Ryan, I just ran into an issue. I went with the 48v bdgr 3 battery system. After all was hooked up, I ran into an issue with hard braking. During a hard brake, the regen sends an over voltage to the BMS, causing the batteries to shut down briefly. I missed the garage by about 6 inches. I have sent them an email, but was curious if you have had any similar issues. This is on a 2017 EZGO RXV Freedom.
I have a similar issue where the BMS keeps shutting down on my Husky 48V lithium battery. I have a 600amp Navitas controller. I been waiting for Navitas to come up with a fix for over 3 months now.
@@David25522 I did. My fix is to remove those batteries and use a HSKY instead. I haven't done this yet (on vacation), but big battery has agreed to help me and make the swap. We'll see if this fixes the problem. Hoping the higher voltage of this battery eliminates the issue.
@@chriswaddell9750 I have a problem with my RXV as well. I have the 48V Husky battery along the a 600amp Navitas controller. Navitas is blaming the problem on my battery. They don’t have a firmware update for the Husky battery. I been waiting for almost 3 months for an update from them.
Hey, great video. Just bought and am waiting for it. Do you thing you explain the wiring with the distribution studs and charging with and without stock charger? I kinda got lost there.
Battery + to Red Stud, Battery - to Blk Stud - Golfcart power wire to red stud, Golfcart ground to Blk stud - Charger Red ring terminal to Red Stud, Charger Blk ring terminal to Blk Stud. The studs are the main terminal for the battery, charger, golf cart and dc to dc adapter if you have one.
Can the husky battery be installed on a completely stock 48v club car Precedent to switch over to lithium from lead or are other modifications required?
Ordered and waiting on the HSKY. Next hoping to do the plumbquick bandit upgraded motor. Anyone know of any issues with a stock 250a controller or should I upgrade that first?
Since I didn't but the kit with charger does the stock E.R.I.C. charger need to be programmed for lithium? They stated I could use the stock charger but never went into details.
How does the amp-hour rating compare to a standard set of 4x12v leads acid batteries that would normally be in there? and how does the price compare? Thx.
Thats a loaded question.... You would have more amperage output for a controller with lead acid vs lithium. On the flip side the lithium doesn't require any water or maintenance other than charging, The lithium charges quicker, lasts longer per charge and most importance saves weight. This battery weighs in around 100lbs, where 4 - 12s would weigh in around 340lbs. So its a give and take type thing. Lithium battery here with my coupon code around $1800 vs $800 trojans. Trojans have a life expectancy of 5-7 years with perfect maintenance. So its really give and take for what someone would use there golf cart for.
@@gabrielkaczorowski8129 The speed controller limits that technically however you will feel a difference when you replace 360lbs of batteries with only 100.
How did the battery work after all? I have the 5kw 600amp Navitas system that I am installing and hope to find out the best battery combo. Any results yet? Thanks! Dan
I called and spoke to a customer service rep at bigbattery.com today. I asked about water resistance and if there was anything special I needed to do to seal it up. He told me the batteries are water resistant. Driving in rain or through puddles isn’t going to hurt the battery if it gets some water on it. Obviously don’t submerge it but otherwise he said it should be fine. I imagine to clean it off I’ll just use a damp towel as opposed to spraying it off with a hose. I’m still closing off the battery bay from underneath (club car ds) so it’ll minimize how much crap gets splashed up in there.
I bought a different Kit from big battery that took less modification. It has two smaller batteries that fit in the existing bays. I did use the same type of post blocks. Super light and golf cart is so fast. I do not have the range or amp hours of this battery set up shown but it serves me well.

Did you figure out a fix for your problem Chris?
@@David25522 I did. My fix is to remove those batteries and use a HSKY instead. I haven't done this yet (on vacation), but big battery has agreed to help me and make the swap. We'll see if this fixes the problem. Hoping the higher voltage of this battery eliminates the issue.
@@chriswaddell9750 I have a problem with my RXV as well.
I have the 48V Husky battery along the a 600amp Navitas controller. Whenever ever I come to a stop and start moving again it goes to limp mode. I also have the same problem with hard braking causing me the lose power. I almost ran a stop sign.
Ok got it, thanks a lot!
Can the husky battery be installed on a completely stock 48v club car Precedent to switch over to lithium from lead or are other modifications required?
Sure can.
Bobby, I didnt. My eric charger is still set up for trojan batteries and I use it with my battery.
Big batteries are sold out…any other products you prefer?
