My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

My "mom" has ALWAYS tried to make me fat, despite wanting to be slim herself. Some kind of mental or personality disorder. 30 year later, she still tries to. Perplexed how I continue to remain slim. All that food she brings go straight in the bin the minute she leaves.

Their caretakers are profound enablers! If an obese person is bed ridden, give plates of celery, “It’s that or nothing!”
But they don’t want to hear the complaining….

I feel so sad for these people and their families. My husband lost a parent and some of his siblings prematurely to morbid obesity. I know the toll morbid obesity takes on a family, even when it is in the 230 to 300 pound range.

12:51 Since many personal things have been revealed in these profiles of Dr Now's patients, I've wondered if this could be talked about : the massive amount of stool someone would expel if they ate 12,000 or so calories of food daily. Do they have intestinal problems or problems with constipation or diarrhea after the surgery?

Does a lot of people really live like this in the USA?
Does't they buy food in stores and make it at home? (We do, in the Netherlands).
Meat, vegetables, pasta, rice, bread, salads.. you can make so much nice and healthy food at home.
I never understand all the ordering. It must cost a lot of money, and the most people on my 600 lbs live are poor.

you can still eat alot of unessential amino acid, saturated and trans fat, adn tons of diferent type of sugar at home
but i get it, expensive and often overcooks in oils
but who care essential amino acid, mono poly unsaturated fat (and body require no sugar since gluconeogenesis, body can produce sugar)

It's the person's eating habits rather than the country. Their addiction is to take out fast food. Like taking a toke from a crack pipe. They won't eat regular food, they consider it beneath their notice. They could get just as full on regular food, including treats.

Agree. I wish I understood how people can eat all the comfort food and not do anything as their weight changes. You would think it would make them change, not continue; but, I have heard food addiction is like a drug.😮

It’s not particularly this video but I don’t like it when the person says they can only afford the bad food but then they get their nails done or get a new tattoo( dolly, look her up). A tattoo costs $100s of dollars but you can’t afford to buy something somewhat healthy? I mean I understand you do you with your money but I just find it hypocritical and can annoy me easily. I am on at minimum wage job but I still try to buy organic/ vegan diet while paying rent and car insurance, stuff like that, and I can make it back. It’s hard but I get through it.

    • @hazelnutcase357

Because in their mind a fast food burger costs $20 and to make that same burger will cost $100 because you have to buy in "bulk" (6 buns, 1/2 kg meat, 1kg of onion, 1kg of cheese, 1 head of lettuce, 6 tomatoes) then all the work and cleaning. They don't see the 6 burgers - because it counts as 1 burger.

    • @mackenzietemme6041
      @mackenzietemme6041 2 месяца назад

@@hazelnutcase357 but you have to eat sooo much fast food to be satisfied I feel like. While when you make it at home or something with good healthy ingredients you feel fuller( again in my opinion). Also vegetables and fruit fill you up more than meat. I’m trying to become vegetarian/ vegan( so hard to give up dairy but I will eat more non dairy items) but have to eat fish because otherwise I’m iron deficient and the pills don’t work and make me sick. And fish fills me up so fast it’s not even funny. I go to Whole Foods and go to their hot bar and grab 2 fish fillets for less than $5 and I’m full for the rest of the day and I weigh 167 lbs. A salad for Walmart( the bag ones with everything in it) can fill me up for the whole day and it’s maybe 600 calories with the dressing. And it costs $3.50-$4. I don’t know there are so many options but maybe people are just not informed. They should make us take a nutrition class in high school or something so we can learn about what kinds of foods do to our body and how we can make better choices.
