The Harsh Reality About "Good Intentions"

  • Mormons have good intentions - they WANT to serve and honor their Heavenly Father, and yet Christians maintain that Latter-day Saints (Mormons) do not have peace with God. Why do Christians say this when Latter-day Saints so often have good motives?
Ultimately, it's because God won't judge our good intentions; He'll judges our actions. In this video, we examine the story of Uzzah and the Ark of the Covenant to demonstrate that God judges actions-not intentions. Just because Mormons have good intentions doesn't mean that God will judge them favorable. Both Mormons and Christians need to know what God has revealed in His Word.

As always, very honest and truthful. As a former Mormon for over 20 years, I have to say that when I look back at all the things I was taught in Mormonism, I find myself wondering how I even got involved in that deceptive doctrine? The answer was clear, I had never truly picked up the Bible to read and study it, let alone pray for spiritual discernment from the Holy Spirit.
It wasn't until many years later as I got much older that I actually got a Bible (KJV) and started to read, study, pray and found a good church that taught only from the Bible, that didn't mix words, didn't bend or change the doctrine because of public appeal... no, a true faithful pastor to the word of God and it helped me grow in ways I never realized.
I can see the difference between true Christianity, and Mormonism, and being that I have grown kids that are still in Mormonism, it hurts, because while I have tried to share some knowledge with them, in reality, they have to be willing to seek all truths, no matter where it may lead them.
I have learned over time, that many members of the LDS church today would rather stick their heads in the sand and deny the truths, facts, evidences, proof of how Mormonism is false, along with their founder who had 30-40+ wives, many of them children (14 - 17) while joseph was in his mid 30's.
There has been so much light shown down into Mormonism, yet many hide their faces, like Joseph did with his face buried in a hat, receiving "revelation" and "translating" the Book of Mormon which spent much of it's time hidden in the woods for various reasons.
So many spiritually lost, deceived souls in Mormonism, and I truly fear for their eternal salvation, especially my children and their families, and all the friends I grew up with and overall, all of them. All we can do is pray for them, groan for their release from spiritual blindness.
I truly do not want to see any of them lost to Satan, but his masterpiece deception that was provided to Joseph Smith who was already well known as a treasure seeker, and seer stones were something many people were using in that time period, only points to occult practices and paganism, a perfect vessel for Satan to masquerade as an Angel of Light, and deceive Joseph, which is what I think happened.

Facts, evidence, proof of how the paradigm espoused by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is false? The paradigm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint is to believe all things. If something is true, then it is part of the paradigm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Therefore, logically speaking, there can be nothing to overturn that paradigm. If something is truly true, then it is part of the paradigm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesus is the truth, and as such, all truth belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

@@DaremoDaremo Which Jesus are you talking about? Yes, it makes a difference, for the LDS church believes in and teaches that Jesus they worship comes from a different origin than what the Bible tells us.
Mormonism teaches that Jesus is a literal created being, made by Heavenly Father and an actual Spirit Mother, which is no where in the Bible, for in the Bible, we know that Jesus is God in the flesh, who has always been since the beginning of time itself, for he has always been with the Father.
Mormonism teaches that God (Elohim) was once a man, like us, who lived on an earth, like ours, who was tested and had to prove their worthiness to gain "exaltation" and that every LDS member has the same potential, to become a God one day and populate our own world.
All of this can be seen clearly defined on the official LDS church website, under "Exaltation" as it clearly states all of these things, including "becoming a God"
All of these beliefs are counter to the Bible and in essence, creates a different God, a different Jesus, and a different doctrine.

