    It's not that the test is legitimate as a statement on the CT, it's that an aluminum frame for the towing hitch is ridiculous. Steel bends, aluminum breaks. It's as simple as that. Feel free to assume that everyone will keep their CTs in pristine condition and definitely investigate any damage that occurs.
    That's the key point. Aluminum should never have been the material choice for that part of the video. They covered the entire thing in extremely heavy stainless steel sheets, and then put aluminum as the single point of failure for the trailer hitch; all for vanity.

      It’s not for vanity it’s to lighten the frame and extend range. The aluminum is tested and engineered to have the same or the same required strength as any other metal. The reason the hitch snapped off is because it was literally slammed on a concrete block from 10 feet above the ground.

      The door panels cam off on the cyber truck which is a critical issue that they have to look into on all models but what ppl aren't mentioning the glass breaking on every door slam on the f1-50 (but its true that it is not marketed the same, as the cybertruck is supposedly incredibly durable)

    Update: he dropped the f150 a lot of times on cement blocks ON THE HITCH and it only bent the frame. Then he dropped the cement blocks in the hitch and the frame went back to normal, it never came out.

    The cybertruck is a joke. Its a vehicle that noone actually needs. Its able to do things that dont need to be done but cant handle shit that needs to be done everyday.
    Another thing is that if a normal truck is broken it can be fixed, you can pinpoint what broke and replace it. You cant do it with the cybertruck

The cheap plastics and cheap fkin materials used for seats.. any tesla I get in all you hear is fucking creaking plastic and the sound of that fake leather shit material rubbing together . Literally I ask any one with a tesla drive with no music on , pure silence .. Also those pedals are made with the shittiest aluminum I have ever fucking seen.     The only think in his video that got to me was when he pulled the top panels (above the windows) off by hand, only held on with glue. I wonder if those panels will give out eventually due to the glue degradation over the years.

      He had to start it off with a tool so panel bond should hold up well under normal conditions. Adhesive has been used reliably for years now and can match the strength of welds in certain applications. However, I can't guess on the grade of glue Tesla used so time will tell.

    Watch Whistlindiesel's new video where he slams the rear end of the F-150 in the same way except he does it many more times. After you're done take this video down and stop making excuses. Slamming the rear end also happens frequently while offroading. A truck that can't handle that is a POS.

    So this entire video is based off the assumption the drop was what broke the back and I don’t doubt that but it still did not have any type of frame in the back where the receiver is. And car manufacturers don’t sell cars and expect every experience to be the same. It is there job to prepare the car for the unexpected as much as possible.

    I’ve said it a thousand times. The cybertruck is a novelty vehicle, a parody of the pickup truck not meant to be taken seriously. And his video and durability test proved that and put on display not just how bad Tesla is at making cars, but how bad overall build quality is and how little these manufacturers actually care about their customers. From cracking frames to door panels falling off to having to connect your vehicle to the internet to charge it.

    8:37 I do "real off roading" on a occasion... my truck doesn't have a "max ground clearance" or "off-road mode" so now I'm confused how to proceed.

    I agree that the "Testing" was insane, most people don't have to worry about this. However, a steel frame would never crack and snap off like that, at most it would bend.
    Seems to me that there is a good reason why some manufacturers opt for an aluminum body on a steel frame. So, my thoughts are that, is this likely? No... but I sure would've guessed that one the parts that takes the most stress would be hardened steel, not aluminum.

      Steel is several times less ductile than aluminum so the opposite is actually true in this case. That’s one of the reasons they chose aluminum at that specific part in the first place. Along with other concerns like weight and resistance to the elements. In the future they’ll probably make that part out of magnesium due to its superior strength per pound of material and excellent dampening capabilities. Alloys are even being developed to increase corrosion resistance several fold. Which means you’ll have a stronger lighter part that’s more resistant to wear and tear that’s more ductile cheaper.

      @@Neoprenesiren I know i'm replying fairly late into this, but dude... no one's making a frame out of magnesium. They used to use magnesium for a lot of car parts in Formula 1, and while an accident in a cybertruck alone wouldn't make it easy to ignite, when they do, it's an inferno. The frame will be subject to friction and vibration more than most other parts of the car, and if you have an accident where an ICE car catches on fire, or the battery is pierced, you will have an uncontrollable and very intense fire.
      It's also 4 times the cost of steel. Steel is used so widely because you can do practically ANYTHING to it, even extreme stress, and it will not shear off. Aluminium absolutely will. It makes zero sense to make the body panels out of steel and the frame aluminium - it should be the other way round.

