Today will be 4 year's I lost my husband to fentanyl. He died on Dec 30, 2018. We were together almost 24 year's, but he struggled with drug addiction practically all his entire life. My heart goes out to each family that has lost a love one, and those that have family members with struggles. All we can do is pray, there are somethings that are out of our control. Turn it over to God, continue to love them, encourage them, and over all ask God for wisdom. God Bless us all 🙏🙏🙏
I’m an addict as well I’ve been clean for 6 years I stayed in a rehab for a year that place helped me so much I really believe if you want to stop you will but sometimes you’re not ready and family becomes very frustrated with you but if you never had an addiction you would never ever understand why we go back it starts from traumas you just don’t want to feel some people are strong and some people aren’t don’t judge us just pray for us better yet learn about our addiction then maybe you can be more considerate of our disease
Watching this helps me remember why I got clean. Sharing your stories helps other people. I once was told that death is one of the easier ways to lose someone. When you are controlled by the demon of addiction you are already dead. You just dont know it yet.
I kno people that have addiction struggles and can't tell anyone so it makes it hard for them to get clean. So many deaths and alot of ppl try to help themselves and no one knows what it's like until the either go thru it or see loved ones pass from the demons they have. Thank you for sharing his story 🙏 to the family!
@T Raybern He isn't blaming anyone. ADHD was undiagnosed in the 1970's. Fortunately my brother who had unmedicated ADHD channeled it into a very successful career. He became a workaholic instead of suffering from any drug or alcohol addiction.
Rip Stephen … my daughter is an addict. She’s in rehab and she been clean 8 months. This has been a battle for 20 yrs. I’m not sure if a divorce when you’re 20 yrs old is traumatic.
It depends on the person. 8 months…she is doing the hard work right now. The first 1-3 years are the hardest to get through because the brain is still healing and triggers are strong. I’ve been there…it’s been 5 years now. Please tell her it gets easier. I used to think people were just saying that, and now I’m saying it. I’m so glad that she has your support! ❤️🩹
It all addicts were prescribed narcotics. Pharmacies attach print outs noting side affects and much more info. It’s up to patients to read info. F the drug isn’t working it’s also patients responsibility to talk with their doctor. Anyone who thinks it’s ok to get drugs other than from the doctor is stupid. Drugs from dealers are often cut with other drugs. IF you don’t start on drugs you won’t be in a bad position.
It is the mess of the addicts who didn't follow the directions. I have been using opiods for over 10 yrs due to severe knee pain due to abuse. I am not addicted. I follow the directions. I don't seek out drugs on the street. It's time to stop using excuses for people's choices.
Everyone who tries drugs thinks they won’t let them rule them. People need to know that drugs change the brain 🧠. The “character traits” you have going in are not all fixed.
This is a government problem, not a addict problem, stop being negative, addicts are suffering, so are you (assuming you can’t get the proper meds), no need to spread hate...
@@Soulpainterlondon Are you illiterate? I said acute postoperative pain. If those words are confusing you, look them up. That said, it's terribly nteresting that you don't list these alternatives. List them with citations.

Sadly, stories like these will continue because kids think "that won't happen to me" and greedy people are very willing to sell this poison to others. We need to learn how to cope with stress, trauma and anxiety without so quickly turning to chemical relief--both illegal and prescription. I think its in all families. It may not be there every generation but rears it ugly head, and the genes are passed on. My great grandfather was never talked about. I was told he drowned on the Lusitania sinking. 50 yrs later I tried to find him, anywhere. Not on the ships logs, not obits in the papers, no trace. Eventually found out he was a drunk, who abandoned his family and no one knew what ever became of him. His daughter, my grandmother, was told to have a small glass of wine befor dinner to increase her very poor appetite. Well, it reared its head and granny was a drunk at 70. Had deliveries from the liquor store. What a mess it was! Turns out her brother who lived far far away was also a drunk. It haunts families. I am so very very sorry. Heartbreaking to go through! My deepest condolences!
Self medicating I s a real thing. Often it’s what presents that the impulses and feelings are hard so they use what they can to ameliorate the symptoms. It’s that sad slo motion circling the drain 🤷🏼♀️
I am working on my sobriety aswell it’s hard for me cause I justify my usage of painkillers because they are legit through cancer patients and because I work 7 days a week and I have a pension Roth IRA stocks and 4 months of emergency money I even give money to family members when needed it don’t make it right by any means I know that but I justify it in head that’s one thing I need to work on. Been addicted for 7 years never shot up or did anything that ain’t prescriptions that I see right in the bottle. From cancer patients. My girl works in home health care See I am justifying it as I write this wtf is wrong with me. I make about 11k a month and spend 2500k on pills a month if I can’t get pills I just tough it out so idk why I can’t tough it out and stop. Cause I’ve went more then a week before cold turkey I’ll never touch heroin or fentanyl might not believe me but that’s the truth.
I am very sorry for your loss, but making excuses for him to go to drugs isn't going to cut it also how do you know he's in heaven? It’s not an excuse. It’s an explanation, and it’s true. Trauma, despair, and loss is highly correlated with addiction. @@JesusGodHolySpirit3you of all people, based on your comments should know that a true Christian does not judge or question thy neighbor? I ask that you find some grace for these families who have experienced the greatest loss they will ever know. You don’t have to agree and are certainly entitled to your opinion, however all you accomplish in kicking someone while they’re down is to victimize them all over again and I bet it doesn’t feel as good as you intended when you were on your path of righteous judgement. Once people realize addiction is NOT A DISEASE, we can start fixing this epidemic. It starts with Drs. My addiction started with a DOCTOR. I was in a bad ATV wreck, they seemed me too young for back surgery, so they put me on all TYPES of pain meds, depression meds and etc. ADDICTION is A CHOICE!! These meds are powerful and with change the wiring in your brain QUICK. You can not compare being an addict to someone with cancer (a disease) I’ve been in recovery since 10/2015. We do recover. Just start with the white coats.
Addiction is complicated. Yes it sounds like your experience could have been prevented, your doctor should have been more cautious in prescribing opioids. The majority of addicts have family histories and are self medicating their mental illness. Just say no has never worked but addressing the mental health problems would alleviate addiction, homelessness and even the mass shooting problems America is dealing with.
