You can't actually be allergic to water. You can be allergic to the chemicals often placed into it (Water often has minor amounts of lead and other sustances from the byproduct of filtering. Water will pick up a little bit of things when ran through them, known as erosion/weathering), however. Your body is coursed with water, so being allergic to plain water, would also mean that you're allergic to yourself. And that's death. Ouch.
There was a dude that spent a very long time out at sea, not in a raft freefloating and (I saw this on some sort of docuseries) and after a long while I wanna say two or three weeks he passed by a school of fish and when they brushed up against him he said he was in intense pain because his skin had turned to like mush basically, he survived and I don't recall if he had problems later on in life or not but I think it was like 3 or 4 weeks he was out there freefloating.
You can have this effect from long exposure to wearing gloves that make your hands sweat. Also this is what trench foot is, and why it's critical to keep your feet dry. If you're spending long periods of time outdoors always bring extra socks in order to keep your feet dry. If your shoes aren't dry...you wait until you get them dry. And your feet sweating will have the same effect as standing in water too, so even if it is just sweat you need to make stops while outdoors and change your socks.
This. I work outside as a swimming pool tech near the Everglades. Its is imperative that i bring extra socks, and water boots for this reason. It only takes 1 or 2 days of wet feet for ingrown nails to start.

One source of water poisoning was an unintended side effect of legislation. People saw that lots of college kids were dying from binge drinking during hazing rituals and decided to outlaw alcohol on some college campuses. In order to get into fraternities, recruits were forced to drink large amounts of water instead of beer. The fraternity brothers knew the dangers of alcohol intoxication but not water intoxication, so they'd force people to drink ridiculous amounts of water to make up for the fact that it was "harmless", which led to tragic consequences. One of the many issues is that it causes swelling of the brain which then bruises against the inside of the skull, which can be fatal.
They know, before it becomes dangerous there are intoxicating side effects. Inmates will occasionally do the same thing because they can't aquire alcohol
Jennifer Strange's causes of death was in result of competing in a contest on a radio show "hold your wee for a wii". Jennifer drank almost two gallons of water over 3 hour and held her "wee" for a chance at a wii. This in returned caused her brain to build up pressure and swell which resulted her in death. I went to school years ago with a kid who had an allergy to water. I never understood it as I’ve gotten older. I always wondered how he could drink or even breathe on humid days. Last I heard his family had a car accident, but I’m hoping everyone was ok, and he is still ok. :(
I've drank about 6L of water in an 8 hour work day before in the summer heat. Most of it was sweat out, not urinated. I sweat an abnormal amount, if I don't drink a lot in the summer if i'm working hard it doesn't take long for me to get a headache and muscle cramps.
My husband has the same problem. He has at least 1/4 of his liquid intake as Gatorade to help with that. When he can't get Gatorade, 1/8 teaspoon salt or "lite salt" (sodium/potassium mix) in fruit juice does the trick. I hope this helps you.

Learned about water poisoning in nursing school. Actually, it dilutes the red cells, makes them more separated from each other. This makes any part of the body receive less oxigen by function of how many red blood cells hit it over time, leading to all effects of shock. Also, the red cells need a controlled concentration of water in the blood to keep their shape, too much water outside the cells, while cells do not lose their internal contents, changes the water gradient, the cells start to take in more water because of osmosis, inflate untill they become balls, them can even "explode", leading to having even less oxigen by having less cells and many misshaped cells. Eating salty stuff increases the ammount of minerals and electrolytes in the blood, outside the cells, which even out the water gradient, so the cells stop taking in too much water, because the osmotic effect decreases. Also, it replenishes the minerals and electrolytes, which the person will most certainly be losing in reaps as the kidneys passively filter them out along with the water
The radio station that had the contest for tickets. A registered nurse called in and told the DJ's to stop that contest. What they were doing was going to get someone killed. basically if anyone watching this video has had a hot bath for a few hours its easy to understand why sitting in the stuff for 10 days can turn you into mush lol
Kinda surprised the video didn't talk about Jungle Rot - On the battlefield you experience all types of weather and terrain. In particularly wet/ Humid / swampy areas there is a very similar phenomenon that affects the hands and feet. If a soldier forgets to change their socks or take off their gloves for a prolonged period of time (approximately several days or so) skin will become wrinkly at first, then turn cracked and white, peeling off with ease at the slightest touch. Some scary shit! Remember to change your socks soldiers!!!
I have seen several vids that have explained why our skin wrinkles - the most interesting was one that shows how much easier it is for us to grasp and hold wet slippery items under water. like clam shells and other harvestable food sources.
Channels having this kind of content 've been popping out of my recommendations. I like this one better. very straight to the point, short, and I don't have to look at a guy with a mustache every 10 seconds.
My nail broke off from the flesh part once so I wore bandaids a lot keep it clean and from getting infected. Would mostly take them off at night, but some nights I would forget. Probably a little over a month. The bandaids although I changed them often would natural get humid from sweat, or if I accidentally got it wet. Anyway, finally once my nail was healed enough for me to stop wearing them, that one finger was extremely wrinkled, and then after just a couple days, it got super dry. The driest my skin has ever felt and cracked down into several layers of my skin. It would bleed. It was more painful dealing with my fingers after the use of bandaids, than me losing my nail.
@@leetlebob8203 I am no lad. Is dermatitis the right diagnosis? I had no inflammation or rash like symptoms. It wasn’t due to just contact or friction of the bandaid, but more so the fact that the bandaid kept my finger moist all the time. My skin got so used to the moisture it stopped producing its own, is my guess, until it eventually did again. I guess dermatitis could be used, I just don’t think it really describes what my finger was like.