    The rear coming off is a big problem as they advertise it as an off-road vehicle and if you had ever looked at any hardcore off-roading / rock crawling videos you would have seen slapping the ass end like that is not unusual.
    As for tractor/truck pulls they don't apply tongue weight they apply more weight to the skid.

      Also remember that Cody slammed the door of the Cybertruck once and it failed, he slammed the Toyota Hilux door 1000x, he can do this because the Toyota Hilux wasn't made out of lego

    Yeah. It was totally disingenuous to suggest that pulling the Ford broke the frame. It is clear that wasn't what broke the frame. He needs to be held accountable because he said in his video that he was trying to be as fair as possible. If that were true, he should have lifted the Ford 6' off the ground and slammed the hitch into a concrete block. It may not have been as bad as the CT, but it would have at least been fair. It probably would have still bent the frame, which a bent frame is still a useless frame. Steel bends, aluminum breaks. Either way, the frame is toast.

      I say this as someone who really wanted the cybertruck, until I seen whistling diesel review it.
      Everything he did with the cybertruck, my truck could have done and still drive, and tow just fine.
      (Excluding the explosives, the glass.)
      It's body is strong, so is the glass, and motors. But it is not meant to do truck things. And you can tell by his video.

    Obviously. It was way out of what most people would do with a cybertruck. That being said I have an old 90's unibody jeep grand cherokee I take rock crawling I have landed the full weight of my vehicle on my bumper..more times then i would like to admit and I have yanked alot of people out even after that. I DO think that rear subframe still needs reinforcing.

    To be fair, the F-150 was undrivable literally right after being driven off the flatbed and had to be fixed so it could drive again, whereas the cyber truck didn't become undrivable until going through most of the tests. Also, I'm guessing the rear of the frame got cracked at 5 minute 25 seconds in the video, which is why it subsequently got pulled off. And finally, how come they didn't smash up the F-150 at the end with baseball bats and other stuff like you did the Cybertruck? The Cybertrucks side windows took multiple throws of heavy metal weights at them without breaking, whereas the f-150s windows would have shattered immediately 😂

      Yes, but the f150 could be fixed by them.
      Once the CT broke, it was completely out of commission. They couldn't even take it to tesla to get it driving again. But with the f150 was fixable once it couldn't be driven, it just needed a new driveshaft.
      Is that ideal? No. But at least the f150 could be fixed. The CT, you're basically stuck at the mercy of tesla's repair team in most cases.

My bet is if they did that they would of been able to drive it... but they're kind um... in the kindest way possible: Not Smart. Also the Cybertruck went through HELL in comp because it actually completed the obstacles that would damage it and also went into orbit for the jump while the f150 kinda just jumped over a dog I guess?

    Tbh I off-road and that tesla should not be having structural damage from that. The amount of times I have bashed my bumper coming off stuff and my truck is still fine. Body on frame construction is all you should be doing for a truck.

    If you look at how thin the aluminum casting is on that bumper it will be a matter of time before people will snap them off. If you rewatch the video all they were doing was pulling that f-150 off of those cylinders and they stepped on the brake and the bumper snapped off. People do that stuff all the time pulling vehicles out of mud holes and stuff. The frame is fragile for an 11,000 lbs tow rating.
    The reason the f-150 wasn't able to make it over the concrete cylinders is because the wheel spacing is the same as the low spots meaning the front and rear tires hit the low spots at the same time, the cybertruck apparently has just enough wheel spacing so when the front tires were in the low spot as the rear tires were on the high spot and visa versa.
    Even if the frame was cracked from coming down on the concrete cylinders, that would NOT have happened with a steel-framed truck.

      Nonsense, the wheelbase of an F-150 crew cab is practically identical. Having less ground clearance means a lower breakover angle, hence the F-150 getting stuck on the culverts. What part of the frame being damaged after the entire weight of the vehicle slammed on it from a 4ft vertical drop do you not understand? It didn't break pulling the F-150, it broke before that. A steel frame truck would have still bent the frame rendering it structurally compromised, the end result in practice is no different.

