Ep. 4 - Building Mini Hoop Houses!!

In this video, I give a weekly update on the 2024 GIANT pumpkin season. I get the amendments added into the existing patch and build the mini hoop houses to warm up the soil for the plants. I show the troubles I am having with my new patch as well.

I got sick of waiting so have been working to dry out the new patch over the past couple of days. My next post on Instagram will show what I have been doing. I will most likely have my plants in that patch within the next couple of days.

You mentioned your amending 800 sqft, is that what your planning on growing each of your plants in?

No, each plant will have about 1,000 square feet. Last year I amended 650 square feet per plant even though they had 1,000 square feet of space. I only amended that much to save money on amendments. Also, prior to last year, my plants never got bigger than about 550 square feet. They shut down once the pumpkin started putting on weight. Last year was my first time ever amending my soil. My plants took up the whole 1,000 square feet and my personal best went up about 540 lbs. I figure if I do 800 square feet this year, it should help even more.
