Rutger Hauer in The Hitcher is goosebump-inducing
Just want to point out the audio change midway through this Review. Our audio device stopped behaving itself and we didnt realize. Apologies if it ruins the review for you. We fixed it the best we could. Mucho Lovo Shelfers :) - Iain
Thank u!
Its all good. We can still hear the audio. These things happen, no need to scrap it or redo it all over again. I always liked this film just because its Rutger. Dont forget about "The Hitcher".
i watch VHS still from time to time, you guys could record with a potato and id still love the reviews
No probs
I Come in Peace (1990) is film you should watch & review (love your reviews guys)
How come you guys haven't got a million subscribers yet. You deserve it
Thanks Skaro :) - Iain
I watched this immediately guys. Rutger Hauer is at his quirky best with some serious and comedic moments. Some of my favourite funny moments include Stone brushing his hair with a metal wire brush and drinking coffee with cigarette butts in it.
OHMIGOSH, you're actually doing it! 😃😃😃
I must have requested/suggested this AGES ago! Thank you thank you thank you!
This is one of my favourite movies, and you're both some of my favourite guys, in the world! ❤️❤️❤️
You guys deserve more subs, your content is excellent. Cant wait for you guys Halloween reviews!!
Couldn't think of this films title for years. Rutger's daughter liked my artwork way back on the myspace days and we got chatting. I asked her about the title and she told me. Saw this when I was a young teen in the 90s.
I never thought anyone would ever review this movie. I was told about it in 2002 and it's one of my favorite movies ever!!!!
The creature looks like an earlier version of Venom.
I've seen this movie twice once as a kid and then about 15years later after searching for it forever. Nobody had heard of it, couldn't find a review of it and Google kept telling me split second was a romantic comedy. I am so glad I now have confirmation this film actually exists
Harley Stone is the character I want to play in every roleplaying game, but my GM's never allows me to do it.
I was about to go to bed...
Sleep can wait, I have to watch my two favorites ❤️
That morgue worker was also in a new Doctor Who episode from like 15 years ago
This movie should have been made by the "Streets Of Fire" team of director Walter Hill, cinematographer Andrew Laszlo, music composer Ry Cooder, and actors Michael Pare and Diane Lane.
R i p Rutger Hauer .😥
I really love this film and found it just being a fan of Rutger Hauer. Now knowing it was a micro budget, it is amazing how many times they use what appears to be the same hallway redressed up in so many scenes throughout the film. If you watch and pay attention, it is always being used. Kind of cool imo from a filming trick perspective.
This is why you guys are awesome. Every once in a while you'll do an in depth review of a movie I never heard of and it's always a good time. When I watched Pontypool, and was super psyched about it, I just had to see who on RUclips was discussing that movie. And sure enough, Off the Shelf was one of the only channels to have a review of the film. I've been a fan ever since. Cheers to you :)
Ahhh, God, yes! My favorite sci-fi horror film ever made reviewed by OTSR! What a day! Satan is in deep shit!
You guys are like seriously my two favorite RUclipsrs! Like always, great review 👍👍👍
You have to review The Hitcher, it is Rutgers best and it is an awsome movie.
monster looks kind of like Venom... Great review gents!!
Woah never heard of this movie but this looks like my type of 90s movie.
Thanks guys!
Stainless Steel wrists...the ultimate weapon of combat...😂
As odd as it may be...I love Split Second! Thanks fellas!
Split Second makes a great double bill with the Dolph Lundgren film Dark Angel aka I Come In Peace. And when I say great . . . that's not what I mean
You can toss The Hidden into that lineup as well!
*TRAINSPOTTING (1996)*
Gary & Iain must Review this Fantastic Film, sometime down the line...
This movie reminds me of I Come In Peace with Dolf Lundgren from 1990.
15k subs. Great work. And a great review.
Field of Dreams next!?!?!
Well done gentlemen.
Not watched your reviews in ages but I do enjoy your movie reviews ;)
After I saw this movie I was jumping from couch to couch shooting imaginary rats with an also imaginary automatic multiple barreled shotgun, throwing megaton hand granates. Fighting the forces of evil. Ah the fun.
Edit: I was in my teens.
Harley Stone scares Sutter Cane.
Cant believe you guys didn't see this movie before, I watched it when I was a kid in mid nineties in Serbia under sanctions and embargo :D
Always look forward to Thursdays! Love your reviews!
As always, great job with review, hearing you guys talk about movies no matter did you liked or hated them is just as fun as watching one! I must say, i really love Split Second, it's just so much fun and over the top, and you can clearly tell that they didn't take themselves seriously while making the film and just went with its crazy story. In case if you never watched it, i'd recommend you to check out I Come In Peace, another buddy cop film where instead of demon it's the alien drug dealer that the main heroes are trying to stop.
nice review! i got a suggestion for a future one - The Faculty - 90s teen movie tropes, a decent who-is-it, good punk rock, cheesy cgi, and hot girls!
love this movie and love the fact you were intrigued by seeing the poster walking by a video shop when you were younger. back in those days it was the poster / cover art that kinda sold me on a film .this and death machine are my guilty pleasures of the 90s.
great review guys.
Congrats on 15k
3:31 lol, look how flat the land is. If you live in London you very well know that the Isle of Dog's is not like this anymore, Canary wharf all on it's own, no other skyscraper's around it. Just shows how old this movie is nevermind it being set in 2008.
You guys are brilliant I feel like I'm there with you, there is so many films I'd love to see you guys review, Once again great review guys respect from New Zealand.
You guys are in my top 5 fav reviewers. Never stop and keep up the good work.

