Thanks for sharing the video Max. Wow looks like you're working on a watch pulling it apart. I wish I had that level of skill. I'm now looking at getting someone like you locally to do the job. It looks like its a very common fault with these mechanisms.

    Hi!
Maybe do you know if a Sony HRV-Z1e has a kind of fuse inside?
Once I put a battery turned on and off and died, even pushing reset button or, of course, trying again with another battery or charger.
Seems unbelievable that this camera hadn't any protection...
    Thanx!

Thank you Max... Out of 3 z1u bodies I have only one deck was working until yesterday... Damn it :). The error is 31:30... After watching your excellent vid and armed with service manual I believe I have a good chance at using all 3 deck parts to get one working... What do you think? Thank you very much... All the best for 2023.

Hello Max, I just have Sony HVR Z1E almost like as new condition, not a scratch on it. Charged fully all the batteries, once I insert the mini dv tape ( old one from 2010 ) with old footage on I receive the following error warning message: eject sign and "Reinsert the cassette". I tried 3 old mini di tapes ( recorded old ones on the same camera ) same thing happens. Also, when I take out the tape the camera chews it up a little and take the tape from the cassette lid. I haven't tried any new or unrecorded tapes yet. Haven't cleaned the heads. Any recommendations what to do and what does these signs might suggest to you? The troubleshooting in the manual says "The cassette might be damaged or etc" Which isn't super helpful especially that "etc". :) Any recommendations? Does it sound like condensation or problem with some motors? I haven't yet tried cleaning cassette - not sure if it will improve anything? Hope you can recommend or advice on the probably cause and what to do / try next. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you so much.

I’d take the enclosure off and have a look what’s happening during loading process, it’s the easiest way to identify the problem, it could be condensation, in this case moisture makes tape stick to the head carrier drum and chew the tape, it could be mechanism lacking lubrication. Try taking cover of the deck, this way you’ll be able to see what’s happening during the load/unload process

@@MaxELECTRONICS thank you so much. I’ve noticed a small black rubber had fallen from the video cassette compartment as well as the round toothed wheel. I took the camera to a video camera repair shop in London. They just sent me a quote of £576 which is astronomical. I got this camera for £180 and it is like new condition. My budget for repair is £100-200. I wonder where I can find private video camera repair man in London, UK. Are there any forums or websites where I can find one? Thanks a lot in advance.

That’s way to expensive, have a look in a service manual from link below, I think on page 156 - 158, there’s exploded view of the mechanism, maybe you’ll identify the part and see where it suppose to go, also you’ll be able to see how to pull the camera apart correctly. Hopefully that helps. (PS this is interactive manual so you can press on buttons on it and it will take you to the spot, or change language from Japanese to English)

hello, for the ccd trv37 and ccd trv118 models with the same failure, is the solution the same?

I’m pretty sure they all have the same deck. So it would be the same

I have a similar problem, my camera won't accept the cassette. The deck lowers a tiny bit, but I cannot close the door and after a few seconds it jumps back and opens the deck with cassette. Can I use alcohol on this spot (injection needle), without disassembling the camcorder?

You could try, just don’t get it on the head or pinch roller,
