- (2003) Kobe scored 42pts vs Denver - his 2nd straight with 40 or more - and made one of his most famous play: behind the back then 360°dunk!
Date: February 11th, 2003
Results: L.A won 121 - 93
Stats: 42pts on 12/20 shooting & 17/21 from the free throw line, 5asts & 4stls
Peach: In L.A first game after the all star break, Kobe still had the hot hand, scoring 42pts in only three quarters, including one of his greatest dunks ever: the famous behind the back then 360° dunk!
Quote: "Kobe did what Kobe's been doing, he's feeling it. If I knew how to stop him, he wouldn't have had 40 tonight. He's a great player and he's in a great rythm right know."
Chris Withney, Denver Nuggets
Anecdote: Kobe gorgious slam has been choosen as one of the most athletic dunks ever in "TNT NBA Posterized", a one hour that reviewed the best dunks in NBA history.

The level of skill and body control on that dunk is effing insane.
Kobe is better than lebron
WAS better.
Alex Snowberg He means as a whole. Kobe as a player, like in his prime, at his best, is better than Lebron in his prime. People forget what Kobe could do, he isn't excessively big and strong, but he could dominate ANYONE. from 2002-2011, there was no question he was the best player in the world.
I see no lies
Sky is blue
I sometimes hate how Stu is never impressed when Kobe does an amazing play, he just shrugs it off with that "It's just Kobe" line. Come on man get pumped! His partner here, forgot his name, always made Laker games ALIVE with his enthusiasm.
AJVersatility19 Paul Sunderland?
Stu is just not that type guy to be overly impressed by everything. But he did make it a point to say if anybody doubted who the best player in the game was, come see me. Stu absolutely recognized and acknowledged Kobe's greatness on the court.
Stu has shown his being impressed many many times.
@@Riles3152that was my favorite game because kobe showed he was the best perimeter player on both ends
There's no doubt who the best player on the Lakers was in 2003 yet Kobe haters still clame it was Shaq to this day.
4:06 "oh... what did I just see, " probably the best comment ever...
Ouch man! That behind the back 360º dunk was NASTY!
"Kobe Bryant in the open court is an absolute nightmare" There are posters of Kobe going up and under 5 Spurs and scoring. fast forward 15 years later....he was still a nightmare on any part of the court, where opposing teams best tactic is requiring double/triple team him indefinitely inside 40ft from the basket. Thank you and R.I.P. 8/24 Kobe The BlackMamba/TheMaskMamba/TheCaramelCat/The Bean "GOAT" Bryant.
this was the season that just punctuated kobe as the best in my book.
The coolest player ever
Kobe was just unbelievable at those times !!! He was just so damn GOOD !!!
Probably best reaction by commentator: 4:06
This video shows perfectly why Kobe isn't only about offense. His defense is great!
Chick Hearn, Lakers commentator, legend
Hes doing this in a non-cupcake NBA. Amazing
Man had 42 after three quarters and was done for the night lol.
OMG i loooooooove kobe .......
this was one of his best game he's ever had
Shaq must be so pissed that Kobe stealing the spotlight from him haha
Anyway, crazy game....unreal
i luv ur vidz!!!
Robert Horry has more rings than Jordan as well. But he isn't in the discussion of GOAT because he didn't win any MVP award whatsoever. He didn't lead his team to any of those titles. Rings are a team factor, not an individual factor.
sick upload
Oh those were the days... good thing those days are still going on five years later!
Lebron can't do that
lol
Kobe wins games in 3 quarters haha !
jordan is still the best ever.. we still need to wait for 2014... by that time kobe will have a total of 8 rings! goat!
Basket, Kobe
anyone realize that after both shot(shoot by kobe in the last few seconds of 1st and 2nd quarter), the time left was 3.2 secs
@XManimal yea man ... much respect to shaq but kobe is just the amazing that happens in the nba
sssslllllaaaammmmm dunk!!
This video is a great example of exactly how NOT to do an aspect ratio.
He's got 2-3 years left at best. I'm doing the same comparisons that a lot of people on here do.
Knock Knock,who's there?Kobe Bean Bryant ⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️⛹🏾♀️
Kobe hasn't finsihed his career yet ffs. How can you compare career achievements when he's still got at least 5 years left
@JIX9ISLER1986 what u mean? I don't think many ppl would remember that Kobe wore Jordans..and I'm one of the biggest Kobe fans there is, lol
wilt died in 1999,this was 2003
@beastmode40205 where have u been
OK. Does ANYBODY Who This Chris Whitney Guy is??
hahahaha
@PLOTLAKER5 THAT CANT BE THE CASE BECAUSE HE TOP 3 ALL TIME PLAYOFF SCORING AND HE TOP 6 ALL TIME NBA SCORING
Kobe wearing the retro 8's? I don't remember that...
Yep... he rocked the 8’s, 7’s, low top 6’s, 3’s, 11’s, 12’s, & 17’s. He even wore a couple different pairs of A.I.’s sneakers.
It's when he got out of Adidas and was looking to sign a shoe contract with someone else.
40,000 points? LOL he only missed two years. Assuming he didn't come back for the Wizards he probably would've hit 32,000 or so. And he's been picked to the All-D 1st team 3 more times than Kobe.
Who was on this Denver team? Juwan Howard and? lol.

Kobe is way better than lebron
Kobe doesn't play the D that MJ did. MJ has 5-6 more trips to the All-NBA Defensive first team and 1 defensive MVP (something Kobe doesn't have). MJ is regarded as being one of the best perimeter defenders of all time (Pippen as well).
Kobe will pass Jordan in a few things, but that's because he'll have been in the league a lot longer than MJ. Keep in mind that MJ would be the all time points leader (about 40,000 career points) and led the Bulls to an 8-peat had he not retired the first time.
Kobe shot 34% from beyond the arc. Jordan, only 32.8 in the regular season, but Jordan shot better beyond the arc in the playoffs 33.2% to Kobe's 30.2%. Watch his finals series against Portland. He made 6 straight 3's.
Every single other stat favors Jordan over Kobe. Where is Kobe's clutchness in the NBA Finals? He never scored 40 points in an NBA Finals game, Jordan averaged 41 PPG in the 93' Finals.
You know I posted this in 2008, right?
@@clipcoug1139 I really wish i saw what conversation went down here
@@anonymoususer2080: Somebody trying to say Kobe's better than Jordan because Jordan was a lousy 3-point shooter or something.
@@clipcoug1139 sounds like fun
Im better than the whole nba
Ridiculous.
