4 quarts of oil is about 7 pounds. 21 quarts of oil is about 36 pounds. So in a situation where the ring gets hooked on something, it's far safer to wear a generic rubber ring. It's even safer not to wear a ring at all. I used to wear a ring, but stopped when a friend of mine lost a finger by shorting his wedding ring across a truck battery.
Yeah exactly some pretty bad marketing right there
How the hell you even pull that off? Starter im guessing but not the usual method of finger removal for mechanics and rings! Watched my uncle shorten his ring finger catching his wedding band on the fins of an alternator while vehicle was running!
like a 12-14v battery? lol DC battery? yea that wont do any thing but get hot...also how did a small ring reach both terminals? i agree with everything you said until the battery part lol-
@@joshuaaho920 In the 80s I worked in an office - a window cleaner (inside) slipped off his ladder, only fell about 2 or 3 feet, but his ring caught on the window latch, didn't completely sever his finger, but it was hanging off.
As machinist, I'll tell you we never wear ANYTHING on below the elbow...no rings, watches or bracelets. nothing, not ever not even rubber.
this channel displays materialism at a very high level
Props for calling out those who politicize vehicles. It's nonsense!
Regarding choosing sides,
My family has always referred to ourselves as "car people" not ford, not Chevy, not Mazda, not diesel, not rally, not offroad, but CARS (to include trucks). Anything that is significant, we are into it. Be that performance, or ability, or history it's all neat and it's stupid to fight over it.
This content is great fun and it was great to see y'all at sand hollow! Keep up the good work!
That truck looks 100 times better with those fender flares y'all made for it. Elon should take notice.
I think the issue is wind drag. The fenders definitely improved the look, but will most likely hurt efficiency, which to each consumer may not be an issue, but the ones that buy the truck and try to get the most range it will be an issue. Its all good though, the aftermarket will have the consumers back.
@@joepitts3638 efficiency........ you've seen the shape of the thing stock right??

this thing cost 100k, looks like a rugged car, but can be broken like a cheap 20k car.

@@Elysium137 fr
On the ring ad. Isn’t the point for it to break easily to prevent degloving or other injuries?
this is what i was thinking lol, very bad marketing
That's what I'm saying
Yeppers - Try tying a 10 lb fishing line to your metal ring and a solid object to cautiously pull against and you'll get an idea of how much damage even that might do if suddenly caught.
Best!
Exactly what I was thinking. Don't think my finger could hold that much so I wouldn't want the ring to either😂. I'd think the easier it breaks away the better
$40 for some rubber is crazy as well, and on top of that they just order them from china, etc. if you really want something like those rings just get them from wish

I drive a Raptor and my wife drives a Model Y Tesla so I really enjoy these cyber truck videos. Trying to take on the Baja 1000 or even pikes peak would be awesome
Yeah, great idea. An electric vehicle in the Baja 1000. Just have have a supercharger chase vehicle....
Nice to hear someone not crap on Tesla quality. My 2018 model 3 has 180k km and still feels like new. No panel gaps BUT if it did then who cares. I’ve owned Hyundais with clanks and rattles from new. My Xterra is even more solid and people say a 4Runner is better. So far, I have no complaints. Fanboys and trolls are annoying. Just take care of your vehicle.
I have been watching your videos for a couple of yearS or more and have to say it is great to see how much evolution is happening right in front of everybodys eyes. You use to be in a smaller shop, had less toys, less equipment and largely focused on towing. These days you are opening up to all sorts of possibilities and having fun doing it. Witnessing your growth, educating yourself, experimenting with things many only dream of, then educating and entertaining the public through your videos....EXCELLENT JOB!!
I have always said, if people open up, come together on projects and technology WE as a whole can accomplish almost anything. People are generally scared of innovation, scared of losing the "traditional" things in life. Imagine, a phone that we can use while we drive, without a long cord. Imagine, heating your food up in seconds. Imagine, a power saving diode emitting more light than a tungsten bulb...evolution...who woulda thunk it? LOL.
If WE come together and support innovation, it will be much easier, and more enjoyable to progress with success rather than regress or not even trying. EV's may not be for every application or best for all conditions however, if we keep trying WE'LL get there. One of the first cars ever built was electric...Jay Leno owns one. Thanks for helping others see the potential, and thanks for your videos.
Put hydraulics on CyberTrax and a HUGE subwoofer setup on that battery because you would need 10 alternators to provide that battery current otherwise. I literally typed this early in the video and once you mentioned hydraulics I realized this was not just coincidental, I needed to edit and bring something up for you to consider. I put hydraulics on 3 vehicles in my time but that was 20+ years ago. 16 switches will require 4 pumps and 4 dumps or 2 pumps with a gnarly custom made 8 dump manifold and a few extra check valves. Buy lots of extra keys for between the pump head and the motor of the hydraulic pumps because I am sure you guys are gonna put some to the test. 48 Volts might be quick enough (especially with the available amperage) but I don't know what that cyber truck weighs. I would be willing to help brainstorm or even help build. I worked in TV production for 13 years with many networks, mainly for ESPN working as a traveling utility for Monday Night Football. I was an Avionics tech in the Air Force. I am unemployed and would love to help you guys with any project even if its just 1. Thanks for reading.
Love the recap you did at the end. It’s cool to show the tests and actions, also interesting to hear the method behind the madness. Keep ‘em coming
Dudes.. that wrap looks sick!
I have a thought with the Cybertruck doing the Baja 5000 Dave. So I had this idea that originally was being invented as a method of being able to change out fully electric semi truck's battery system. So the invention idea is a conex trailer that has been modified to hold multiple battery bank systems that would have a rectangular styled battery that can be swapped out quickly and easily, allowing the electric semi to swap out the drained battery, for a fully charged battery. The conex itself would be setup like any semi truck 53ft trailer, and depending on the clients needs can be setup to charge both on grid, with solar, off grid, all solar, or on grid only like at places such as truck stops. For your needs on the Baja, I think it would be amazing to be able to find a badass simple modular battery system, that would allow you to stop at a pit stop, basically have a small backup battery system to be able to run computer electrical systems in between the change, and use a small 4 winch setup to make it easy to lower the battery, and install another battery fully charged. Honestly the concept could work amazingly well especially in cold climate locations like where you live in Utah. Having a conex with multiple battery banks ready to go could work perfect to allow the cybertruck the ability to possibly run the Baja 5000, and do incredibly well.
Thank you Dave that was so good.. I think the amazing thing about this is that the truck that you were using was only a dual motor. And it was amazing. Cyberbeast full send Aloha

