Alistair was the reason for this entire game!! His banters and comments made going up against a horde of darkspawn with only a wooden bat seem like a breeze!
Years ago when I played this, Alistair captured the hearts of female gamers it seems. Doesn't look like much has changed! Morrigan was my girl, I felt she wasn't all bad and I went through the portal with her in the DLC.
I'm currently playing BG3 and I'm having a lot of fun but this...remembering the days where I'd get up at 7am and play Dragon Age brings back so many waves of nostalgia. Dragon Age is the reason I love fantasy, RPGs and even D&D! Apart from Zeveran; Alistsair will always be my favorite character from DA
Oghren is a dirty old hillbilly. I dunno why his banter never gets old, it should. It is the same joke over and over, sexual references no one gets until he gives up, or people taking his comment as sexual when it is not. It should get old, but it doesn't xD
My best party was in Awakenings... (Anders, Oghren, Nathan, Male Mage Elf Warden) (I'm pretty sure we constituted as a walking joke...a bad one...) I wished Alistair could have joined it in Awakenings though, I would have replaced Nathan and then it would have been a party. LOL I think in origins, the best was when I had My Female Elf, Alistair, Oghren, and Zevren.

I've just recently finished my very first DA:O playthrough, 14 years after the release of the game. I was looking for games similar to BG3; ones that are lightweight for low end PCs (or laptop in my case) since I have a very old laptop and haven't had the budget to switch to a new one just yet. At first I was not too keen on playing DA:O due to the dated graphics, but I forced myself to anyway. That's probably the best decision I've made in the past month haha. The visuals became bearable after a few hours in (and I even fell in love with it), and the story, dialogues (the banters are VERY enjoyable), as well as the gameplay are just immaculate.
get if from GOG, it comes with the 4Gb LAA and CPU usage patches. mod it using @SinitarG 's guide and you'll have it remastered. then pray to the Maker so that BioWaste never touch this masterpiece.

I love my Hero of Fereldan so much. Too bad we won’t see her/him again. And I love her and Alistair to death. But I have my loves for each of the games. Fenris and Anders has my attanetion in DA2. Cullen and Solas are my favorites in Inquisition.
Of course, you have to remember that Alistair and the Warden were forcibly bound to each other through a tragic series of events that lead to a multitude of deaths. The only plausible way the two would've met otherwise is if the Warden was a Mage, and considering the tensions between Mages and Templars, well...let's just say that whole 'ignoring shy guys' thing is very plausible. That's actually quite sad to think about. :(
....Oh, it's not even a question that you need to do more of these. I absolutely loved that bit in Tales of Symphonia, where the characters chatted amongst themselves...sadly the only other game other than DA:O that I know of that had something like it.
@FunnyZebraGuy He can't marry a elf because the rules of kingship demand that he marries a human noble. If your a human mage you can't marry him either. And yes, his mom was an elf :)

I love all of the character conversations you get along the road. I spent at least an hour crossing the Orzammar bridge over and over again just to see what everyone had to say. And I must say, just about all of Alistair's side-conversations made me lol at some point. I've yet to play as a female character yet though, so this was a real treat.

i think the appeal of Alistair is that he is a virgin. Unspoiled, and within that chastity lies attraction to his awkwardness sometimes.