This is the first time I've heard the term aquagenic urticaria! I believe both my mom and I have a mild form of it, and up until now I've literally just called it a "water allergy." I almost always get small spotty rashes after showers or swimming, and sometimes those small rashes become itchy hives. It's usually on my chest/trunk and arms. Though, it's strange, because I can have a damp washcloth on my forehead for hours and hours with no issue. It's really localized to those thin-skinned areas, chest, trunk, and arms. And even then, for me personally, it's very minor. I remember my mom telling me how she'd go to doctor after doctor complaining about getting hives after a shower, and they only ever blamed the soap. It was only after I got hives swimming in the sea that we figured it out!
Water is one of the best solvents around. Sea water actually helps heal minor cuts and scrapes. I learned this when I got scratched up from some sharp coral while scuba diving in Cozumel Mexico. (it was totally worth it) This isn't the case if a person is submerged in sea water for long periods of time. My ex-husband was a brick and stone mason. If he didn't wear gloves his fingerprints were actually worn completely off from picking up rough bricks or stones. This was also due to the ingredients for making the mortar. Sometimes his finger tips would bleed if he didn't wear gloves. He wasn't all that bright and would forget to bring gloves to the job.
I remember a Darwin Award for someone who was so scared of getting a stomach disease they only consumed water, they didn’t get water toxicity but they quite literally drowned.
Internal Drowning. The lungs fill up with water without the interference of a water body. I've heard of people drowning from an overconsumption of water before.
Imagine the crewmen of the USS Indianapolis in 1945 if they had had to spend ten days in the ocean….they all would have perished. Even after just three and a half days, their injuries were substantial.
Hey man, with what must be millions of subscribers about now it would be really really nice if you mention both Imperical and Metric measurements. It's especially annoying for temperatures because the conversion is so weird.
The saddest part about the lady drinking too much water was, she entered a radio contest called, hold your wee for a Wii. She was trying to win a Nintendo for her kid, and died in the process.
How is it that water doesn’t affect other mammals that stay under water in the same way, or any other animals at that? (Example: Fish, whales, dolphins, seals etc etc) Please lemme know
Semi-Aquatic mammals usually have a protective layer of hairs and produce oils that prevent their skin from getting wet. Because of that they have to groom their felts periodically, some birds do something similar. Whales and seals have Blubber, a thick layer of fat bellow their skin. Fish have a scales, a bunch of skin layers and a protective mucus that doubles down as antibacterial, besides having incredibly fast regeneration.
It's scary because, most of the time, water is portrayed as nourishing and a source of relief as opposed to the pure destructive nature of fire. But we forgot that too much of a good thing can also be a detriment.
All bullshit aside. September 8th 2021 at 10:15am I had a massive heart attack. I worked out religiously for 2 and a half hours everyday except on special occasions like Christmas, anniversaries and birthdays. When I walked into the doctors office and said I am pretty sure I am having a heart attack, my nurse laughed and said quit playing. Now I am on 6 different pills a day just for my heart and was told I had to back off on working out. Even though my outside body looked good, my inside body was dying from being overwhelmed. I did have a 100% blockage in an artery called widowmaker, whatever that means. Now my skin is thin as hell. My daughter and I were playing and she accidentally scratched me with her fingernails. Well it ripped my skin off my arm!!! I ended up having to go to the hospital cause we couldn't stop the bleeding. I bruise easily now, when I never bruised at all. When I was asked by my cardiologist if I couldn't tell i was having trouble? I said yeah and I chomped it up to me being 45yrs old. I just figured I was getting older and I needed to work out even more. Yeah, that was stupid and because of my stupidity, it almost killed me permanently. When I went back to my doctor and my nurse was checking my vitals. She going to ask me how my chest felt? I said well I had 6 broken ribs and a torn left pectoral muscle. She said can I see? I lift my shirt up and my doctor freaked the hell out!!!! Apparently the cute nurse was my doctors wife and I didnt know that. Lmao. He laughs when he tells me and he closed the door. He told his wife to go take a cold shower in the back. Lmfao. But seriously, if you are starting to feel crap that you hadn't felt before. Please go and get checked out at the doctor. Ouch.

