Thank you, Jeff! A couple of years ago my local Bernina dealer said if your Track ball goes on your 1530, it's all over...Well, not anymore, thanks to you, Jeff!!! And I just finished voting for you and your shop for the Annies Quilt contest...hope you win!!!

Jeff, thanks for this. I'd done this in the past but the one I did wasn't quite so bad with a flat spot, it just didn't really want to move anymore. I ended up just scuffing the wheels in place and restored it. I remember seeing somewhere that someone came up with a potential replacement for those rollers if they get too bad; it was probably on a RUclips rabbit hole. But good deal!

Oh, and the backwards install was all good. I was like -- other way, Jeff! Hah. That's ok, today I was finishing up a long day of an 830 and couldn't figure out why suddenly I wasn't making stitches in embroidery. Called the store owner in the room and she started checking things and was like, "Where's the presser foot?" Ahh yes. Those are important. Details!

Hello Jeff. Thanks for your video confirming how to fix the track/roller ball on a 1530!
I just learned that my sister had her machine services and was told that the parts were not available. As a retired owner of a vending company, I had repaired many arcade-style tack balls in the past. They used hardened steel rollers with polycarbonate balls. After some time the rollers would actually wear down to the extent that the ball would begin to slip.
I had mentioned to my sister that needed to look at it to see if I could repair it. Elsewhere on the internet I had recently read that someone repaired the tracl/roller ball by replacing the roller with silicon earring backers. Have you ever tried that solution? Thanks again!

Hullo , i have a machine 1530 that i was asked to look at because it was said the back light wasnt working ... funny it is working ...
However the images on screen ie stitch patterns ... etc.
The machine lives in a thermal active area i wondering if the Contacts for the screen drivers could be corroided ...
Just as a test i was looking at disasembling and cleaning with contact cleaner etc
Or is display a regular failing point on the 1530's
Great guidence on The roller ball rollers Jeff ... on computer mouses its normal that finger grease interferes with the operation of the rollers for the pots ...
It was a regular weekly task of Cleaning the Mouse's Bottoms of 100 or so computers 😅😅😅😅😅

I voted for you. Thanks for this tip. I have my mom’s 1630 and I’ll check this out. Is that part with the flat spot available for purchase?
