      Goutam Gambhir was a outstanding captain. Mr. Gambhir deserves captaincy for national cricket team in test match format for sure. Test format is the most important format of this sport, dhoni hold on test captaincy wrongly, m dhoni was a failure in test cricket as captain. Thats called maturity who thinks of the team .. Earlier it was a kind of ego floating in the team which actually did not develop a strong team ...every individual focus was to how i can stick myself to team India ... things have changed and i hope the future ll be the same ...

    Gavaskar was extremely favoured by the board repeatedly making him captain for series in India and then letting him give it up when a difficult series overseas was to be played. In early 80s, he led India to defeats in England and Pakistan. One reason for Indian poor performance was Gavaskar repeatedly acting more as Bombay captain than Indian captain.
    Kapil was probably the most shabbily treated Captain. He was sacked after 87 WC semi final defeat when it was his innings that brought back the team into the game. When Srikkanth took over from Vengsarkar , following a number of defeats attributable to bad captaincy, the latter sulked and refused to play under Srikkanth. Srikkanth took what was India's weakest team ever to tour Pakistan which had its best ever team. Despite number of horrendous umpiring decisions, that team came back undefeated - which was India's best ever performance in Pakistan till then. Srikkanth was promptly sacked.
    Think we cannot compare those days with the current situation

    • @AnkitSingh-xl6pt
      @AnkitSingh-xl6pt 2 года назад +3

      Kapil, thanks to Gavaskar, missed out a guaranteed series win in Australia during the 1985 tour.
      India could've also squared the 1982-83 series in West Indies under Kapil as the first test at Kingston was lost by just 4 wickets when WI were set less than 200 to chase in the 4th innings, with Kapil taking 8 wickets in the contest whilst Gavaskar failed for almost the entire tour, example being the following Port-of-Spain test where Kapil had to score a century to save India from follow-on and draw the test when India could've actually setup a lead and make WI bat again if not for the failure of most of the batsmen, minus Mohinder Amarnath. It happened again during the return tour post the '83 WC when only Kapil played consistent attacking cricket throughout the series but Gavaskar failed on crucial occasions, the worst being his performance at Ahmedabad where the 4th innings target was less around 250 but he failed to provide a start and the rest crumbled automatically. Even Clive Lloyd said it could've been a hard fought 2-1 win for the Windies but India couldn't handle the pressure.
      Only during the 1985 World Championship of Cricket did Gavaskar show some instincts as a leader, but here too he didn't do much with the bat.

    After kohli 's announcement I thought it was good thing as he was already 33, he should think about future cap for t20i, he simply thought about nation, when dhoni was captain his vice-cap which is kohli, he was just in his early 20s, that's why he continued till 2016. In 2014 he gave up test capcy to kohli, which means dhoni gave up one format. But for kohli all of the main players are already in late 20s or early 30s, so it's right time for kohli to give captaincy to other guy atleast in any of one format it's pretty normal. But as you said this social media really exaggerated it, and created a rift between Rohit - kohli again. Hope indian cricket team stays strong.

  • @sushreyomisra3261
    @sushreyomisra3261 2 года назад +4

    Regarding the captaincy transitions involving Azhar, I have a few comments. Firstly, Azhar became permanent captain in 1990, not 1992. If we had other captains in that period between 1990-1992, it was probably because Azhar was out injured or something. Secondly, Azhar’s second ouster from captaincy didn’t end with the match fixing scandal. It actually ended much before, towards the end of 1999. Ajay Jadeja and Ganguly were both tried as white ball captains in some series (e.g. against West Indies in Toronto, tri series in Singapore etc.) before the captaincy was handed back to Sachin ahead of the 1999-2000 Australia tour. This was followed by a defeat to SA at home, following which Sachin relinquished captaincy, and Ganguly was put into the hot seat. Under Ganguly, the team played the ODI series in SA, some series in Sharjah (I could be wrong on this) and as Asia Cup in Dhaka. It was in Dhaka that both Azhar and Jadeja played for India for the last time. The match fixing controversy had started during the 2000 Ind-SA ODI series and Azhar and Jadeja’s names were involved at the time the Asia Cup was going on. That was when the match fixing saga really started. Technically, India had 2 captains between Azhar and the match fixing saga.