I spoke with them last week for something else and they said they were a week or so out. I havent called back this week.
I have the same setup. I’m curious, did you not use the Anderson connectors than for your main positive and negative? Why put on distribution studs…
I put on the studs to be able to connect the controller, 12v converter to the cart.
@@Fentertainment Thank you.
I’d like to ask you a question about getting one for my ezgo txt series cart
If I upgraded to lithium will my cart have more power or does the speed controller still limit that
@@gabrielkaczorowski8129 The speed controller limits that technically however you will feel a difference when you replace 360lbs of batteries with only 100.
Is this battery waterproof/water resistant? Just wondering
How did the battery work after all? I have the 5kw 600amp Navitas system that I am installing and hope to find out the best battery combo. Any results yet? Thanks! Dan
Yes wondering the same thing any testing on the new battery
Curious about the same. Just installed the husky. Wondering how far I need to go with sealing up the battery bay
They have so many different types of batteries as well. Might try something different on another cart soon.
@@Fentertainment always great content! Your Chanel made me look into lithium and Navitus. I will eventually get a plum quick motor also. It makes me feel better you are using one of their batteries. I got the 1 gen 48v BDGR kit. I wish I had your coupon code but ordered it mid Feb and got it last week because of back order.
Ten4, How are you liking the BDGR battery?
@@Fentertainment Doing good so far. This Kit appears to be modular if I need more I can buy one or two additional batteries with the appropriate Anderson cables. The only thing is I had the controller cranked up on speed and acceleration and popped the BMS breaker on the batteries. That was the first run so we will see.

So which is better? Husky or RoyPow?
Im loving all of the big battery lithium batteries. The roypow would cut off when I the amperage draw from the cart was high. I dont have that with this one or the eagle batteries from big battery.
Why did you switch from the roy pow? Just curious?
He test many different batteries just to show us the capabilities
Will it hook up to a ezgolf cart
Ryan, have you had any issue with the power distribution studs? I have a 500a alltrax and a plum quick grizzly torque motor on a club car ds. I ordered the hsky battery so my main concern is the bus bar/distribution stud being able to handle it.
Are you talking about the studs i put on the battery? If so I havent.
@@Fentertainment yes the studs you put on the battery. Thanks for responding. I'll order the same ones, I got the link you put in the description. Im excited to get it all put together.
Hey guys has anyone ever had a problem with plum quick motor drain your batteries fast can only ride bout half hr with out goin dead to where it want pull any grade
Did you film this video before I surgery or are you already had the eye surgery when you made this video?
I made this before eye surgery knowing I would not be able to pick anything up or push anything that would be heavy.
Are you still happy with bigbattery pack?
Still loving it. I have it in my limo on 33s now. I have 2 36v big battery gatr's in my cushman project. I have some other new big batteries ordered as well. They do me good. Im happy.
Hey Ryan I have the exact same setup. I’m having a few issues with getting the system to charge.. I did those studs on the side as well. I have the original Anderson connecter plugged into the battery and the negative is going to the battery negative on controller and the positive is going to the solenoid. My question is am I supposed to have a negative and positive 2 gauge cable going from the battery positive and negative on controller to the actual lithium battery or hooked on those studs??
I have Battery (+), Charger (+) and Solenoid Going to RED Stud, I have Battery (-), Charger (-) and Controller Ground going to Black Stud. Then Solenoid goes to controller. The studs are the main distribution point for the system.
@@Fentertainment Great! Thanks for the reply
@@Fentertainment Hey sorry to bug yeah more on this. Any chance I could get a picture if it’s not too much hassle?? I don’t want to fry anything. I watched your one video of how the wires went but that was for lead acid batteries I believe.
What type of 12v converter are you using?
These are the only ones I use on all my carts. amzn.to/3qOc2P9
What's price
Can I add this to my 2004 club car precedents that has the center tow/run counsel? Can I remove that? Order this battery already so I really hope so!!!
Yes you can.
You might have to get a little creative for mounting the controller but you can.
If you wanted to you can spend about $800 and buy a 2008 battery bucket conversion kit also. It comes with a new battery bucket, wiring hardness and a headlight harness if you need that also.
Are you going to sell your Roypow?
Awesome to see American companies finally investing into lithium batteries! I’ve been ordering Chinese batteries for years now and they are a mess lol
Are you taking out roypow do too an issue? Or do these last longer?
Roypow had less amperage output than these batteries.
