This video is a tutorial on the removal of the tape deck assy. from the unit
part no. for tape deck A1437006A, while this mech. can be repaired, the labour charges would be high, its just easier to change the tape deck assembly
but if you have not got the lanc remote tool and cpc-13 jig, it would be better to repair this tape deck.

Was able to fix a jammed eject mech by following this guide. Thanks
Nice little cameras to work on but don’t see them much anymore. Had to replace the MD-20 the mech deck inside one recently which had become jammed. Much nicer than the tapeless models which are a nightmare to take apart at times. The EX1 and EX3 can be annoying but the more modern stuff is okay. Great video ! Sony still sell the parts for these from what I am aware.

I'm about to buy a similar camcorder with a small fault (I suppose). The zoom lever on the handle isn't functional; the main lever on the side of the camera is working. what could be the issue? is it going to be an easy fix?

My HVR-Z5U screen went to blue and the audio quit during "Playback" of a recording. Menu info still appears and everything is normal during "Record". No "Playback" video or audio is available from the external outputs either. It still makes perfect recordings that play back fine on one of my other cameras ... just no playback operation. The counter on the screen shows the tape is advancing normally. Any speculation where my problem is?
Are there any differences in MDX-N110 and MDX-N220 mechanisms? Are they directly interchangeable?
How do you change the clock battery please
Hi there. I have one of these cameras. The iris ring is no longer working (Eroor Code: E:61:30), so I can't adjust the f.stops. When I turn the ring the f.stop numbers change, but nothing happens. Is there to bypass this? To open/close the iris without the iris ring, or having to use gain? (And without replacing the whole lens unit.)
I have that cam and it refuse playing back in hd, only working in ordinary dv mode, whats wrong?

I have a Sony v1, the problem i just got is that after putting in a tape and closing it, it then doesn't retract back into the camera. Is that a big job to fix? Am really bummed out on this happening. Thanks!
Fort reliability, you would have to change the deck assembly part # A1171909B
Then setup the deck assembly using special tools, not a job for diy
a few thing that cause this is the ribbon cable that is between the main deck and sub deck, this breaks over time and also the mode switch

Which part?
If its the tape deck, I normally get it from Sony,
But be warned, This deck has to be setup, with special tools
you would need the remote lanc tool and cpc jig and an oscilloscope to set the tracking,
switching would also need to be set
you would also need the procedures in the service manual
the part number for the deck is A1437006A
hi, every time I turn my z5 I find the schedule and time setting. is evidently the coin battery. you can tell me where it is located? do not understand why they have become so hidden
The lithium battery part no. 175613412 is located near the internal microphone
you will have to remove the buttons and the board to get access to the battery
The battery holder , Sony say it has to be replaced at the same time, part no. 175661551. This in unfortunately not a customer replacement item, unless you have some experience in working on cameras
+Electronic Workshop I assume this is in the front end of the handle assembly. Can you be any more specific? Inside near the XLR jacks or front near the mic or on the left side where the viewfinder is attached? Any idea why the battery holder must be replaced when replacing the battery?
My Z5 viewfinder went dead and I suspect it's the ribbon cable. Is it easy to replace this myself? I replaced a similar viewfinder cable on two VX-1000's so I do have some experience with taking camcorders apart. Is there a way to replace a Z5 viewfinder cable without taking the entire camera apart?
Its fairly easy to replace the cable
remove the handle cover and the rear cover underneath the viewfinder to get access to the screws,
Just be careful of static electricity, they viewfinder can be damaged easily
I got the rear cover off underneath the viewfinder. But I'm having trouble with the handle cover. I removed the top two visible screws and the two screws at the front of the handle in the LCD cradle. I can lift up the top part of the cover but something is still holding the cover down in the rear near the viewfinder. I don't want to force if off and break something. Do I need to unhinge the viewfinder or remove the light shoe?

OK, I got the handle cover off but cannot see where the ribbon cable connects to the viewfinder. In the rear under the viewfinder I see some black screws holding a silver bracket in place. I assume I need to loosen that silver bracket, correct? So I should be able to access both connecting ends of the ribbon cable by only removing the handle cover and rear cover?
the 4 screws have to be removed, then the evf has to be dismantled.
but make sure you have taken all esd precautions, you can damage the evf with static electricity
Hi Could you make a tutorial on how to adjust the lens or try to repair the error C:32:60 in this model using RADAR W, the Light box and chart. Also the RM-95 is needed? and what adapter is needed to connect the camera to the computer?
