- Cité Soleil, ironically named the 'City of the Sun,' stands in stark contrast to its name. Located in Port-au-Prince, it’s been the poorest neighborhood in the poorest capital of the poorest country in the Americas for years. In 2004, the UN labeled it 'the most dangerous place in the world,' a grim testament to its enduring hardships.
I ventured into this harsh reality to uncover the stories and struggles of those living on the edge of survival. From navigating its treacherous streets to meeting resilient locals, my day in Cité Soleil sheds light on the incredible challenges and unbreakable spirit of its people. Join me as we delve into the heart of Haiti’s most daunting environment and reveal the raw truths behind the headlines.

I remember the first time I went to this neighborhood in 2018 it was during the 3 years of peace. I made a song to commemorate this period hopefully that would motivate this people to keep this peace...but ...
🙏💯💯💯
What hurts the most is the kindhearted people left to suffer. Anyone who has a Haitian friend, had a friend for life, they eat you eat, they will introduce you to their entire family once they call you a friend.
Thank you for making this video

Thank you for watching!
I’m Haitian and I appreciate what you doing I been in America since 5 years old this is the most authentic video I ever found!
This is what a documentary should look like. So underrated but you have my respect bro!
I greatly appreciate your kind words. I'll continue to get better and better as time continues.
I live in haiti and these areas you have ventured into are extremely dangerous, much respect to you for doing this. I wish you could Chronicle both sides of the wars g9 and gpep but that would be very dangerous. I would like you to do a video on the rest of the country I hate the fact that the only media coming out of haiti is the gang wars in the capitol. Although the rest of the country is still dangerous it's nowhere close to paup and alot more beautiful. Great series very insightful.
Thank you for your input Alex. We did reach out to the leaders of G9 and they wouldn't give us any time, and asked me to return next week for an interview with BBQ. Haiti is a wonderful country and I understand that not all Haiti looks like this. I will return again one day soon!

I have friends that were deported from the US that live there. These are pretty tough guys to say the least, I've never heard or seen them clearly afraid until I got to talk to them after they'd been there for a year or so. Must be insane there. We fell out of touch and I think of them often. They did a lot for me while they were in America, maybe saved me a couple times, fed me and took me in when no one else would
i dont think most people understand where this man just walked. the connects and balls you must have
Thank you for watching, it was a very memorable experience.

I grew up in Cite Soleil. I left Haiti 22 years ago and never went back there. I wish I could help your videos to look more cinematic. I have a masters in film production from Full Sail Universty. Thank you so much for taking the time to shoot this video in Haiti. May God bless you a hundredfold!!!
Thank you for watching and it was my pleasure to visit Cite Soleil for two days. I met many kind people in a very bad situation. Not all of my personal experiences there are filmed, I'm not a professional videographer or journalist. I'm just a man with a camera. I'm glad to hear you got out and made a career for yourself, meaning others may have a bright future in front of them. All the best!

I just noticed that the poorest countries in the world are home of BLACK people. Why? Don't be mad at me, this is just my observation. I am not discriminating anyone.
Afghanistan is very poor and not one black person in sight!
Everybody is poor but they don't mind breeding bringing kids into the world and can't take care of them.....Unreal
I don’t think even if I was a paid journalist I’d go around these areas. But thanks for showing us and talking to the PEOPLE to get a different perspective.
I don't get paid to do this either, and it's much deeper than RUclips views. It keeps me humble and aware of the problems in our world. I won't stop, and I have many other new countries to explore.
Chris ! Thank you so much for the work you do. I am from Haiti, it hurst so bad to see a country that is 3 1/2 hours away from the US in that condition. To repeat your own words that is a war zone. No human being deserves to live under these conditions. That is so sad and it hurst so bad. The gap is so wide and we have places in Haiti where people are living in mansions.
Thank you for this excellent documentary Chris 🙏

My heart is broken!! I think of a country that fought and gained their freedom; should be so much pride but yet a country is doomed for destruction. If I were were a billionaire, I would take a billion and repair as much as that would allow. Fellow Haitians, please rise above this. You have so much potential
Sometimes so called " freedom " is bad . Being under a better system , say British , may reduce local corruption and bring an outside force above the local politicians.
Think of EU, Common Wealth etc.
Sub Saharah Africa is " free" .
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

yeah man, this is not a denegration of Haiti but a needed torch to illuminate the darkness and plight of a people...thank you Chris for this and all your videos
Gwan Sean! He the man!👌
I live in Indonesia and I am very grateful for it. even though in developing countries like Indonesia it still exists in certain areas, it might not be as bad as in the Cite Soleil coverage that you make. especially when it's exacerbated by the criminal conditions there. therefore I am very grateful for the coverage you have made, I hope it can awaken many people to be more grateful, and especially it can help conditions there to be better, especially for women and children. May God be with you in covering other things that so far are still rarely known to many people, sir.
I wish I can build them a water tank so they can have fresh water💯
The children at the movie are precious. So sad they have to grow up in such a place surrounded by violence.

Yeah! The french really crippled Haiti and the politicians seem to suffer psychologically, probably don't really have good plans, implementation and the ability to get things done, also for the part where they probably used the funds for a free meals, that is..where 💯 💯 is it suppose to come from
Seem like the French had they hands in on everything . .we have a haitian / French culture in New Orleans,LA

So with all the fighting going on what have they achieved because from what we see things just seem to be getting worse so what is the whole point of it. Such a sad state of Affairs when people don't know better.
He told him that this is not gangs it's people who fight for the conditions, yet the man continues to call them gangs. They classify people of color with these names.
What is a gang to you? They are not fighting conditions, they are fighting each other and the police. If you kill someone you are a murderer no matter what name you want to call yourself. These are gangs and gang members. Let's not sugarcoat it. This has NOTHING to do with colour, because I've met many white gang members too. Guess what I call them? correct - GANGSTERS!
I wish more natives would return home and fix Haiti
That would be nice, most Haitians that I interact with they will quickly tell you how many years they left Haiti and never looked back and has absolutely no remorse about it. it's very sad because I think that if the diaspora had played an integral part in their country by helping to keep the economy afloat in some kind of way things wouldn't be as bad as it is. Probably 🤷🏾♀️
Blessings to the Haitian people 🙏🏾✊🏾🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
I can understand them am from st. Lucia
My daughter was born in Cite Soleil. We just evacuated her a few months ago. This breaks my heart
How humans made such a trashbelt of this planet never seems to amaze 🤷🏼♂️😢

Would you mind sharing the info on where I could find some local guys to guide me (stringers). I know this might seem lame but after seeing tons of war footage, 1:48 gave me slight anxiety
It makes me so sad to see my brother’s and sister’s living in such subhuman conditions how do the government expect the people to do in such situations for daily life.
I agree with you 100%, and based on my research this Cite Soleil has looked like this for a long time. Change must come Perry. Thank you for watching.
Chris, these people deserves to be in living in much better life condition, considering the sacrifices their ancestors made to world history it is because of Haitian people that he have human rights throughout the world. It’s kinda strange the people that started revolution so the generations to come could have better life now are living in the worst possible state.

Fighting over land. One gang member explained it to me like this, why does the Lion fight the Cheetah if it will not be eaten after. The answer was, because they are enemies since birth, nobody taught them.
@@ChrisMustList yes I believe that, and also the politicians involved then make it worst because when elections come they use those young men and I understand they accepted for many reasons....ect