To the editing crew, Great job! Great framing, shot angles, editing, and background audio. Nice Intro!
Awesome additions with the fender flaring and the chassis upgrade. That thing looks like a predator on mars soil. Raising it 4 inches with some 35 inch tires would make it even more a beast. Maybe you can name it Voyager 1, Vger1, after the satellite that is still roaming space since 1979. It was Voyager 1. They even made a sci fi movie about it. Keep up the great videos!
Cybertruck comes from Tesla with 35-inch tires! That's the only way you can buy it, at least for the present.
I knew Dave was talented but I had no idea of the broad spectrum of his knowledge. He makes hard stuff look easy and he is versatile. He has the ability to learn new technology quickly. It's refreshing to see his passion as he develops different projects.
Still not much of an EV person, can't afford much more than my 30 year old truck and little Toyota car, I am a big fan of Elon Musk and what he does, love his American-made products, but I definitely appreciate your common sense and critical thought when it comes to the reality of the way they are built and seeing it from a realistic real world everyday user perspective. Pretty cool to see yall do things outside the everyday
I love the Baja idea. Should present some interesting challenges. Power can be an enemy in long distance racing. Power breaks stuff and to much power really breaks stuff. Wheel travel needs to be optimal. Forged steel spindles for that could get spendy. Weight is an enemy. And I'm not sure how much you could shed on that truck. But I'm all in to see you try it!
EV's are already running similar races. Not sure if they ran in Baja, but EV Audis have been running strong in Dakar for a couple years now. They should look at how Audi are handling the power issue.
Not to mention that high heat is hard on batteries.
"You gotta pick sides" - Its the way of everything now in Ah-Mare-Ka Dave
NASCAR cybertruck would be crazy
I have a customer at my work that is in the engineering side of the suspension of that truck and he and all of them at Tesla have seen these videos. He said that upper control arm was designed the way it was because if it was stiffer and didn’t crush when damaged that it would push into the front or rear tub of the chassis and basically total the truck.
We will see its true Toughness.
Just not on this channel.
Whistling Diesel will really test it.
This, it's cheaper to replace a control arm than it is a whole new truck.

Love the explanation. The weaker upper control arm may also play a role in crash safety.
Exactly, components of the suspension are designed to break apart in a crash in order to not be pushed into the cabin and to add crumple zone. People don't understand physics or other design goals that have tradeoffs.
The upper control arms are NOT part of a crumple zone..

Love how open you are to new technology, Dave. I have ICE engine cars and trucks, and I love them. That doesn't mean I can't be interested in electric vehicles as well. I am on many forums so I can learn from current ev vehicle owners, and all you see is hate coming from Internal Combustion engine owners. They are afraid of losing what they love the most and feel threatened. Why else would they go on an all electric forum. All they do is show the obvious shortcomings of ev without showing the obvious advantages. This new wave of electrification of vehicles is still improving and will surpass ICE eventually.

The key to engineering is to build it just good enough to work... But still be the simplest, lightest, cheapest, and fastest to manufacturer. You can always make things stronger, but at what cost? Cyberboat? If you make the rear wheels shaped like propellors and they both turn outwards, should be enough force to move it forward (if you make it float)
Dumbest idea ever
@@tomkeppler3519why’s that? I mean it would be easier to just put outboard motors in the back but having a truck that uses its wheels as props would be awesoms
This really highlights the limitations of a unibody "truck", and the inconvenience of having to charge an electric vehicle. Obviously, the average cyber truck owner won't be doing these things, and for obvious reasons. Thankfully, there are folks with more money and time to waste than the average guy that can showcase these failures.
Normally I would say you are pretty spot on. But Tesla is struggling with quality control and lots of assembly issues. I think that the truck is amazing and it's great that you got to really see what they are capable of with some modifications to make it your own.
