I “bought you a beer”, to show my gratitude for helping out a newbie. Getting my radio and receivers flashed has been a challenge for me. Thanks for helping out!🙏
Not a problem. If you need more help please consider joining my discord. It's a lot easier to troubleshoot over there instead of the youtube comments. discord.gg/E5TYbPvP
By far the best explanation I found and the easiest way! I was struggling with this for months and finally made it !!..Thanks a lot! I'm not so good or proficient at 76 years old with computers but you made it possible!! Thanks a lot!
I always wondered why this method wasn't recommended over the conventional way of updating. Seems like there's less of a chance to screw stuff up with this method. Good video, keep it up! 👍🏼
Wow finally found something I understand. I broke my usb connection on my Taranis xd9 plus. Now I can update it without using the usb connection on the tx. Thank you.
Excellent presentation. Clear and to the point. Thanks for this video. A special request: I have a lot of Frsky D8 Rx and have just purchased a Q-X7 Access Tx. Is it possible to 'go back in time' and install an earlier version of firmware to enable me to use my D8 receivers with the Access radio? Lou
The d8 accst fw has really never undergone any firmware update. So if you have a accst radio you should be fine to use your old d8 receivers. Access radios will never be able to work using the built in hardware with any d8 receivers. You will need a different radio or a external multiprotocol module.
I remember doing it this way with my T16 once upon a time, and this time I thought maybe I should do it the "official" way via the companion... it only complained about not being able to write the firmware so I went back to this instead, much better. 👍
Great video and definitely the simplest method that I’ve seen so far to flash/update your OpenTX firmware I’m a little confused on how you updated the Bootloader firmware. It’s been a while since I updated the Bootloader, therefore excuse my ignorance. Did you use the same OpenTX firmware file that you used to update the OpenTX on the radio? Thanks.
Awesome video, thank you! After the update I was able to bind with my new quad. After the bind, I am getting no stick/switch response. Nothing on BetaFlight as well. Do you know of anything I can do to fix this?
awesome video. yesterday i upgraded my radiomaster tx 16s. i backed up my models file that i copied with sd card contents but my models not showing up...how i can fix that
I'm interested in doing an update as well... hoping to don't wipeout current models.. I'm considering to load up a lua script for Elrs so I can use it with an matek receiver... I'm using 2.2.2... Do I have to start doing one update at the time?? or can I jump in the latest available??
Trying to get a uruav tmx5 module to work with my Taranis x9d plus 2019 and at wits end trying to get this thing recognized by my radio.... Could you possibly assist?? Thanks in advance!
I followed your steps but when I try to write firmware it tells me the directory is missing. Do you have any suggestions Thanks I am not giving up I want to get my taranis x9d up dated so that I use RF evolution and hopefully be flying this spring I like your vid's they are very informative
Hi, I'm newbie to this, want to ask if the QX7 finished updated by the way you show in your video, will all the model and setting wipe out? And also how about the setting of R9M module? And I heard the issue if the QX7 being updated the firmware it will make the XM+ receiver shorter for the range of transmission, is thar true? Thanks
You shouldn't lose any of your models or settings but it's a good idea to back them up. It won't change any of the fw on the external r9m module. There is no validity to the claim of updating the xm+ resulting in shorter range.
Seems super easy but for some reason this radio is a headache. I have the taranis x9d plus that will not connect to my Mac. Idk why I did everything you did and it didn't work. Would it be easier to start over with a brand new SD card
I tried you method. I downloaded Impulse RC which installed dfu driver in radio so companion could write firmware. I have the same radio and companion 2.3.15. now radio is bricked to the limit after companion and no access to bootloader. after companion I was not able to power on radio just nothing but I could go to bootloader but with opposite trims which was weird so i pick the bootloader from firmware to flash and after flashing complite is dead.
I cannot get the bootloader started by pushing the trim buttons and tapping the power switch. I have a Taranis x9dpse2019 and the original firmware is OpenTX2.3.00. My Taranis is new, not been used before, and I want to update OpenTX. Already tried via OpenTX Companion and it wouldn’t connect and update my controller, DFU didn’t work and the driver fix neither. How can I access the boot loader on my Taranis controller?
@@TweetFPV It was about the timing, pretty demanding to push the trims and power buttons exactly the right time. It worked! So happy! Now I need to learn how to register, bind and update my r-xsr access receiver to newest firmware. Or is that not necessary, I mean updating the receiver firmware? Greetings from Finland🙂
There isn't much of a point to update the rxsr to access. Personally I'd leave them on accst but you will probably need to update them to accst 2.x and also update your radios isrm to 2.x fw.
I even got the bootloader updated! This was so much easer than the other methods I’ve tried. I don’t know why the other methods didn’t work on my PC running Windows 10 and my Taranis. I must have tried and tried for hours still getting stuck until I found your method. So thanks🙏
Erased the crossfire Lua script from my qx7 while trying to bind a new model. Any idea how to get it back on there? This situation is a nightmare. All my models are unbound now.
Hello mate ,could you please help me ,I have a radio radiomaster tx8 and I can’t update it ,The fact is that the firmware has flown off…I am new in this hobby, much appreciate for any advice and help
When plug in your radio your pc will see 2 new storage devices. I think the one you are trying to write too is the radios internal eeprom storage (very small). You want to find the SD card storage device and move your files to that drive.
The radio will always go into dfu mode when you plug it into your pc while the radio is turned off. If you can not go into the bootloader menu it's because you probably flashed the wrong fw to the radio. Just connect it to your pc while the radio is powered off and then flash the correct fw using opentx companion or edgetx flasher.
If your pc (assuming you are on pc) doesn't load the dfu drivers automatically. Plug in as described above then run the impulserc driver fixer and that program should load the dfu drivers needed.
ok I fixed it. apparently ACCST on your radio does not mean you have accst firmware on your radio and after plug off battery bootloader works again so i was able to flash edge tx for qx7 normal. Good luck.
Accst on the radio DOES mean that you have accst firmware. But there is a bit of confusion about the fw. Opentx/edgetx think of the as the operating system. The accst or access part of the radio is the internal rf module. That fw is loaded to the module seperate from the operating system. The os be it etx or otx does not carry and rf module fw with it.
@@TweetFPV maybe you are right, yet I did what tutorial said and problem occur and after changing fw to normal problem fixed. Still I am gratefull cuz it gave me some knowlege.

Hi. I have a taranis q x7 and for some reason it stopped communicating with all my receivers from x8r to s8r receivers. I updated the latest firmware via the open TX, flashed receivers and cannot get them to talk to each other. Won't bind. Any advice?
You will also need to update the internal tx module within your radio. Updating opentx just updates the radios operating system not the actual rf module fw.
www.frsky-rc.com/x7s/ From there you can find the xjt fw for your radio. Extract the correct fw file to your SD card (you do need a SD card installed in your radio for this) . Find that file in the radios file viewer. Long hold enter on that file and select flash internal.

Yes it should but I haven't tested it. It's on the list of things to do.
