I suppose it’s since they were going for a reverse of the season 1 forms, so organic-ish robot modes and mechanical beast modes. It probably would’ve looked weird to have a fleshy-looking mouthplate.
@@raydenlord Excellent point. I like the reversal idea. I assumed it was to do with the character. BW Primal was initially intended to be G1 Prime in a new body, whereas the Mainframe show established that Primal was a unique character in its own right and the faceplate wasn't needed.
@MrKnightbeat they likely kept the faceplate for Season 1 because the toy had it. But they wanted Primal to talk normally as Mainframe did want to show off how technology advance Beast Wars at the time. As a faceplate can be see as a lazy excuse to not to lip syncs.
Btw the panel under the kneecap’s actually peg into the knee. There is a opening that you can slot into the panel. The metal backpack pegs into the right peck area. There should be a peghole which the backpack can peg into. This makes it a lot more stable.
No WAY you just dropped this video right after seeing the original episode where he becomes Transmetal! Can't believe such coincidences happen when you least expect them!
Loved the review but just wanted to say the random bits you add never cease to surprise me like you randomly flying Primal around in skateboarding mode or when you randomly found the crotch piece
God tier figure. Can't wait to get. We desperately need a BBoom and Polar Claw update. They were my favorite og megas. Magnaboss and the other two beast combiners.
Jist so your aware you uave the second run of their Transmetal OP. This second run is done in Takara Metals OP colours. The first run was done in the American Transmetal OP colours which is what i have. The first run has solid brown plastic not transluscent and the chest isnt metallic on his robot mode.
Love this figure. I painted his robot face to be closer to the shows color, it looks 10x times better. But he stays in beast mode all the time any ways cuz that's the best mode for him. No issues with the clear plastic, it's pretty solid. I do wish he had bendable knees in his beast mode like he does in the show, i think that's the only improvement he needs.
I really want to get some of Transart's figures. Their Rattrap will be my holy grail if I can get it as I wanted the original 90s toy so bad but never managed to get one.
Even if Hasbro made an updated version of Trans metal Optimus Primal. They would just screw up the transformation. Like how they screw up the transformation for Tracks.
I’ve always loved the monkey mode, but the robot mode maybe one of my least favorite Tf character designs of all time (excluding all of beast machines)
I know this is possible stupid for me to say BUT if Hasbro actually does give us a Transmetal Optimus Primal Mold like this in Legacy, I would honestly like for them to Release an Legacy Apelinq first then Primal afterwards since well ROTB kind of shot Apelinq into the public eye and hey why not capitalize on it.(also I know also stupid again BUT can we GET a Generations Selects Release of Cryotek using the Legacy TM2 Megatron Mold and Primal Prime using the POTP Optimus Primal Mold? Please? Can we just have those two as Gen-Selects? I am willing to Pay for those!)
@@fennekin1750 Primal Prime was a Recolor of Optimal Optimus Primal in a Red/Blue Color scheme that in universe was created by the vok after the Maximals left with Megatron to protect the Autobots and Decepticons from Tarantulas, Primal Prime was created as said by the Vok by using the Optimal Optimus control suit Quickstrike used, the Transmetal driver, and the Matrix of Leadership hidden within Optimus Prime to create him while also Spliting Tigerhawk back into Tigatron and Airrazor but with Transmetal Bodies. Basically he is both an Emissary of the Vok and a Living Matrix of Leadership.
@@fennekin1750 Primal Prime, like Apelinq was from 3H comics released around the early 2000s, even getting an original figure based on the 1999 Optimal Optimus Primal Toy, limited to 10,000 figures made. Basically why I asked for a Gen-Selects with the Power of the Primes Mold of Optimal Optimus is that we can give this obscure Transformers Character another chance to get some attention in the public since in his appearances he while being the Emissary of the Vok and a Living Matrix was a member of the Wreckers, and with Hasbro pulling Obscure Diaclone versions of Characters I don't see why not pull out a Primal Prime or Cryotek.
@@kamenrider5ds60 Cool! thx again for telling me! I think it'd be cool for characters like these to get a 2nd (or more) chance in the spotlight, like write them up in a new comic series, TV series, etc! That'd be awesome! & new toys, too, ofc!
I actually don't like Transmetal Primal/Munky, I like S1 & Optimal Munky, more. This one looks weird, but the worst part is the face, I don't like it, its kinda ugly, but the hoverboard part is kinda cool. His mouthplate split thing he has on his S1 & Optimal designs is much better & cooler. But, this figure does still look pretty good. Imo TM 1 Cheetor, Rattrap, Megs, & Tarantulas are the best ones, & TM2 Dragon Megs is awesome & TM2 Cheetor is not my fav but still pretty cool! Tbh RotB Cheetor's bot mode kinda reminds me of TM2 Cheetor's. & I'm glad they used TM1 Tarantulas' design is EarthSpark!
Many fans thinks that this version is kinda meh, & prolly that's the reason there's no newer version of it (Optimal Optimus came out during Power of The Primes, & Optimus Primal came out during War For Cybertron Kingdom). But i still LOVE it!
This is something I've never liked of Transmetals: I know the toy is accurate, but Transmetals always seemed kinda incomplete compared to the original Beast Wars modes. I don't know, I've been always nitpicky about it. Nevertheless, the figure is awesome. Thanks for another great video.
Well it might be because you're used to seeing mechanical bot modes and organic beast modes with the transmetals it's reversed where there's mechanical beast modes and organic bot modes and with optimal Optimus and transmetal 2 Megatron optimal Optimus goes for a more mechanical design while transmetal 2 Megatron has a more organic design
Where can you get this version of the figure? I have seen the metallic version and the first version, but I haven't come across this translucent version
Cool figure. I've been watching Beast Wars and have been loving it, however I still have mixed feelings towards these new Transmetal 1 designs. I like Megs and Tarantulus. I'm okay with Cheetor and Rattrap but I honestly don't like Primal.
I do not understand what the designers were thinking of when they decided to make this thing out of CLEAR PLASTIC. Transluscent plastic is brittle and gets worse over time. 3rd party plastic is (often) brittle and gets worse over time. Heavy ratchets can lead to breakages if not done well. So a 3rd-party, clear-plastic toy WITH ratcheted joints?? Nuh-uh, keep this thing as far away from me so its shattered pieces don't fling into my eye in a couple years.
Surf monk > optimal monk. I know it’s not based but I said what I said. Having the OG Optimal I just look at it every day and I’m like “why don’t I just have the transmetal version?” But as usual here you are being a bad influence on my wallet😂😂😂😂
Optimal Munky is better Imo. TM1 Munky looks a little weird, but the face is the worst part. But the hoverboard concept is pretty cool, the design isn't all bad, but the face really brings it down for me! I love S1 & Optimal Munky the best!
Mmm, see the problem with this figure is that the beast wars and transmetal character designs are dogshit ugly to begin with. This is a good tip, it makes him much taller too.
As soon as he mentioned pinned fingers I think we all knew which figure he was gonna mention 😂 this one looks way better in quality

