Holy hell green grass, I miss that time of year 😂 if you haven't already you should do a video running through your charge piping/intercooler setup. So far you're the only feller I trust with good content on these cars
Hahah that green grass is actually from today, winter on the west coast lasts maybe 2 weeks 😂 - I definitely will try to do a video about it soon, lots of people have asked!
@ThatGuyTy the east coast is being temperamental. I'm looking at a little snow and a bunch of dead grass. And sweet man, I know a lot of people say VW intakes are more than sufficient for a lot of builds but someone threw a ratty half assed "cold air" intake on mine before I got it. Figured it'd be cool to do something other than find another stock air box for it
Yeah the stock air box is good, as much as I am beating a dead horse theirs tons of data, until you are on a larger turbo you don’t get any benefit other than sound - however mine does pickup directly from the fog light so who’s to say mine doesn’t actually make a difference with IAT’s!
@ThatGuyTy definitely some good points made about the stock one. But I do plan on a bigger turbo at somepoint when the budget allows, I'm sure it could get me some style points for the time being
Yeah 100% if that’s the plan make a good one once and not have to do it again would be the move - I honestly would wrap it once it gets close enough to the turbo, and then leave it bare metal when it dives into the fender for more cooling - stainless or aluminum would be the way
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm in Calgary and with the 2 weeks of -40C weather, for me I'd be concerned that the TDI wouldn't warm up at all. It's hard to keep warm if you have to stop at a light in those temps.
@@ThatGuyTyy Yeah, though it’s not recommended unless you’re in a hot climate or the car is regularly tracked, in his use case the thermostatic one would be the ideal option
Hello! So I can use fabric oil cooler and aftermarket right? So If i drive in traffic Is there a chance to heat the oil? And the fabric oil cooler it working or no? 1 9 tdi ASZ
Have you considered adding a thermostat to the oil cooler?? That much “extra” time in warm up I’m sure is contributing to fuel dilution…. Thermostat would help. They make in line units.
@@Scoots1994 👍🏼 hopefully anyone watching this video looks into that. Deleted these things take Forever to warm up already…. Without the thermostat sandwich plate I could see fall, winter, early spring being a nightmare….
I installed one oil cooler this year on my TDI and on same road, full throttle I had -17ºC (10kms max load test) on normal usage Its hard to pass 75ºC since I removed the original circuit, so it cools a lot faster(smaller oil circuit)
I did some looking and lots of the cheap Amazon one are the right size and have the right adapters I believe. How’s your oil pressure? Did you notice a drop at all with the extra capacity? I’m interested in adding a bigger cat filter.
For swirls you can just do a tune and then unplug them is the easiest way honestly, messing around with pulling the manifold off and doing all that nonsense isn’t really worth it
you can get a sandwich plate that has a thermostat in it so it won't open and circulate through your cooler until you're up to temperature👍
I was thinking about this for my mk7 TDI good video!

Yeah especially if you are also EGR deleted for managing coolant temps - definitely not something I would run year round at that temperature
i know this comment is a year late but the darkside kits are thermostatic so the cooler won’t be in use unless the oil temp is above 80c
@6n2_tim you can get a non thermostatic version! This one is non thermostatic

How do you have oil temp displayed in the cluster? I have a 14 sportwagen TDI. Your vids give me ideas for the future, keep up the good work!
I think it’s enabled in VCDS I will do some digging and report back, as when I bought the car it was turned on
Jubus!! That's the cleanest cjaa I've seen dude. What i.c. setup do you have?

Darkside offer a thermostat in the sandwich plate already. I guess he didn't opt for it.

which oil cooler do u install?
@@FaMe70 13rows, no brand, but go for a branded one. Reliable
Hello mate, can you say what you pick: AN8 or AN10? I have a golf 6 2.0 TDI and do not know what it will fit😞
AN is just the fitting size, should be fine with whatever the kit comes with
@@ThatGuyTyy
Now i see, on my golf 6 wont fit because i have CFFB code with oval ports and the oil cooler is diffrent from yours
Could I use that sandwich plate to install a bypass oil filter ?
I don’t see why not, are you looking to double filter?
What happened to the Allroad? Is she still alive?
Does anyone know if I can do this on alh motor?
They should, it’s essentially just adding a sandwich plate to the oil system, Darkside might make one!
I did some looking and lots of the cheap Amazon one are the right size and have the right adapters I believe.

Is this intake custom or it is purchased from somewhere?
Custom!
Did you delete the swirl flaps?
Yes swirls are fully deleted
@@ThatGuyTyy where did you get the delete kit or how did you do that?

Do you Drive 5w30 or 5w40?
5w40 usually!!
Your GTD is not running the CFGB engine? Or is the engine block shared among the TDIs?
It’s actually just a super modified CJAA (regular golf) - we never got an “actually” GTD in Canada
We need to see some pulls with the GTD, a POV drive of some sort :)
Definitely will sometime this week as lots of people are asking
I was thinking about this for my mk7 TDI good video!
