Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
Meet my new project:
This time I am sharing my process for painting Singer Featherweight Sewing machines. It is a little different from the iron bodied machines.
Thanks!
Marie

Thanks Bob 😁

amazing job
interresting and beautiful
Lovely spruced up girl! Thanks for sharing your project.
Such a pretty color! Well done Marie!😍
Stella is Beyond Beautiful ❤
she's is pretty in pink. You do such lovely work.
She looks so much happier and vibrant. Beautiful work. Just making it perfect.
Excellent Marie
Beautiful! She looks like a Mary Kay Feathweight!🥰🥰
Gorgeous ❤
Amazing. ❤
Well that was a treat to watch! You do very detailed work, well done. So that is how they create those pretty colors. Quite a setup you have. An enviable Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor and space to work. I wish I had that studio.
The pearl pink is lovely. I would have used a darker decal color though, its very subtle. I wonder if you make your own decals? Gold decals are so lovely. Very nice video and superb machine! Thank you.
Thank you! For these machines I buy the decals from the featherweight store. And yes, they have several color options to choose from. Gold and Silver and white and black I think.
I've always been curious about this process. Thanks for the video.
A trick so you don't have to mask off your pin for your Thread, put a vacuum hose on it use for cars, just a small section. It's quick easy d and that way. You don't have to worry about it. I did it all the time for painting?

Great tip!
Gorgeous. Still trying to find one to send to you😊😊
Wow so beautiful good job I have two that need painting
Great work as always Marie. I have a parted out one coming to me and I will be trying some techniques on it as well. I love the morph paint. This one is a dainty little one, isn't she??? Enjoy your channel very much. Please keep them coming.
Looks wonderful, that is the perfect colour I would like mine done!!
Great video! Do you have a video on removing the badge?
So, random dust collection hoses all over the floor. I told my wife it was normal. Seriously though great video I'm working on two featherweights at the moment and was looking for an ok to blast them (with the correct media of course.) Thanks
Yeah, well. There they are 😄 I don't actually use the blaster anymore on them. I use my stripper tank. The blaster works with glass media. It's just a pain, and then afterward, a lot of washing in kerosene to get the residual grit out.
Beautiful job. You have brought new life to this old girl. Did you use a spray paint in a can? Or do you have a professional sprayer?
I use cans for the primer and color, but I use an HVLP gun for the clear coat. 😊
Hi Marie. Can I send you some pics of a machine. Needs some TLC. Paint, decals, clear coat.
Sure, go to my website and contact me. I'll email you back.
I have always wanted a featherweight...love the pink...how much does it cost?
Gorgeous! So it didn’t have a chrome edged wheel - is that chrome paint?
Nope, I just polished the steel edge until it shines like chrome using various grades of sanding paper.
@@prometheansewingmachines wowwww 🤯 that’s cool
Did you sand between the color and the clear coat?
No, I have had trouble with the pearl layer when I do that.
Love love love your channel!! I have learned a lot! I have a question for you...I have recently purchased a singer 301, with aluminum body, and want to strip it. The finish on it is horrible, and between your channel and Jen's I am hoping to give this big sister another chance at life. What do you recommend to strip the paint...I cannot afford a set up like yours (yet) and would love to give her a beautiful color (currently badly discolored all over tan). I am not sure what is safe to use to strip it and yet not damage the metal, Any recommendations? Keep up the fabulous work!!
I personally don't use chemical strippers anymore but I have seen others have with success. Maybe give them a try. Good luck
I want it please😢
What do you use as a clear coat I’m trying to redo mine on a 1953 black featherweight

What type of clear coat do you use?
I use finish one, by Sherwin Williams also diamond coat
It is lovely❤ I really would like to get the exact color and brand please! ? Pink Pearl? What paint brand?
I think this was a couple coats of sweet pea Rust oleum and then another coat of pearl mist Rust oleum and then clear coat.
Can you do a video on you e-tank setup?
I did one when I first set it up, here's the link, ruclips.net/video/S3kSCjQsm1c/видео.htmlsi=CSXtjYCifY2A-1Yi
Thank you! I must have missed that one. @@prometheansewingmachines
This paint wear quicly?
No the paint is very long lasting. 😊😁
Horrible. Such a shame to "restore" such a beautiful original beautiful machine. Sorry. If the machine is in very poor condition, then I have no problem with an "overhaul".
I think you might not want to watch any more videos on my channel then 🤣
