6:55 and that's exactly why I'm always afraid of getting the first one xd This set is amazing, you should build a minifig scale Citroen 2CV to go with it.
Exactly that! As much as I'd like to have the Parisian Restaurant and can't forgive myself not getting the Brick Bank, I fear - if I started - these two wouldn't be the end of it.
I've gotten into the modulars and just set myself a limit of buying the new one every year, as my only big Lego purchase yearly. No going back to older modulars or getting those that are still on the market right now. You could always set yourself a limit like that, I think it's absolutely worth it, to get a modular once a year. Great sets, slowly building my ztreet
The main reason why I love the corner garage. People generally dislike it, but I think the angled build technique is both fun to do and way more interesting to look at
I personally felt like Corner Garage and Bookshop were low points for the modular theme. But with the Police Station, and now this beautiful hotel, it feels like they've returned to their signature style. I particularly love the colors used here, especially the "light flesh" peach color. I also appreciate how this modular has some empty space. Will give a layout some breathing room when connected to other buildings.
Hey Tiago! Please, please do a “Modular Building Ranking” video. I’m sure a lot of us, myself included, would love to get your thoughts on your favorites, especially with the inside-scoop perspective you have with other designers and the review process for this line. Also - did you ever have a desire to design a Modular Building? If so, what would you have liked to create?
You know what, I'm not only fan of Lego but also your fan. I can feel how honestly you reviewing every Lego set from the former Lego staff eyes... Obrigado
@@TiagoCatarino Did you recently stop with the new elements showcase section in your videos? I quitte liked those, as they gave me a more detailed look into the new elements :)
Agreed. He can do a video review on toilet water tasting and I will watch it. His execution is straight to the point but still detailed and well presented.
I am a technic guy as you know, but the modular buildings are just too good to not build them... this one is still missing in my collection. I am struggeling to chose between this one and the Diner (found one for 320 new). What do you think?
It came out last year so you have time to buy it. The dinner is retired though? So I would try and get that as soon as possible. Prices usually increase with these releases
The best looking still been the Assembly Square considering the tons of references (assembly techniques from other modulars) plus still the absolute biggest modular from all time and tons of details inside... Still this new Hotel could be in a top 5
I’ve never been into modulars/City, but I saw this set at Walmart when I checked the LEGO section and instantly fell in love with it. You’re too right about that end bit, now I have my eyes on the diner, Parisian restaurant, and detective office😂
The lobby of the hotel does seem to be quite empty, especially underneath the stairs! Perhaps with the luggage trolley and the coffee cart (modified to be a refreshements bar) inside, it'll look much more decorated. But the top two floors were done perfectly, so props to lego for that! Not too sure how I feel about the mini art gallery though. I like the clever techniques used for the art pieces. But I would have rather had more space for the hotel or the outdoor dining area. Personally, I love the set, it looks good from the outside AND the inside. But I don't get the feeling that this is a '15th anniversary set'. Maybe I was hoping for a much larger set like the Assembly Square which was 32x48 studs. Still, I haven't bought a modular in a while and the Hotel is definetely a stand-out from the past modulars so I'll definetely be getting it. Thanks again for the review, Tiago!
Wow! What a beautiful building. They have come a long way. Amazing detail. I really want to see how they filled out the floors since there is so many angles and shapes. Amazing job Lego!!
Feel positive to the set at first glance, and love it even more after enjoying your professional review and its cozy tone. I have been gone deep into this modular building pool since the Palace Cinema in 2013. Just like you said at the end of the video, really cannot stop myself from adding each set into my collection! And just some personal thoughts... The set would be more complete if the designer can add a small cafe area + a nostalgic chandelier/jukebox in the main lobby. I would be happier if a bit more metallic gold bricks are included to make the hotel even more classy.
I think there should be a bathroom in the main lobby, as a sort of explanation for the two rooms in the second floor not having one. I might build my own
1:18 they probably heard about cubism, the art movement, and made the funny name into a fine art shop/gallery in lego, that's some advanced humor in a lego building lol
I love this! What a stunning build! I'm obsessed with these modulars. I got Parisian restaurant back in 2017, then an almost 5-year gap before getting Bookshop, Police Station, and Assembly Square! Love them so much! I missed out on downtown diner, though, which ... waaah! That was actually one of my favorites! I plan on snapping this up before too long!
@Fern Forever Same dude, I only got into the modular line in 2018 and the Diner is still my favourite modular. The Hotel looks so stunning though, will have to get that eventually
I like that with the art shop and terrace they delivered a modular that can connect to the Police station modular without weirdly blocking the small side build and billboard on it. This will replace the Chinese New Years set I have there now.
My favorite lego modular building was the corner garage, for the tools and the vintage fuel pump. I hope you will do a video on the highlighted builds of this set.
Just bought this as my first Modular Building. I'm both excited about finally building something this large-scale and detailed and absolutely terrified for my wallet with the prospect of buying more of them. Daily Bugle first, then more modular buildings lol.
I'm very excited to buy this modular, as I plan to add a public bathroom to the ground floor. I'm very confident that will fill the space perfectly, and not leave such an empty feeling inside. 199, for a 3100 piece set seems extremely reasonable. Besides the Home Alone set, I think this will be the first Modular I buy straight from Lego!
Don’t speak bad about my diner set, That is the only modular set I bought because I love the look of those dinners from that era. And it had Elvis recording studio and boxing was a big thing in that time.
Agreed the diner is nice. Surprised he shit on that as an eyesore then praised this color scheme. I like this but it looks like a tough fit. At least the corner garage is sturdy from both sides imho.
This is way better than I had even hoped for! It gives me some Cuban vibes, now I want to build an entire layout in that style :) Although, it might fit in my Parisian city, next to the park maybe?

I really like the modular series and it is the only serie that I have all sets from. The problem with the newest modulars is that they are to finished and too good designed. That is why the cafe corner is still my favorite. During the years I collected 8 middle floors and gave them all a different inner design and modified the panel windows slightly. So every floor is a tiny bit different and build in two mirroring bottom and top floors make it easy my favorite. Non the less I still like to build the new buildings as well.
Thanks for the review Tiago. As a modular collector myself I will surely buy this. I really like the design, but don’t know if it’s the best of the collection. I do think it will be a challenge when it comes to placement it to the previous modulars (due to angle and color scheme)..

Just got my first modular building (Police Station) for Christmas and I have a feeling that I'll be getting more of them just based on how awesome this one looks!
Hey Tiago! Excellent review, I appreciate how in depth you go! I’ve got a theory on the barista minifigure that runs the coffee cart. I assumed right away that it was a nod to the original designer of the Modular buildings, Jamie Berrard as I feel the figure looks quite a bit like him! And since the coffee cart appears to be a reference to the Cafe Corner, it makes sense in my mind that they would include him in this set for the 15th anniversary of the line!