@@Fentertainment sorry still learning so has basically same a/h just higher amp output? Does this increase speed or tourqe. Basically these are all expensive systems and i watched your roy pow been dreaming and saving for this thing then ya pull it out lol. Just want to see if my application it would even matter. We can't really drive fast campground speed limit is 10mph. Wich version will last longer on 1 charge with a loaded cart?
Most cart are 6 or 8 batteries 8 or 6 volts, switching to 48 volt system create a system accessory hook up change. Accessories are 12 volts and need to be converted to a reducer 48 volt to 12 volts. If your lights are in the 12 volt harness, you will have to find the positive and negative wires and get to 12 volts . If your are converting to 4 12 volt batteries then you can hook to one 12 volt batterie, A detailed video of this process will keep people from blowing out their lights like I did!
I have multiple videos on the channel that explains it.
You do not understand golf cart wiring.
How do I use stock charger plug to charge battery? Do I need to bypass OBC on my 2018 club cart onward?
Do you seriously have a obc on a 2018? I thought they quit those in 14 with the eric chargers.
I had deleted my previous comment as I see the Husky recommends 58v charger. My 48v bdgr setup recommends 50.4 v which sends my stock charger into a tizzy! BMS on batteries didn’t love that either.
@@chriswaddell9750 The badger and hsky are different and you are correct about the charger. My club car eric charger will charge at 58v's so that is why I use it instead of the included charger. Just be careful with the included charger on the cart so it doesnt get any moisture in it due to the open design.
@@Fentertainment completely agree!
I have a stock 2017 onward, will this battery replace my old lead acid batteries with no problems and can I use the stock charger, and stock charging plug
Jamie, my 14 precedent should be the same as yours. Im using the stock club car eric charger to charge my battery.
@@Fentertainment Got my big battery today my plan is to use buss barrs to connect the ring terminals and the terminals fom the cart, I can't find any info on if the cart it shelf has a battery management system, I want to make sure it will not interfere with the bms in the big battery, also my cart already has light on from the factory, its my understanding that it should alreadyhave a drop down in it to run the 12 volts for the lights
@@jmudd100 Well to be frankly honest with you. Once you remove your 4 12v batteries or 6 8v batteries, Use the main pos and neg from the cart to get power on the buss bars for your cart. The buss bars will act like the Terminals did that I installed. The only thing about the lights is when you are removing the wires from the batteries make sure that there are no extra smaller wires being used to power the headlights. The cart may already have a voltage regulator installed to power the lights. You shouldnt have to worry about the bms, Its job is to make sure the battery doesnt get below a certain voltage or charge past a certain voltage.
@@Fentertainment thanks for the help
Looks like bb just upgraded the HSKY to use an Anderson connector now. That’s nice!
What is the exact model
Husky
part 2 ?
Cool
Hey, do you have to leave the husky turned on while in the golf cart? or do you actually hit the button on the husky every time you drive it?
You have to turn the battery on whenever you want to use the cart or charge the battery. Beware the BMS will turn off the battery if your using a Navitas controller. I been going back and forth with Navitas. Don’t make the same mistake that I made.
@@David25522 my battery hasn't shut down one bit on this battery. Im using 2 36v gatr batteries in series for 72v in my red cart and 48v hsky in my precedent. What is your amp hour set at?
@@Fentertainment I can really use your help on this one brother.
I have a 2009 EZGO RXV with a 600 amp controller along with the 48V Husky battery installed.
Two things that happens. The first thing is the cart just kicks out within a minute or two of uses. After 4-5 minutes it will move again. After It finally clears up my cart goes into limp mode.

Do not run down the other guys down. thanks. nobody wants to hear that
How does this compare to the Badger 129ah 3 battery kit (link provided)? The Husky is LiFePO4 (LFP) chemistry where as the Badger is NMC : Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion). The price for both is similar. I like idea of 3 batteries -vs- one (not having all your eggs in one basket) if one fails. bigbattery.com/products/kit-48v-bdgr-nmc-120ah-6-3kwh/?attribute_generations=KIT+48V+BDGR+-+NMC+-+129AH+-+6.3kWh+GEN2
My cart being a 48v system I like the idea of the voltage range of the hsky over the badger. The hsky voltage range is like 58-43. The battery charges at 58v but after its charged its between 53.5 and 54 volts and the bms will cut the battery off at 43 volts. The badger battery 50.4 - 36 volts. This is the reason I chose the hsky for myself, however I know a few people who have the badger and like it on stock carts. Which ever you chose to run be sure to use my coupon code to save you some money on any battery.
