Sony HVR-Z5 Tape Warning, Tape is Locked
This deck in the hvr-z5 suffers with faults due to the ribbon cable on the deck, this cable is not available as a spare part
you will have to order the complete deck p/n A1437006A

I found a work around for the message that says "Tape is locked - check tab" on my HDR-FX1000. I power on camera and open tape side door. Leaving the door open I then Power Off the camera and unhook the battery or disconnect the power supply. Then i load a tape and then i shut the door and hook power back up and let the camera reload the tape. When i do it this way I do not get the message. Hope this helps someone.

Did you mean re-attach the power source.... i think it's a problem with the cassette mechanism