      @@boostav That f-150 is a supercrew with the 6.5ft bed and according the ford website it has a wheelbase of 157.2in.
      The cybertruck has a 143in wheelbase that's a 14in difference. So depending the spacing of the concrete cylinders that would make a difference.

    being a retired navy machinist mate i have seen people do things beyond capability of material/ the amount of shock loads they did on parts of the truck.. each one would be considered an accident. By my opinion they did at least 4 accidents on the truck before they pulled at a bad angle and did a final shock load on the bumper. Aluminum is only so hard. If i had better physical knowledge I would be able to do rough calculations on the stress and shear loads they did to the vehicle
    after any crash there is damage to things you do not expect. and then expecting the tonto cover to work after 4+ accidents the the vehicle.
    I have been off road before and every trip of extreme off reading required bringing out the welder to put something back on.. or towing beyond the limits of the tow straps or bumpers or whatever... basically something will break.

    the F-150 became inoperative as soon as it came off the trailer! It was taken to a workshop to change a very expensive part (outside the video, of course) so that the video could be completed. And it was even said that it could cross the country

      Not true. The F 150 only broke it's driveshaft which they said cost them less than $1000 to replace. Now I don't know if that's the real cost but let's be serious, it's just a driveshaft, it's cheap and readily available and relatively easy to change.

    The Cybertruck's front and rear end are manufactured that way and made from 6000 series aluminum. According to official recommendations, frame straightening isn't allowed. "Pulling or pushing the body structure can damage the integrity of the component," says Tesla in its structural repair guidelines. bottom line: aluminum has no ductile strength.

While it experienced similar pulling forces, it wasn’t the same scenario. The Cybertruck dropped from over 6 feet, with its entire weight of over 6,000 pounds impacting the hitch.
      But it’s not just the static weight. As the truck was moving forward before it fell, it gained both forward and downward momentum. This means the actual force on the hitch was much greater than the truck’s weight due to the combination of gravitational acceleration and its initial forward speed. This impact far exceeded the Cybertruck’s rated tongue load of 1,100 pounds, likely reaching many times over the rating. The Ford should have a similar hitch rating given its comparable tow rating, but these forces were far beyond normal operating conditions.

      @@giovannifoulmouth7205 if you were involved in such a crash with Cybertruck you might welcome a brand new one, but it's also not at all impossible to fix, that part can be replaced, and insurance companies are starting to wrap their heads around Gigacast parts, my local 3rd party Tesla repair shop was explaining the process and what he charges, he said one company allowed him to order one recently for a Model Y or Model X (it wasn't clear which one he was pointing at, rear of Freemont MY is cast, front and rear of the 4680 MY, and front of MX/MS), so maybe we'll see this start to take off for cars still appraising/booking high

    Ford and GM are recalling vehicles with bad transmissions and motors. A windshield wiper motor and a accelerator pedal cover falling off are not in the same league. Tesla mentioned gate driver. Has me thinking the manufacturer aka supplier used the wrong value resistor for current limiting to the gate. A sub 1 cent part. Took 1000s of trucks in the wild to find it.

    The rear broke because the hitch hit the logs when backing up. It’s why he cut it out of his video. Then the fall off the sewer pipes loaded a compromised rear, cracking it the rest of the way.
    Then when pulling it, the shock cracked what was left.

      You’re correct. It exceeded shear from reinforced concrete pipe testing (and drop to a concrete block) before the subsequent tow load snapped the frame

    So a couple issues here. 1.this isn’t a horizontal pulling issue as much as a shock loading vertical issue. Yeah at a tractor pull nothing broke because they were on something somewhat smooth and never jolted. BUT get some actual tongue weight going on a more rough road you have the conditions to cause the break. 2. Just proven in the last video. The ford was dropped in its tow hitch multiple times. The frame did bend like I expected. But never snapped. Frames are engineered in such a way (for trucks) that you would experience a rigging failure before a frame failure in the situations that were in the video.

    I can absolutely see your point about the rear hitch and I was very impressed with several of the tests Diesel put the Cyber Truck through. Where I was surprised is the low quality in which many of the pieces were put together on the truck. From the window trim to the mirrors to the door panels all coming off like it was held on with cheap glue. I felt like the Ford had better quality over all as far as holding together during the beatings both trucks received. I still think the Cyber Truck won over all though.

    As someone whose both hard dropped onto a hitch/bumper and pulled out vehicles at some point afterward, I was surprised as well. This actually happens to long wheelbase vehicles off-roading.
    Cody has done all this with other vehicles, especially backing off the trailer/flatbed. Those vehicles suffered far less than the CT. It's not unique treatment.
    What people don't realize is that if a vehicle impresses him, he'll say it. He bought a bunch of hiluxes after his first one handled his destruction so well. The CT hasn't and he's still speak pretty positively, actually, which is what surprised me more. Marketers made some bold claims and even mild reviewers have exposed them. There shouldn't be much surprise... it's not a rugged vehicle.

