Looks Ive been doing it right all along, I could never get along with a high bar. Ive always tried to ride with my head over the clamps position, low bars seem to me with that. I do run the levers lower then you, Ill have to try those higher, but Ive broken both hands and it may be too uncomfortable.
I have owned 2 Yamaha YZ's for offroad over the years and liked the stock handlebars & position. I cone from a sport street and roadracing background and maybe their lower bar posirions tends to make the Yami bars feel natural to me with no soreness after hours of constant riding.
I find the Yamaha's feel weird (to me my opinion) , and they don't steer as well as the KTM or even the Honda's. Hondas have always turned really well. But that's my personal opinion and whatever you ride you get used to sooner or latter. And take into account the Yamaha's I have ridden may not have been setup particularly well which could be a lot to do with it
Appreciate your knowledge and free-flowing thought on the topic Reece, and especially considering the timing with a lot of people in the corridor switching over to the Astra Offroad bar setups - a much lower rise/bend than stock... Birchy has a bar with them.. I wondered what your thoughts on what Astra is doing and if it's a little too extreme or not...
Good point m8, as far as I know and looking at the Astra website and doing some calculations (and my partner corrected me FHM) the Evo "steering damper low" bars have exactly the same sweep (47mm for Asta and 46.99mm for the Evo) , As for height the Evo's come in at 54.78mm high and the Astro's come in at 50mm and 60mm rise. Now for price $169.99 for the regular Astra bars in Canada + tax and $174.99+ tax for the birch edition Astra's, however the Pro Taper bars are about $121.36 landed and have been making bars for 22 years........so??? Jorli was going to send me a set of Astra bars but I have not seen them yet so other than seeing the sizes on the website and making assumptions I personally like the Evo's.
Going to bring my levers up a bit. Good explanation.

Very interesting. I just ordered these for my GasGas EC300.

I love the new bars on the ktm’s
I’m glad you mentioned the Yam’s position, I didn’t realise how much I didn’t get on with my WR until I got shot of it and bought a husky.
A lot of people rave about the Yamaha's, and for open fast stuff they are great, tight technical they are a little slow turning
Great video Reece, looking forward to the suspension video

Oh and the Girlfriend just mentioned that you have more colour choices with the Astro's than the Evo's 2 colour's.
@@ReeceTasker The Evo's are pretty darn close. Excellent info!