@@DaremoDaremo You keep using Christian terminology, that you believe Jesus is the Christ, but again, which Jesus? Which Christ? There is a major difference between believing in:
God the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit are 3 distinct identities, as ONE God (Triune God, or known as the Trinity)
or do you believe in the deeper theological teachings of Mormonism, which clearly states that Jesus was begotten sexually through Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother?
These same deeper theological believes that Mormonism may not expound on as heavily as they once did, declares that God the Father had sex with the Virgin Mary, to produce Jesus Christ.
Mormonism does not believe that the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary, which means, immaculate conception, no physical sex.
If you go back and read the LDS church doctrines, the journal of discourses, you will find many many many deep truths that they may no longer openly admit or declare, but none the less, they are still the core belief in Mormonism, just like their view that worthy members can "earn" exaltation (to become a literal God) as spelled out on their official church website.
These are not minor issues, for they will determine if we spend eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ or if we spend eternity away from him... remember, Christ said that "on that day, MANY will come to me and say 'Lord! Lord!' and I will turn to them and say to them, "depart from me, I never knew you".
This is because we have been given His truth, through the Bible. When we try to add to salvation in any way, we forfeit our eternal salvation, because we are adding more requirements (Legalism) to salvation.
Paul makes a very clear statement regarding this when the church tried to hold onto circumcision as a requirement, and this one small issue, Paul declared, would send you to hell, because they were adding to the finished works of Christ, that being, they wanted to make circumcision a "saving ordinance".

Does belief replace repentance? Yes if you believe and sin as we all do salvation is extended but you must repent...Even David understood that shedding of innocent blood had to be repented for and that that would be almost impossible to do as he could not restore life and in Psalms he talks about suffering for that sin in hell but rejoices in the fact he would be redeemed by the Lord and brought to see his face...also I love how nobody ever answers the devil and his angels believe ...are they then to be saved?...no...because it is so much more than simply believing... There have been several comments alleging that this video is teaching a works-based salvation. It’s worth noting that none of this is meant to suggest that our own obedience merits salvation. Rather, the primary intent here is to show that our intentions, however well-intended they may be, do not justify actions or beliefs that run contrary to God’s commands.
    ----
I think part of the reason Mormons often think God will so favorably judge intentions is because they assume that all of us are the literal children of Heavenly Father...but the Bible doesn't actually teach that, either! It is vitally important to be called, to answer that call, and then to follow the instructions...all of which cannot be done without the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

Is it not kind of a contradiction to say that "God won't judge our good intentions; He'll judges our actions", but then have Paul teach that no matter how many good actions we perform, they are worth nothing without charity?
To me the Bible clearly shows many examples on how intentions do matter, but yes, intentions can not replace actions, they just give quality to the actions we perform.
With the Good Samatitian we see a person that did have good intentions, because he sincerely showed mercy and charity, and even though he erred in doctrine, and even though he did not even have faith in Christ, Jesus considered him being "good"...
I think the claim that intentions don't matter at all in Gods judgement is completely false, and the example of Uzzah touching the ark is like having a child touch fire and expect God to intervene because it didnt know better.. but when we touch fire, in most cases, our intentions don't matter, and yet, how God will judge one day we stand before him, is another topic..

I think the story of Uzzah is a bad example for the point you are trying to make.

Excuse me, but that Arc story gives God a trash image. Or at least, the petty image derived from that take on it, does.
Jesus directly demonstrated that no law is more important than the dignity and wellbeing of other people. Not even if it's a law supposedly given by him to his Coventant people -- and I would posit: even if it's written in his holy book!
He explained, nay personified, that all commandments hinge on love: Better to break the Sabbath than to withold helping someone in need. If you get that backwards, then you don't "know him".
I posit that THAT is how you know whether something is of Christ, rather than whether or not it's written in cold ink on lifeless pages (i.e. versus in a living soul with a beating heart).
And look, if "it's different" for the Arc, well then we agree that that is an apples to oranges comparison, and the context does not transfer. Does Jesus want every supposed commandment, ideal, or religious expectation, to be a sacred cow more important than the people around you? I think, as he clearly *personally* demonstrated, that No, not by any means.
Back to apples and oranges: There's a clear difference between hollow intention, and demonstrated real intention. Like, "I meant not kill the guy (until I purposely DID kill the guy)".
Anyway, my point is that if God was one of us (yeah yeah, like the cheesy song), would you recognize him if you met him? And would it be by what's on paper and "in the law", or by what's in his heart and what's in yours?
If I've offended anyone, that was not my intent 😉. I believe my demonstrated intent is to promote an honorable image of God ✌️
(For reference, I'm an exmo who is disillusioned in the literal belief in God; but if you define God as love and goodness, then yeah I'm all for that. Not that it should have any bearing on the validity or value of my words, in either direction. My new goal is to put everyone on the same side of the fence as human beings, regardless of differences. That's what Jesus demonstrated, and that kind of Jesus is worth elevating)
