch of O’Driscolls that eventually Arthur had to save her from.
Like she has zero reaction to it. Not a single sign of remorse. Instead she is acting as if she was bothered by Arthur telling her about that

Great work! Really appreciate you doing this because she’s my favorite character. I kinda wish we continued on as her at the end of rdr2 but it makes more sense to continue on as John. I ended up making my online account look like her as best as possible and named it after her so it’s like I’m still getting to do that. lol Glad to see other people appreciate the character, you laid it out perfect and did her much justice. 🔥🔥🔥

I do yet don’t like her all at the same time. Let me elaborate. I don’t like her because she puts the gang at risk more than once. She risks Arthur’s life when he tries to rescue her during the ambush at shady bell and potentially puts everyone else there at risk just because she wants the odriscolls dead, she also stupidly shoots that odriscoll in the head in sant denis after colm was hung, she gets that hot air balloon guy shot and killed all while Arthur does all the hard work. She nearly gets him killed again at vanhorn when she stoopidly tries to push into that building by herself without Arthur’s help and that causes agent Milton to almost kill us, Abigail saved us. I’d argue that she’s more evil then micha, sure she kills for revenge for her husbands death but he also kills half the town of strawberry just for his guns. So there are some similarities there. I still can forgive her because she was thrust into an unforgiving situation that I’m sure most of us would easily shy away from
You are wrong about one little thing. She didn’t hide in the cellar for 3 days, O’driscolls locked her in there. I’ll let you guess why they didn’t kill her

I can’t help but think knowing how things unfold with Dutch and Micah that had the O’driscols not got there first that it would have been us leaving sadie widowed. Makes an outlaw really question themselves. Sadie is quite honestly the best side character we meet in the game.
I don't know about that. Micah certainly would've wanted to just kill them, but Dutch was still relatively moral at this point. At the very least, he cared about keeping the facade up for Arthur. I think Jake could've been talked into sharing some provisions, at the very least.
@@KicktheSky34 perhaps. But Dutch had just murdered Heidi Mccourt on the fairy. There’s no telling how much encouragement Micah needed to break down that facade Dutch keeps up. The stakes are a lot higher than you realize on a first playthrough. It’s a very life or death moment for the gang. I’d like to think Dutch and Arthur could keep the situation under control. But micah. God damn micah.

The way she says, "My memories of him, they still pure" ..man. The voice acting in the whole game was amazing, but she absolutely killed it. So good.
Good video man, one of the more in-depth videos on Sadie. I know a good chunk of players dislike her, but I think that's more of a "I dislike loud and powerful women" stance. They're usually the same group that have a hissy fit if a female character is too revealing or not revealing enough. I think the more reasonable stance on disliking her is because she's so reckless, the only other overly reckless character is Micah imo, with shooting up strawberry ect. But they're both on opposite sides of the spectrum. Sadie has a reason for losing her head over the O'Driscolls but remains loyal to John and Arthur. Micah has no reason, he's just cold like that, and is disloyal. I personally really liked Sadie's contribution to the game, she reminds me a lot of myself. (Granted I'm no murderer but I'm a strong, loud woman who works in a male dominant field). What we can't deny is how helpful she was in helping Arthur and maintaining the rdr storyline

Not to get political, but Sadie is exactly how you make a strong female character. This trend of telling people that a female character is a strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man is uninteresting because you already know they're strong. There's no arc or development there, & you can often tell that the description is being pushed for other reasons, besides gaming. The way you see what hardened Sadie & how she became who she is by chapter 6 is what makes her one of the best characters in gaming. Not every man is a pillar of strength in the game either, or in real life. It's what a person experiences in life that makes them strong. I think the game does a great job of giving you a realistic portrayal of that, whereas other games may tell you how strong the characters are before you even play. Or else, they'll be automatically strong with no arc or development.

She's a good character, but she did have a few flaws.In the writing and as a character.She did a lot of stupid things but she was a good character.Her character development could've been better but it was fine this way too.

I like Sadie, but I don't think she was the best side character. Her story and presence are great, but she was a bit of a mary sue and it felt like her actions had very little consequences. Besides getting stabbed, which should've been fatal considering how far she was from civilization and how big the knife was. How does she become such a better gunslinger than most of the gang in a short amount of time? because her and her husband "shared the work"? Yeah, hunting deer doesn't mean you should be able to fight and kill off 3 grown criminal men with just a knife. She broke a criminal out of a federal prison, started a shootout in the middle of the biggest city on the map, helped the natives fight against the fricking US army, and helped another prisoner escape, killing dozens of Pinkerton agents in the process. How the hell is she not on wanted posters in the epilogue like charles?😂 Lastly, it's weird how the game teaches us revenge is an idiots game, but the reckless blood thirsty revenge seeker is one of the only gang members who ride off into the sunset. Idk if the in-game time was longer than a few weeks, and we saw her journey instead of going from mourning widow to landon ricketts in 1 mission. I could've been behind her character more
