  • Honda added both off-road and touring features to the standard Africa Twin to create the CRF1000L2 Adventure Sports model, but did the improvements make it a better all-around adventure machine? We got some extended testing time on the Adventure Sports and gave it a thorough flogging over a variety of terrain and conditions to find out. We share our impressions of the bike and analyze whether the CRF1000L2 Adventure Sports takes the Africa Twin to the next level.
    You can also check out our 'First Ride Review' of the Adventure Sport here: www.advpulse.com/adv-videos/c...
    Note: Some footage in this review video was shot with the new Garmin Virb 360 action cam, which allows you to capture 4K video with 360-degree viewing angles. The camera also features image stabilization technology that makes POV footage less shaky.

    One badass bike! After riding the 1100 version the 2018-19 ATAS will be collectors bikes down the road. The new ones got all the wiz-bang but its not as pure of the 2016-2019 versions.

    I own this bike.. it’s awesome..I run with sport bikes no problem at all.. it carves great .. don’t be afraid to push it.. the bike rewards you man.. this is coming from a former sport bike rider.. the center stand should be standard would be my biggest complaint..!

      Yeah, it's not bad. You can definitely push it. But it is less confidence inspiring than the standard AT. At least with the ride height, you never have to worry about scraping pegs. You can lean it way over!

    How hard would be to fix the African twin?

    • @TORTLESSS
      @TORTLESSS 3 года назад

      Im in the same boat as well. Definitely pick japanese, but I'm kinda not sold on this because it has ride by wire, if the electronics go it means even if the engine and etc are fine you can't use it. I feel like there's too much electronics right now, there's a huge chance that we'll crash somewhere along the way - or water messes it up, so when the bike gets rocked and messes the electronic, it's game over in the middle of nowhere. That's my 2cent. That's why I will consider the honda cg125 when the time comes, , only caveat is it will suck on offroad use and will not be as comfortable, pros is it will never break down(largely the same since the 1970's) and parts are everywhere(sold in emerging countries) in the world.

    Why would you want tubeless tires for an offroad bike?

    • @flattopwill
      @flattopwill 4 года назад +2

      weeeeeeeeeee because plugging a tire is easier and requires fewer tools than repairing/replacing a tube

    • @ADVPulseVideos
      @ADVPulseVideos  4 года назад +5

      Yes, plugging a tubeless wheel is much easier than fixing a tube since you don't need to take the wheel off and break the bead, etc. However, tubeless wheels are more likely to go flat if you hit a rock off-road. And if the rim bends slightly, it can be difficult to get it to hold air again after that. If you are riding regularly in aggressive rocky terrain, then it's better to run tubes. But for most adventure riders who are doing a mixture of street and dirt , and aren't pushing the bike to the limit, the convenience of tubeless wheels are a benefit. With tubeless rims, you can also just put a tube in the front wheel only and keep the rear tubeless since the front is more likely to go flat from hitting a rock. Another approach is to keep them tubeless and wait until you get a flat that can't be repaired with a plug, then put a tube in it. Either way, the tubeless rims are a nice option to have because you can always run tubes in them if you prefer.

    • @paulvandervyver4223
      @paulvandervyver4223 4 года назад

      IMO I would not go tubeless if a lot of time is spent off the pavement.

    • @czaras_
      @czaras_ 4 года назад

      @@ADVPulseVideos I might be wrong but I remember my talking to Honda seller who told me: you can't just put tube in tubeless rims because the spokes are placed in the middle of rim so to do that one would have to change the rim as well.

      GSF _rider the Honda is not that reliable. It is running the same uni-cam motor as the crf 450 just one more piston. I have seen a fair share of the Honda’s already in the shop with the heads getting redone with low mileage and having the valves adjusted frequently. I just think for the money the ktm 1090 is more dirt Orientated with better suspension and power. I have a 2019 1250 gsa and use 80 on rode and a 501 husky for all the off rode fun. Don’t get me wrong I like the Honda but I would not buy one with all the choices on the market today.
