Only owned GoPro hero 5 black when it came out. Purchased many accessories for it. Long story short I switched to DJI today . I just ordered my upgrade Action 5 Pro.
Awesome Ken. Bro I love that you did all the camera comparisons cause I was curious how it looked next to the Hero 13 black and the DJI A 4 . Thanks my dude
Awesome review Ken, huge upgrade from the 4 imo and @ $349! Dji is going to put gopro out of business, lol. I currently have the Action 3 so i will def be gettin this. Appreciate the info. Btw studio looks amazing 🤘
Man, those specs! what an upgrade. What's a financially savvy way to upgrade from the OA4 to the OA5 Pro? If it's to resell, any recommended places/sites to go? thanks!
Hey man, the osmo action 5 is fine and all that... but please mount your handlebar the right way on your bike! It´s upside down and not even centered...
Warning.... i have a gopro and action 4 .in my opinion the action 4 is much better when it comes to video quality but when it comes to build quality the gopro is better especially when it comes to any water sport or diving.the action 4 battery access is very easy to open and can take a small hit and open .which is what happened to me..The action 5 seems to be the same. if your not using your camera in the water i would say the dji action is a much better camera
I also only use 4K60, but the Hero 13 has the advantage of an 8:7 sensor instead of the OA5 Pro's 4:3 sensor. This means more resolution and more importantly, more vertical information for flexibility in stabilization and framing vertical video for social media
@@HarryKuloh GoPro claims that they've fixed lock-ups by 99% or something for the 13. That means they acknowledge that it's been a problem. Who knows if they've actually done it though. Have you tried?
I didn’t see it when flying , I’m pretty critical about artifacting. Did a few paid shoots via FPV and didn’t see anything. HEVC will always be a smaller more efficient codec just harder to edit depending on the machine.
@@OriginaldoBo You know how you get GPS data in photos on some cameras. How about location data? Say if you're cycling and the GPS location is somehow in the video data? Maybe I'm too far ahead in the future. So you can play the video back in an appropriate software and have the map update by the side. That would be great.
Could you please do a bit more in-depth comparison between the Action 5 pro and the Avata 2? Is it worth adding the camera on top of it? I understand 1/1.3 but what ratio? Aka 8:7 GoPro allowing to have vertical footage while mounted horizontally. Thank you so much for what you. It helps us a ton!!!
Turn off stab it’s fine but ace has the larger sensor personally the ace footage looks like shit during the day so it’s a trade off why the fuck are you filming af night with an action camera
Did DJI fix the horizon data bug that was on the Action 4? I sold my OA4 because of it. The bug was where horizon leveling in Gyroflow wouldn't work most of the time due to corrupt exported gyro data from the OA4. DJI never fixed it. Is it in the OA5 Pro?
I have just ordered an Osmo Action 5 Pro for live streaming via RTMP, and noticed that there are absolutely no specs listed regarding live streaming resolutions supported anywhere! Not even on the official site. Please could someone shed some light on the live streaming resolutions supported by this camera?
Just wait, next year they'll release the Osmo Action 5 Pro Plus Ultra Mega Edition with a slightly bigger battery and a new color, and all the reviewers will like "OMG This is the best action camera ever! DJI has really outdone themselves this time!" Don't get me wrong, this camera looks pretty good, but this whole cycle of releasing a new product every year with minor improvements gets a little tiring.
@@OriginaldoBo Ah, the classic tech cycle. New product, rave reviews, rinse, repeat. It's like watching paint dry, but with more pixels. Just wait a few months, and someone will inevitably find a tiny flaw that's been conveniently overlooked by everyone else. It's a wonder these companies haven't figured out that people might actually appreciate a product that just works without needing constant upgrades.
It is pitty that max. bitrate is just 100 Mbs, this is basically my only complaint I have about this camera so far... There simply more compression artifacts than I would like to see in challenging scenes...
Negative , we’re dealing with a more efficient codec we don’t need these massive files. Fast readout and better processing makes the difference. Haven’t seen any artifacting and I have done numerous paid shoots… all of you that aren’t dealing with paying clients or lack understanding of modern tech need to refrain from commenting till you actually fucking use the camera
More effective codes seems to me is just marketing claim. Difference between old h264 and h265 on same device is minimal. Wondering why Apple puts Prores with 1700 Mbs 4k60p into phone if low bitrate h265 if so good (?). I took action 5 on bike into woods and and in clip I can see the road just "fall apart" due to mackroblocking. Indeed, it is no so obvious on small screens..
Sadly, the GoPro has been the “standard” in this industry for as long as it has existed. On set, we have countless GoPro cameras and batteries. They’re virtually disposable at this point. Like clockwork, I show up anywhere and we need a “crash cam” or a camera to place in a tight spot, we use a GoPro. That’s just how it is. BUT, that’s changing and changing fast. Last year, I bought a 12 to add to my fleet of the 9, 10, and 11. Naturally, I got a 12 as those older model have been subjected to abuse, salt water, drops, you name it. Since the Hero 10, they’ve all been kind of a joke in terms of innovation. Now the 13 comes out with a totally new battery and it’s just a SLIGHTLY enhanced 12? Woah woah woah…hold on a second here? You want me/us to invest in a totally new battery that isn’t backwards compatible in any way and you don’t introduce ANYTHING new to the camera other than gimmicky interchangeable lenses I’ll never use? Yeah, I’m done. We’re moving exclusively to the Action 5 now and Insta360 Go3 S for FPV stuff. GoPro hasn’t innovated in over 5 years. Enough is enough and it’s time to just stop buying anything from them. We will not be investing in any new GoPros this year for the first time in 7 years. We’re all moving to the Action 5.
Because it literally doesn’t effect the footage and anyone talking about it doesn’t know shit about efficiency of codecs… stop drinking shitty mads tech kool aid.
Is it just me but on my 4k screen, the image quality looks quite bad - both the Osmo Action 5 Pro and the Neo looks horrible, compared to the go pro promo video - looks super over sharpened, lack of detail, grainy, etc.
@OriginaldoBo So why does Gopro have such a higher bandwidth rate as both cams use hevc? I am trying to match a fx3 and fx30 with gopros and it has been challenging. I am a fan that respects your opinion. There is no need for insults. Educating people instead of lashing out will pay dividends. Thanks for your reply Ken, I do appreciate your videos.

I’ve just purchased and started using the Osmo Action 5 Pro. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. THANK YOU DJI❤️!!
Really impressed with how much effort they put into making this an ACTION camera. Lots of features for specifically being out and doing stuff.

The new DJI Action 5 Pro is very impressive. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
