    Use foam adhesive and wooden kabob skewers to "nail" foam together

  • @yearofthegarden
    @yearofthegarden Год назад +4

    I have watched almost every "foamie" video that is out there, and I am glad this one seems to be the last, because what a perfect wrap up. I am impelled to try the poorman's fiberglass, but know based on previous projects that anything which can absorb moisture in the PNW will eventually decay. Foam really is the only way to go, and personally I am going with rolls of flashing, a 3ft roll of galv steel for the exterior and 24" aluminum roll for interiors and sides. This way it will weight somethnin g but be zero maintainance and have zero potential for decahy, except where screws go in.
    I will go with the notched out 2inch foam so it goes together like a jigsaw, glut it, and probably have a hot nail go in where I want to glue in a dowel. then use cedar fenceboard ripped into 1-2" strips for any framing or attachment of paneling required in the build. The whole thing will essentially be a "sauna" but be lightweight enough to unload and have act as a shelter/sauna.

    Toothpicks to hold them together, glue if you want, the foam isn't structural. It's the poor mans fiberglass or real fiberglass on each side that creates the strength of the "sandwich".

    Some of the van people use window screen and gripper paint to strengthen foam. Use might also try to contact runaway trailers to see if they can incorporate it into a runaway trailer. I like povray as you don't draw.

    Use bamboo shish kabob skewers not 1/2" Dowling. IF you need to drill you first need th drill a smaller pilot hole; followed by the larger size. A normal drywall screw will hold the foam together until the adhesive sets up.

    I am curious how the gap between the car and trailer affects aero. Surely there is a lot of turbulent air there. Perhaps, though, similar-sized tow vehicle and trailer would promote eddies that would keep the main airstream from mixing?

    Foamy camper build: How to make the walls. Take a 3 inch thick by 4 ft. by 8 ft. insulation board and drill half inch holes 2 inches away from all 4 corners. Drill 2 more holes 2 inches from end of board to center so you have 3 holes drilled on each side of insulation board.
    You want the holes to look like "a five" on a pair of dice. Use 8 holes to drill. Take masking tape and tape the holes on one side of insulation board. Pour in holes Devcon plastic steel.
    Let dry 24 hours and take tape off. After it dries then you scrape on Devcon plastic steel over the entire insulation board. Put a 4 ft. by 8 ft. corigated plastic sheet on one side and let dry for 24 hours. After it dries then do the other side of insulation board. THE BOARD is very strong and very lightweight. Use Devcon plastic steel to make Foamy cabinets inside the camper. MY plan is to make a 5 foot wide by 7 foot long by 6 feet high Box on an aluminum frame So I can pull it with a E-bike. I have a make up of the inside plan. I will have a shower pan stored on the ceiling in one corner where the Small freezer sits. When I want to shower , all I do is take down the shower pan place it on the floor next to the kitchen sink
    A hole in the floor where the pan drains with a rubber seal on bottom of pan and on the ceiling I will have a bracket where the shower curtain can be put on. I will make a Hose that connects to the sink faucet and use the sink dish sprayer to wet down on other end of hose.
    I will make a bench seat 36 inches tall back and the kitchen countertop will be 36 inches tall. One will be on one side of inside box and the other on the opposite side. I will have A panel board with 2 by 3 wood boards screwed to the back of panel board to make sturdy for the BED. The BED sits on top of the kitchen countertop and bench seat back on one side , and the door on the other side wall. The bed is 30 inches wide and is stored against the wall between the bench seat and kitchen countertop by a piano hinge and a closet cloths hanger bar under the bed. The cloths hangers will move with the bed when it goes up or down so the cloths will ALWAYS be hung up. So I call it the bed and closet all in one. Above the kitchen countertop I will have foamy cabinets to store things in. I will get a small portable coleman stove to cook my food or a solar cooker. In the bench seat I will make a toilet seat with cover to put the cushions on. On the top of box I will have 6 inch diameter pvc pipes to put water in them for the sink. I will put 2 large 200 watt solar panels on the roof on top of pvc pipes. I will get a 3000 watt inverter with 2 batteries. My tiny portable house on wheels.
