I still have my featherweight bought for me for my fourteenth birthday in 1957. It has inhabited many attics after I bought a swing needle in the 70s. The case is pristine. The best thing about the case is the way it kept the contents beautifully protected. I kept my 222k because my mother struggled to pay for it and the trade in offered was derisory.
Hold onto that 222k, Wendy! That was my 'grail' machine. I got one last year (a 1960 model) and I paid a LOT for it, but I consider it to be worth it. Mine's in astonishingly great condition, and I suspect the value will only continue to go up. It's a beautiful marvel of engineering made to last beyond a lifetime; just part of what I love about Singer's old black machines.
I just recently grabbed a first production run 221 -1 from a pawn shop window, sun burned paint so bad , i saved it to restore being a early 221 school bell ......no case but im ok with that....ill be doing a restoration video in the future , nice to see others saving these awesome machines too .....
My box is identical to this one on the outside. Insides are good. Smell is not bad and no visible mold. I’ll set an open container with baking soda inside for a bit. Should help. Thank you for this!
I did the shoe polish to my featherweight case years ago. I also had to use foot powder on a dry wash cloth set inside to remove the musty odors. A world of difference. Thank you for all your videos.
My stepdad gave me his mothers. The machine was in pristine condition. The box has a little bit of wear and tear. I can't wait to polish up the box and show him what it looks like looking brand new. I'm sure he'll really appreciate that.
Thanks for this video! I live in Canada and Canadian Tire carries this brand of polish, including in a kit, at a very good price! You mentioned something about dental tools, a similar tool(s) is available for crafting, Cricut is one brand that makes them. They call them weeding tools. I used mine and they work great.
I'm looking forward to giving my featherweight case some much needed care, but I cannot seem to find the exact same shoe cream you have on Amazon. Great video - thank you!!
My featherweight case looks worse than this. The corner has been chewed, black covering loose all over. Very much want to pretty mine up. Thankful to have fpund your channel.

Good heavens both my moms and her mother had one of those years ago. Wow thanks for the memories.
Interesting! My first thought would be to use Angelus leather paints, but maybe this is a better idea.

Much better! Thankfully my Featherweight and its case are both in excellent shape.

What kind of wax should be used to polish out the paint on the , sewing machine?
I put dryer sheets in the old treadle cabinet drawers.
Dryer sheets can ruin the paint finish of your Featherweight machine. I would not risk using dryer sheets around a Featherweight machine.
do you think a Spartan 192k will fit in there?
Thank you

I think any cream polish will work

Love it.
Wonderful advice
I replaced my handle with the same style from featherweight store. Did you clean the case before putting the polish on?
I did not clean just used a stiff brush to apply
Is that brush soft or stiff?
I used a stiff brush
New Sub! Nice channel.... will be back often!
The featherweight shop has a better video.
