Its tough to beat a good frog bite. Its definitely my favorite way to catch em. If you like the Scum Trophy frog try the newer Launch series. Phenomenal hook up. The tungsten weight on the hook shank allows it to cast incredibly well and helps keep it belly down. It is my favorite frog out of the package.
The launch frog is the best open water frog that I’ve used for hook ups. Other frogs have better action but if they breathe on the scum frog they get hooked.
Softest and best weight by far is the Terminator Walking Frog, it’s weights behind the bend of the Hook out of the way so the Body collapses completely and easily for an amazing Hookup. Great Video my Friend
Thanks Matt. Appreciate hearing about your favorite frogs. Another good one is the 6th Sense Vega Frog. Bass slam em in the southeast. Pop en or walk em. Walks well w/good color selection.
Blitz lures buzz phrog frog is also a awesome buzz bait type frog! I throw it any time I don't feel like walking a frog or if I'm getting the green slime on a buzz bait or whopper plopper. I think I throw it more than a traditional hollow body frog. Last year my 2 biggest largemouths were caught using them!!
Hey Matt do you remember the old Strike King Grass Frog and the Jr. Grass Frog? They were made out of a solid floating foam. Very durable. They also made a popping Frog. Worked like a Pop-R. I still have them. They are about 30 years old. Caught a lot of bass and pickerel on them. I wonder why Strike King stopped making them.
While not a frog I am currently working with the Zman GOAT bait. So far doing everything it says it would. Bubble trail. Floats and stops well over gaps in the pads. Of course weedless as well. So far my best is just under 4lbs.
Perfect timing! I bought this odd looking frog last year and just recently tried it out, and it's fantastic. I'd been wondering what it was. Is a jackal gawhatever you said!
I love hollow bellied frogs.for walking and price the savage Gear walking llly ninja frogs the best walking frog I've tried and it's only 5 bucks at Dick's sporting goods. For heavy coverage I like the Koppers live target 65. It's flat belly and wider profile makes it really boyant ride higher in the water and it comes through nice and clean. I've also caught a lot of bass on the boo yah. If I need a decent frog in a pinch, I've made a few stops at Walmart for the boo yah or Poppin pad crasher. And of course the spro 65. Always a great choice.
I gotta say, the strike king poppin and pad perch are some of the most realistic looking bluegill imitators I’ve ever seen and apparently the bass agree too, I’ve gone behind people throwing frogs with the poppin perch and straight up murdered while they watch in disbelief
I like the deps grand slither k for moderate cover down and open water and then the snagproof phat frog for the thick stuff although I’m going to try the new ones and see if they’re better.
13 trash panda is a very overlooked frog in my experience. Also the reaction innovation swamp donkey, the body is almost identical to the teckle sprinker, but with skirted legs
Hey Matt have you ever used a Blitz Lures poppin frog the body of those is really good material real soft also awesome hooks and it’s got a kinda keel shape on the bottom so it walks great you should check them out if you haven’t yet
Meanwhile up here in Michigan (and probably for you in Wisconsin) the weather has decided to head back towards EARLY spring and dip into the 50-40's 😒 I have all those frogs except the Jackall & the Depp's, so I will have to check those out! Check out the Scum Launch Frog, I like them because of their tungsten weight which allows a really long cast.
Looking forward to getting some good frog fishing in this year, having just gotten back into fishing and some more serious fishing this year, haven't gotten a lot of time with the frog, that is going to change this year based off what everyone says about fishing with a frog.
Scum launch frog is one of tha best out there today. Great hooks and hook placement, very soft and can throw it a mile hence its called a launch frog not to mention even though it has a larger hole in it compared to others it never takes on water!
First "frog" I ever fished was either the Scum Frog or Mann's Rat. That Jackall Gavacho has become by favorite open water frog for sure. The Jackall Kaera is a nice smaller frog I'll throw in the thicker stuff. That Deps Buster K, is it really worth that $21 price tag? That's kind of hard to swallow. Especially in Pike Country.
Thanks for sharing. I do well with the booyah and here in FL a Scum Frog that has a tan scale-like pattern on the belly. I think it looks like tilapia to bass, which they feed on here. Also just got some soft frogs with two paddle tail legs I haven't tried yet. Will lei you know if they're good.
Don't sleep on the optimum furbit if you like the fur tails. Its become my go to frog. Also has a blade attached to the back. Really good fast or slow.
Do you have an opinion on the Dahlberg Diver Frog? I think it has the most realistic action & look, but of course its what the fish think that's important. Just wanted to get your opinion before I bought one.
🍺Matt, that was a nice selection of frogs and advise on when to try them👍. The water I fished today is still in pre-spawn mode. Caught two large, healthy looking smallmouth but they didn’t “fight” like it. Water is still cold. Nicest day of the year today. Sunny 😎and 67 degrees. Livesay leading after day 3. I’ve been on fire all year on my predictions. Get into the title event 🤠if you can.I’ve saved you for that event.🤑
@@MattStefanFishing only time will tell. It’s definitely doable and you are over due on a “kicker”. You’ve been grinding out limits👍 but I don’t think 🤔you have crossed paths with a move up the leader board instantly bass yet this season. It’s going to happen🍺 thou. 👍
Just had my storage broken in this past week. They took 23/24 combos and all my tackle but one Plano ( POS THIEVES) Ironically they left my frog setup and my frog box. Went out today on my day off and slammed them. I'm a huge fan of the spro and the savagegear DC frog. And for poppin frogs I live the spro and gavacho by Jackall. And my Niche frogs teckle gets the nod. Thanx fir all you do Matt.
I like the booyah frogs as well as the scum frogs. But if I’m getting a higher end frog I would say a spro frogs or the googan frogs. Popping and walking types alike.
So I clicked on this video and my Border Colliecjumps in my lap puts his mouth under my chin and makes a funny growling sound that sounds just like a bullfrog. His name is Keeper and he never ceases to amaze ... too smart I call him Dumby a lot oh man he irony.
I am yet to catch anything with a top water. But it’s gonna happen. I just have not really used too water much. But today I made a frogging set up. So there is that. Ha
I love all the frogs that you mentioned. Another one that I like a lot that’s more finesse is the smaller jackall Keara frog.
Ill check that one out!
I heard good stuff about this one!