I always loved this version
Same
I like S1 & Optimal Munky more, but parts of this design is pretty cool, like the hoverboard, & a few other things. I don't like the face.
10:06 you can REALLY see the difference in the knee pads. With that being said, I don't remember him having Lieutenant Dan legs?
Recently got their Transmetal 2 Cheetor and I love it. Great video!
Oh cool! Imo Transmetal 1 Cheetor is actually really cool & 2 is still pretty cool!

more third parties need to include bloosh effects. It probably the easiest accessory they can include for little additional cost.
I kept skipping on these because thought they were masterpiece scale but that one shot at the beginning, now I’m tempted

ngl, i think this is the first time i've heard someone say they like the s2 primal design lol
Looks like a quadriplegic in monkey mod
Huh didn't know Transart made a version of this guy with Clear Plastic after the original release.
Interesting choice I guess.
Its a reference to the takara release of the original toy which has the transparant plastic
DA SHINY BLUE MONKE
When I first saw this in the show I was super confused for a few
I highly recommend the Transart Cheetor, megatron and Rattrap !
Monke power
I like how they use the gun as a jet just like the show
I remember there's an airplane and tank mode to this.
I think you're thinking of Optimal Optimus/Munky in S3, not Transmetal 1 like this one.
Just got the newest release of this guy. New version is all painted, no clear plastic as far as I can tell...
I never liked Primal's face on the Transmetal version. Glad they changed it when he became Optimal Optimus
Agreed! Optimal Munky is better! S1 version too!
Monkee!

I love glittery clear plastic. It makes me feel like I'm a kid again. But oh my god please don't put it in places that need to move ;_;
Iirc the ones from way before when you reviewed this guy actually has normal not clear plastic but that may be my memory failing me
I’ve always loved the monkey mode, but the robot mode maybe one of my least favorite Tf character designs of all time (excluding all of beast machines)
Same Transmetal primal is favorite version of primal

Just watched beast wars, and I love the dual function of the transmetals, sucks that tarantulas is over 100$ usd
Looks like amputee munkee.

I had OG Transmetal Megs years ago, it broke and I lost the rest between some changes
One of the first 20 viewers
so you got the clear version? I did not know it came in clear....neat
The original takara toy had this transparant plastic
Its a shiny monke btw also greetings from Belgium
