This is my childhood right here. I'd play "American Idol" with my mom and we'd dress up in costumes and sing our hearts out. We'd have our brother be the judge and to this day he's still the Simon Cowell in our hearts!
Real?!? To whom?!? I’m sorry but they were brutal and in my opinion some that did get chosen.. you ask yourself... how ?!? Who or what are they listening to while singing
I agree with lalalovengun. He was showing how the entertainment industry can be really unforgiving, that was one whole half of the show back in the early days.
Yes I did last year and I really hope it comes back in a few years. All of the winners are good singers but in my opinion I think it has gotten week over the past few years. The last ones have been great before anyone says anything bitchy to me but that is just how I feel... If anyone else knows what I am trying to say.
I was a year old when this aired, but I started watching it almost as early as possible- when I was 4. I'm still watching it today...I don't know why, but I am... It's like a tradition with me and my dad. We've been watching it forever together. I miss it like this...with these judges. I started watching in carrie underwoods season
It’s amazing how the video (youtube) is older than most of the fortnite gamers (12yrs old) and the original video is older than some adults now (19yrs old)
This would later be referenced in _The Fairly OddParents_ just years after this debut with Simon Sparklefield, Fairy World's equivalent to Simon Cowell, appearing in an episode prior I have on DVD titled "Timmy TV" from 2005. *"Nag nag nag, no wonder Wanda's the third least popular character on Timmy TV"*
American Idol has come so far. It feels like just yesterday it was Simon, Paula, and Randy. Now Paula's gone and tonight Simon is leaving. American Idol just isn't gonna be the same. I'm gonna miss Simon. He may act like a jerk most of the time but he knows what he's talking about and just getting his approval shows that you're an awesome singer. What sucks is that I'm never gonna be able to get his approval because he's leaving. ) :
simon is not being mean he's telling the truth she didn't have to come up there to make a fool out of themselves or she was just up there to get on tv.

I hate it when Simon says things like "you're never going to be able to be a good singer", but then again I haven't seen any one of those singers prove him wrong...
Wow I hate I can't be on the show I def have talent but its all good but its not going to stop me I am going to try different other opportunities and still show the world what I can do! We love you American Idol!
Simon Fuller, Simon Jones, Simon Cowell...So many Simons!
Lol

Melinda Schwartz that’s an adorable story. Your mom sounds fun!
Nice, I love this post!
OH LAWD! I'll never, ever forget those painful auditions @ 5:02 and 8:08 (I thought both of them were wounded).
DAMN! That's a big cell phone!!!
Ryan: We don't know who it is yet...
Contestant: Hi, my name is Kelly Clarkson...
Dude, I kinda like what Simon Cowell was saying about this showing how REAL auditions are
Real?!? To whom?!? I’m sorry but they were brutal and in my opinion some that did get chosen.. you ask yourself... how ?!? Who or what are they listening to while singing
And Kelly clarkson it was !!!!
She made American idol History :)
Beginning of one of the best talent show ever.
Simon was soooo brutal but honest
He was more brutal than he needed to be.
That's how it was back in those days. You had to be thick skinned. Now, we're soft
I agree with lalalovengun. He was showing how the entertainment industry can be really unforgiving, that was one whole half of the show back in the early days.

Happy Anniversary American Idol! :D
Back when idol was on fox....ahhh good days. abc/Disney has took the edge of this show. what edge it had.
Wow the show I grew up with!!!
Wow. Simon Cowell was so harsh back then. I kind of think he's softened over the years. Anyone agree or disagree?
Definitely.
totally!!!
Maria W. Girl, he was there to literally destroy some that actually HAVE TALENT!!!
Now I know and understand who was really hurting the most!!! Him!!

Steven took his neighbors shirt from the clothline to attend this audition
I heard Idol is gonna cancel next year. It's bittersweet, but it remains as a legacy

One Simon is the creator, another Simon is the executive producer, another Simon is the top judge. Three Simons.... Half Life 3 confirmed.
this is my favourite season of American Idol, even better than season 4 with the two rockers Constantine and Bo.
Wow the first ever episode of American Idol ever! I live in Australia so never saw Brian Dunkleman until now.
paulas so gorgeous . enough said, i lover her very much hehe
i love how good american idol has gotten. like honestly if any of these people tried out not, they probably wouldn't make it
Hell of a cell phone at 4:02
The nostalgia I can't even.
I kind of laughed when Ryan held up that phone without it being a joke.
Can believe all these people laughing at Ryan's ''cellphone''. You can tell is just a regular cordless phone. This is from 2002 not fuckin '94.
Steven Ware was the first to be crashed on by Simon Cowell live! Without realising, he was opening new ground on TV. LOL!
LOL @ the phone. XD
4:02. i died.
8:00 Cassandra had me dying 😭😭

SIMON bring me to laugh ^^
Ever notice how they've REALLY lowered the standards over the years? They were a lot more picky back then.
8:35 That was so nasty Simon...she was so happy when she was up there and then he shut her down to tears...I feel so bad for her. :(
simon is not being mean he's telling the truth she didn't have to come up there to make a fool out of themselves or she was just up there to get on tv.
Lol, was just thinking that!

Paula Abdul looked like Michael Jackson at 2:43
AlanW. Lmfaoooo

I love Simon Cowell. He truly was the first one who dared to say the truth.
THE PHONE. OH JEEZ THE PHONE.
I hate it when Simon says things like "you're never going to be able to be a good singer", but then again I haven't seen any one of those singers prove him wrong...
Happy 10th anniversary to American Idol.

I miss it when the auditions were only one episode.
Tiffany Montgomery changed her name to Ryan Starr. She was on The Surreal Life in 2004, but hasn't done much since.
Tiffany Montgomery...she was in the surreal life.
