Wonderful video Jack. My 830 is smiling now….probably feels like a spring chicken. I don’t think it’s been properly oiled in many, many years.

WD -40 is low odor kerosene with a bubbling penetrant. It is an excellent cleaner/solvent - not a lubricant or a preservative. On sewing machines, you can use any mineral oil and never have an issue. baby oil, food grade mineral oil, any mineral oil will work as well as anything else. My sewing machine oil is mineral oil sold as Zoom Spout.

This is so fascinating. How wonderful to be able to bring a beautiful machine back to life for another 50 years. I did get nervous when you are squirting turpentine in there that could drip on the lovely deck below and mar the paint finish. Lacquer thinner for sure. I'm loving this project though. I've seen a special cleaner for the painted/decal area of these machines. Don't know the name of it. Wrap foot pedal in a cloth or bag before storing on the deck area so not to scratch the paint.

I put a drop of oil with a red spot under the plate by mistake I haven’t tried to sew as not sure if I have done any damage Please advise

Thank You Jeff. I bought the tray legs several weeks back. I was afraid of ruining the tray, so I was hesitant to force the legs in place. But once I watch your newest video, I was able maneuver the legs into place without the use of pliers - and they easily fold back under so I can connect the embroidery unit without any issue.

I have question. I just acquired a Bernina Record 930 from a friend who doesn't use it any more. I cannot get the presser foot lever to raise the foot. It goes up to the slot but wont go any further. What can I do to fix it? Ihave taken my sewing machines apart before and put them back in order, so I am handy with mechanical things. PLEASE HELP!

Have you ever had the needle coming out and jamming at an angle when using a walking foot? I have a Bernina 830 electronic record in recently purchased a walking foot for it. It's only worked a handful of times. Now it won't work at all. The needle gets stuck down.. So frustrating

Jeff, I am getting that error intermintently; however, one of my thread guides near where the needle inserts came apart. I have the little metal piece, but I can't figure out how to snap it back on.

I know this is a long shot, but my mom recently had her 1970's Bernina 830 start acting up on her. The needle won't stay centered. She can't use it as the setting won't stay center. It was since she adjusted the pattern wheel. The three technicians that looked at it, with 40 years experience said it was unrepairable. I think this is a lie. Do you have any idea what could be causing the problem?

Thank you Jeff Great fix for all basting and sewing. Wrap the bobbin seven times -just tried it and it is easy and the bobbin stays taut, winds evenly without loose threads in the middle.

Hi Jeff, I have one of these machines and also have a 727. I think it was you who told us what number to put in front of the serial number to find out the year of manufacture. Was it 6? And do you add that to the first number? I forget what you said and I can’t find the video. Cheers