These two incredibly true comments are both highly underrated.
In World War 1, poor conditions in trenches caused feet to rot into socks. This is the condition called trench rot.

I thought it was urination or huge amount or urine/
They know, before it becomes dangerous there are intoxicating side effects. Inmates will occasionally do the same thing because they can't aquire alcohol

Jennifer Strange's causes of death was in result of competing in a contest on a radio show "hold your wee for a wii". Jennifer drank almost two gallons of water over 3 hour and held her "wee" for a chance at a wii. This in returned caused her brain to build up pressure and swell which resulted her in death.

@@g.v.m7935 In the winter I end up taking off my jacket to avoid extreme sweating. If I don't my jacket would end up soaked and not doing much good. I live in Nova Scotia Canada and while our winters aren't as cold here as other parts of Canada they are still colder than it is in the vast majority of the US. Being a peninsula the water helps keep the temperature more normalized but also much more humid.
I have the exact same issues! Just last summer I had a day where I was doing yardwork for like 5 hours straight. I drank what I thought was enough water but didn't account for my abnormal sweating. After finishing the yardwork I showered and headed out to grab some food. Once I returned home the fun started lol I opened my car door to get out and my left leg just locked up! I had to hop to my front door on one foot by which doing so had me so sweaty from panic once I got in the house I was drenched again and had to drag myself to the kitchen/refrigerator to get some of my daughter pedialyte. I sat there for about 10 minutes before my leg unlocked for me. Since the Anytime I know I'm gonna be doing long hours of work I drink pickle juice before and I also found these leg cramp tablets you can buy at your local pharmacy over counter. I take one before and after doing long work. It also doesn't help I stay in here in Texas where summer heat can be a real jerk.

They told the nurse that it was ok because they signed release forms!!! All the DJ's were worried about was themselves and not the contestants!!! The mother of 2 would go on to die. I dont know what ended up happening to the DJ'S but being warned to stop doing something and making them keep on doing it. That to me is borderline homicide.

That’s dermatitis lad

It’s probably because water is an incredible solvent
I'm concerned because the most replayed is just someone's foot 💀
Imagine the crewmen of the USS Indianapolis in 1945 if they had had to spend ten days in the ocean….they all would have perished. Even after just three and a half days, their injuries were substantial.

How is it that water doesn’t affect other mammals that stay under water in the same way, or any other animals at that? (Example: Fish, whales, dolphins, seals etc etc)

Those are aquatic mammals. Most land animals would probably experience the same effect as us
Also fish aren't mammals
@@MrMudbill that’s why he said Mammals or other animals pal
Probably due to blubber
Semi-Aquatic mammals usually have a protective layer of hairs and produce oils that prevent their skin from getting wet. Because of that they have to groom their felts periodically, some birds do something similar. Whales and seals have Blubber, a thick layer of fat bellow their skin. Fish have a scales, a bunch of skin layers and a protective mucus that doubles down as antibacterial, besides having incredibly fast regeneration.

All bullshit aside. September 8th 2021 at 10:15am I had a massive heart attack. I was dead for almost 9 minutes and my doctor said that the last shock that they administered was the last time and they were calling it. Heres the thing, I am only 45yrs old and I was far from being out of shape. I'm 6ft 7 and 235lbs. I worked out religiously for 2 and a half hours everyday except on special occasions like Christmas, anniversaries and birthdays.
When I walked into the doctors office and said I am pretty sure I am having a heart attack, my nurse laughed and said quit playing. My doctor took 1 look at me and said get in here, lay down and take your shirt off NOW!!! They stuck a bunch of sticky things all over me and the nurse actually made me feel very uncomfortable!!!! She had a lot of fun rubbing my chest and stomach and said are you sure your 45yrs old? My doctor turns on an EKG machine and starts yelling at her to call the ambulance to get here yesterday. They start putting pills under my tongue and next thing I know I am gagging and the room was PACKED!!! I had died and just came back.
Now enough on that part.
No matter how much you work out or exercise. They are still trying to get all of my meds right and it sucks!!!