I agree with everything but I would add the big gabor by megabass. I've had some epic days with that dude.
thanks for sharing!
Big gabot inmeant.. stupid phone. Keep up the great work man.
I caught some impressive fish yesterday on Nickajack Lake with the 6thSense Vega Frog using your tips. Thanks!
That is awesome!

Thanks Matt u always explained things so well. U really make fishing for an amateur like me more enjoyable. Thanks again!!
Happy to help!
I use spro sometimes but my go to frog is a booyah pad crasher. Soft body, sharp hooks and walks great.
thanks for sharing
Great Video! Absolutely love frog fishing
Me too!
Gonna start trying a frog soon. Never had one before now. Lol. Great video, Matt

You got that right!

I'm a huge spro frog fan. I also use the scum frog and I really like the booyah pad crasher. It has been a work horse for me here in central Florida

Was catching them this afternoon on a 55 white bronze eye funny enough! First frog bite of the year for me in SW P.A.

awesome! Links are in the description! Thanks for the support!
The Gavacho has brought many a bass into my boat.
its a good frog!
Good info as always thanks for the vid. Warm enough on inland lakes for that bite now, good times.

Berkley swamp lord and the spro bronzeye
Frog fishing is so much fun! I just can't hook the bass , I think I need a rod with more backbone. Thanks for the video !
more backbone and heavy braided line
Endless frogs, I like the spro . Post spawn here, Worm bite has started.
sounds like fun!
Man nothing beats a frog bite.
you got that right!

how often do you throw a frog on a lake with out grass. and on seawalls, laydowns and docks ?

Which frog is best on a mat at guntersville in your opinion?
Depends on the mat
You left out the 3:16 No Bull Frog!
I haven't gotten those yet but I still intend to...
thats a great frog to have fun with but not in my tournament arsenal
Awesome thanks I will have to get some frogs I have never tried it yet.
you need to try them!

the buster K is a good frog. Hard to justify in pik,e country but then again no frogs are really cheap in pike country

Gavacho for the win! Don’t sleep on the Jackall Kaera when a downsized approach is necessary. It’s still 1/2 oz.
ill check it out!
Gavacho is so damn good. Easiest walking frog around
its a great frog
Topwater...my krypronite. One of these days, man. One of these days.

yep for covering water.
I get impatient too quick for a frog. I need to recommit myself and just fish it a day.
go for it!

How many frogs do you lose to pike? I feel if I tie a new one on a pike ALWAYS destroys it! Never fails. 🤣
A LOT!