Do a review for Starship-Troopers! RICOS ROUGHNECKS!
If you like Rutger Hauer, you should watch him in the film Wedlock! 😀
Wedlock Is one of my favorite Rutger Hauer movies.
Another excellent review
Thanks
Was Predator 2 really delayed 2 years in the U.K.? I seem to remember it releasing in the States in 1990.
Apparently mid 1991 in the UK according to IMDB, so about 7 months. I don't remember that film having much of a marketing push behind it here. By comparison T2 released in the UK a month after the states in the same year.
Dick Durkin lived and changed his name to Dirk digler
Just watched this movie because of this review. never seen it before so thanks for reviewing it to let me know about it, i really like it.

I'm Dan Danknick
My wife's birthday is November 10th
An extreme guilty pleasure, what you can do with a not a lot of budget, loads of imagination and a charismatic cast. Terrible and wonderful all at the same time. Oh, you've seen Lifeforce! Do that film although you're going to have to get bigger Ian head images to cover certain parts.
Great review
I swear this could have been a direct sequel to Rutger Hauer’s other under-rated film, Wanted Dead or Alive. As awful as this movie is, I have such a fondness for it. I remember walking out of the theater when I first saw it and thinking how convoluted the story was. Now I know why.
Love your reviews lads.Just one thing,Predator 2 was released in 1990,but whats 2 yrs between action/Horror flicks hey Ha
I absolutely loved the b movie action flick I like it from the semi post apocalyptic supernatural/sci-fi flick

Luvvv this movie SuperB
7:35 Davos Seaworth?
Actually it's Alun Armstrong, he's been in many films such as Krull, Braveheart, Patriot Games & Eragon.
The guy who played Davos was in Dog Soldiers.

Would you like to know more? :) - Iain
You need to review The Blood of Heroes with Rutger Hauer. Saw it when i was a teen and loved it (i thought it was named Juggers when í saw it)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0094764/
have guy seen....dead heat?
Didn't remember seeing it, before I saw few clips of the film and saw Alastair Duncan's character. Strange film, starts kind of good, but the end part is kind of letdown... Though, if one takes it for what it is (a total camp fest), it's good. It really is an "Guilty Pleasure" type of film. I kind of hated the part, where Duncan was (trying to) be like Hauer's character... I think it was awful, but if you take it as an comedy, it may be passable...
I really should see it again, because I saw it back in my youth. And I'm sure it was at the time, when there was the overshoot video film law here, where they cut the shit out of every film... Though I didn't find an information, if it was cut back then...
