Bob always says you go "deep into the weeds"... Seems to me that he somewhat understates things! :-) I'd love you to share putting her back together again. She looked pretty good to start with. I'm especially looking forward to that test sew at the end. I know you've done the work but I somehow find it rewarding watching them stitch beautifully (and sing) after they've been restored.
Haha, I wasn't sure if this video would be appreciated or not but it really sums up how happy it makes me to work on a sewing machine. :) I will be filming the reassembly and then a test sew, can't wait for that!

I am so happy you enjoyed it! I felt the same way the first time I ever took a machine apart and still get nervous when it's a model I haven't done before.
When I take apart car engines I generally have bits left over when I reassemble. @ 29.46, seeing all those bits I was thinking how many I would deem unnecessary on reassembly.
Oh my, I am not sure you can do without any of them! But I understand what you mean, my husband tells me stories of tearing down motors and having parts left over. Just cross your fingers and turn the ignition! Thanks for watching!

Omg my eyes are glazed over. You lost me after the first dozen parts. To say Im impressed at your skills is an understatement. Kudos. I have recently acquired two Featherweights (1936 & 1940) and I’m sure they both could benefit from this but I could never do all that 😢 The 1936 I just bought today. It sews but the light doesn’t turn on. Tried a brand new bulb, still didn’t come on. It appears to have new cords so I’m hoping it’s just that the wire didn’t get hooked up correctly
It could be a number of issues, I would have to see it to diagnose it. I hope you can get it working!

Hi! At first it was and I didn't disassemble machines as far as I do now. It's all about learning and growing more confident, baby steps!
I LOVE THIS! I have acquired 4 Featherweights in the last 18 months. My most recent was a great find at a local estate online auction…the White one! I won the auction…got it for $376! It’s beautiful…one precious owner. None of mine needed major restoration…just normal tuning up. One of my black ones came with the original Singer Featherweight table…had to pay $550😢. Another one has the Singer Centennial badge!
I am happy you liked it! You have quite a collection now, that's great! I have a hard time finding machines where I live so online auctions are how I shop most of the time. You got a great deal on your white one, most of the time I would have to pay double that. Lucky you!

Love your lights you have on each side with the magnifiers!! What kind are they?
Hi! They are from the company Ottlite. I love them too but I will say that I have had several of these lights now and eventually they do break. I think you can see the blue tape on one of them, I am trying to prolong its life a little. Of course, I use them every day and am constantly bending and moving the magnifying light. So, I can recommend them for light use but not heavy duty use. That’s just my opinion, I hope it helps!

I had the opportunity to buy a 222 at a good price... because it only had its bobbin case and a bobbin ;-)
It looks in good condition.
I will have to rewire the lamp because the wires have melted but it is doable.
Thanks to your videos I was able to dare to disassemble the machine.
It seems rather dry (there is no grease deposit on the gears).
The hook assembly and handweel were very very difficult to get out.
Now my last and final concern about the disassembling is that I can't get out the roller of the feed regulator. It doesn't spin at all.
It probably sounds weird but... Is it possible that on a 222 the roller is originally fixed, on purpose, on its stud without any possibility of spinning?
I see a screw in the center of the roller. I guess that it fixes the stud. Does a 221 have the same screw?
Otherwise Î'´m in Switzerland and I can't find the Kroil here. But if it makes sense, I'll look for an equivalent.
Do you have any advice to help me to get the roller out of the machine?

Hello! I am so glad that the videos have been helpful and that you like them. I hav some friends who live in Switzerland, they love it there. As far as the roller, it should come off and not be fixed. It is probably stuck. Any kind of oil that is a penetrating oil should work, and I would try gripping it with some nylon tip pliers and see of you can get it to turn and break free. If you were able to remove the feed fork from the machine it would probably be easier to work on the roller. I haven’t ever had one that was too stuck to remove. Let me know if you are able to try that and succeed!

Your production is wonderful. After another RUclipsr recommended your channel I really enjoyed your series with the 301.
Hopefully this doesn’t become a featherweight heavy channel. They are great machines, but the obsessive cult following surrounding them is off putting.
I was fortunate enough to inherit one. I always feel bad for those who actually want to use one and pay a fair($200-$400) price for one.
The 221 is FAR from rare, yet they consistently transact at $500+. This is mostly because they are scarfed up by flippers and people hoarding multiple featherweights.
It’s sad and exactly why my son will inherit our featherweight someday.

What gauge wire are you going to use? 16AWG or 18AWG?
I use 18AWG but you can use 16...it's really up to you, both will work

Yes, especially when you have 4 to 5 machines going at once! But it is doable and totally worth it!