      Long wheelbase vehicles off roading don't jump from 4ft high and land on the tow hitch vertically, they scrape/bang it. There's a huge difference, none of his tests show this same scenario. The Cybertruck had no problems backing off the flatbed, it's the F-150 that broke doing that.

      @@boostav Close up of the footage reflects most of the drop hits the rear tires and a much smaller drop is what cracks the frames. I have done similar drops all the time with suvs and trucks . Steel bends and can easily be rewelded . Aluminum isn't ideal for the frame of a truck

    Let alone using a chain to pull the F150 and shock loading the damaged frame. Probably would have been fine if they used a recovery rope. You can see the frame break when the chain gets some slack then snaps tight when the F150's tires get hung up on the concrete pipe.

    Whistin Diesel is a troll, that's his channel, he takes vehicles that are 'nice things'/sacred cows and breaks them. He's done this to the Hilux, G Wagon, a Ferrari F8 (burned to the ground in a hay field) and a Chieftain (main battle tank) among others, the Cybertruck was always going to get decimated. Complaining about the frame breaking was a cheap shot because it was clear they dropped the tail of the truck onto the concrete, but it did take the explosives like a champ.

    Who the hell makes a frame out of cast aluminum anyway yeah the driveshaft broke on the F150 but that’s a $550 part at a junkyard literally easy to replace on the other hand. The frame to the whole cyber truck is destroyed from pulling out the f150 that’s what you get for making cars at a cheap materials. The frame should be made out of steel, not cast anything. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea but at least on the F150, you don’t have to total the truck when the frame is damaged on any type of vehicle especially if it snaps in half Tesla stuff is cheap

    The tongue weight on the hitch is 1100 lbs. this jerk dropped over a huge cement pipe and landed the entire truck weight on a large wooden tie with only the hitch. The truck weighs 6000 lbs. the tongue weight was grossly exceeded.

    The ford failed immediately after driving off the truck. It also took front end damage. As far as I can tell, the cybertruck took no damage, but is essentially overlooked

    In a normal truck your steel frame is not going to snap, it might bend. But if you hit a pothole at +80 mph pulling maximum weight you could very well snap your frame in the Cyber Truck due to the tension exerted at that failure point (the odds of that happening with a steel frame truck are next to zero). At some point these owners are going to experience this catastrophic failure as stress cracks appear (which is maybe why the Cyber Truck is having difficulties being insured - I’ve read about instances where Geico won’t insure it, for example). The problem is in the die-cast method being used and the properties of the material used. 🤷‍♂️

    what i find funny is despite it having a damaged frame in the back bumper it still pulled the f150 out, like it succeeded in the pull out. damaged sure. a 45 mph rear-ender ruined on of my truck hitches, im sure that fall ruined theirs. ive also tore off my hitch by pulling in an odd angle.

    If you watch the intro of WD's video, you will see the drop without the same cut used later in the video :) *I've watched it several times at 0.25 speed, and it seems pretty clear that it was only the palstic part of the bumper, and not the frame that hits the last concrete section.

    The difference between the cyber truck and traditional trucks....you cant beat on a cyber truck off roading, but you can with other traditional trucks and many have without catastrophic failure.
    The cyber trucks subframe being a problem will show in a few more years of use due to metal fatigue, if it truly is a problem.

    I was rear ended by someone going 35 or more directly to my trailer hitch and have not had any damage to the frame and just had to beat the hitch out and replace it i have since done truck pulls, and rowing through Tennessee and have had no issues with my hitch so one baby bump like this should not have caused enough damage to have had this happen and rip the hitch from the frame

    I take your point that the charging situation may be standard and that there was nothing out of the ordinary with it. That does not change the fact that it's a bad design. Charging stations should be able to accept payment. I should not need to register with your company any more than the buying process to use something I own. Not a cyber truck flaw, but definitely a tesla flaw.

    For me it was a few things.
    1 It is impressive at the shear amount much damage it took before it bricked.
    2 It looks like they got their side window glass figured out. It survived far in excess what anyone could expect from autoglass.
    3 How high they Dukes of Hazard it over that little hump.
    The only thing that disappointed me were the doors getting damaged when slammed.

    F-150 couldnt pass the cement blocks cause its axles were further from each other than in cybertruck. But yeah it was not proper test. Some what they did on the video may happen to 0.5% of the owners by accidentally.

    When you go wheeling you do land on your bump at times the surface area of the cast is very tiny compared to a flexible steel bracket
