Thanks once again to the NBS for a rarity from JS Bach and an extremely pleasant surprise. Listening and watching this video has been a delight. I particularly enjoyed the short Christie with the clarity of harmony of the Soprano and Alto. I also was highly pleased by the continuo of the cellist. I do wish the NBS would also credit the dignified lady cellist, who performances, always enhances the productions I view. The second Kyrie was particularly enlightening which I felt was both alive and vibrant. Congratulations to all. I'm sure many others will come to this discovery and be as satisfied as I have with this new discovery.
Schitterend.
Bach's Latin church music is an interesting and, apart from the D Major Magnificat and B Minor Mass, neglected aspect of his work---dwarfed as they are by the vast output of Cantatas and the Passion-settings. I don't think that enough research has really gone into the practices of the major Lutheran churches during Bach's time vis a vis the use of Latin: Most people seem to still assume that Latin was not used and that Bach's Latin settings are therefore 'odd' for a Protestant composer, but that, obviously, is not the case. We have the four Missae Brevis (or 5 is the early Kyrie-Gloria version of the B Minor Mass is counted); the two versions of the Magnificat; this Kyrie-Christe-Kyrie arranged from Durante; the Palestrina Mass arrangements; Cantata BWV 191 "Gloria in excelsis" (movements also contained in the B Minor Mass); the D and C Major Sanctus settings; (not to mention the various Latin settings in the Neu Leipziger Gesangbuch in use during Bach's time) so obviously Latin did play a part in Lutheran services at the time. Incidentally, is there a plan to record the E-flat Magnificat with the Christmas interpolations? "Freut euch und jubiliert" is one of my favorites.
This is absolutely beautiful and well interpreted. By the way, is there anybody who knows about the information on this piece? I googled but nothing came out.

So, only the Christe is composed by Bach?
Yes, the Christe is by Bach, the Kyrie is by Durante.