    Well curated video.
    Your narration is already top shelf stuff... Kudos to you. The script is impeccably written with all necessary elements and there was nothing more one could ask for.
    With regards to narration, you are already doing 95% things right. What you could consider focussing on is that at some points you stress on some verbs/adjectives that we would have stressed on had we been speaking Hindi, not English.
    Examples:
    1) at 0:46, you emphasized on "sport" instead of "just".... (but emphasis on "religion is beautiful).
    In Hindi we would have emphasized on "khel" in the below sentence:
    cricket sirf ek KHEL nahi, balki DHARMA ban gya.
    2) at 0:58, the emphasis on the word "cricket" wasn't necessary, sounds misplaced, and breaks the sublime flow you magically create.
    3) at 0:18, the dieing tone on "Indian Captaincy" makes it sounds like the end of the sentence and the small pause that follows seems to confirm the end of sentence, but when you continue with "seems to have hit...", the sentence fails to deliver the punch as effectively as it could have.
    I repeat, your narration stands out, is a treat to hear, and you have all it takes to become the best.
    Cheers!

    Hi admin , I have been watching ur videos repeatedly not only because of m a cricket fan I am like addicted to ur story telling .. here are some of my long time searched stories on ' story behind declination of sl cricket pak cricket South Africa cricket ' gone are those days when I watched our team get thrashed all over park by sa batsmen .. rarely I have seen dominating. I don't see even a contest from these 3 teams now a days. I used to bite my nails and watch even matches against Zimbabwe where flower brothers used to be nightmare for our toothless attack. Pl do a video on where and why the dynamic shift . At presnt it is only contest between eng NZ and india. Bangladesh and aus almost at same stage.

    I hate the way BCCI played pingping with players while choosing the captain of the team. Victories and losses are part and parcel of a game, and every time a captain fails to lead their team toawrds victory, the captaincy would be snatched from them, and then there would be chaos in the team, the players would need time to get accustomed to new captains method and even the person becoming the captain would be under constant pressure, resulting in him being ruthless and tough task master or even tyrant in order to extract excellent performance from his team mates as he would be under constant threat of loosing not only the captaincy but also his spot in playing XI. As a result, he would be hated by his teammates, or they would have a strained relationship. This kind of method is not healthy for the mental condition of players.

      Kohli knows the writing is on the wall, he fails to win another icc trophy his days as white ball captain are done.
      Dhoni knew his days as test captain were done after the 1st test vs aus where we showed more fight under kohli in 1 test than we did under dhoni in his last 8 tests there.

    Immense thanks to Kohli we have finally winning Tests outside India ,not loosing tests series after tests series.
    Now only an ICC trophy 🏆 needed.
    Kohli sir actually not done so much wrong in ICC trophies,he led 3 ICC trophies where India finished in 2 finals and 1 sf.
    Dhoni did great winning by winning 3 icc trophies but he lost 8 icc trophies leaving those away series specifically tests series.
    Hope Kohli gets a good run like dhoni atleast he deserves to lead 5 ICC Trophies and let’s see where he finishes.
    If Kohli sir manages to win this t20 WC which will be not easy at all then without a doubt he will be the best Indian captain and probably one of the greatest captain along with Ricky Ponting or Steve Waugh.

People from Bombay like gavaskar ,manjredkar , ravi shashtri have had a hand in this. If u dont believe just wait and watch .Rohit will obviously be made limited overs captain. Rahane will be made test captain . And the bombay lobby will ensure that Bombay players like suryakumar yadav ,Prithvi shaw or Shreyas iyer will be made future captains sidelining players from rest of the country like kl Rahul and Rishabh pant.

    Actually as per tradition, the best performing player at that instant of time automatically becomes the choice of captaincy in India, minus the premature promotion of Pataudi or accidental elevation of Venkatraghvan or others like GS Ramchand or circumstantial appointments like Kris Srikanth.
    Gavaskar for all his accomplishments, be it the victory at the World Championship of Cricket in Australia, the test series win against a depleted West Indies in '78-79 or England in '81-82, was too conservative in tactics and therefore couldn't enforce results. Kapil although led by example even if it meant battling against the West Indies, became the victim of Board politics and his miscalculation at the SF against England in '87. Azhar was lucky to be appointed at a time when cricket in India was gaining commercial momentum and succeeded overwhelmingly at home but failed miserably overseas. Sachin was a bit too mild mannered irrespective of his position as the world's best batsman.
    Ganguly in this regards stands the test of time. He knew his own plus points and weaknesses. It was he who started assembling teams based on the formats, though only minor additions or deletions were required to be made. Rather than Chappell, had the other applicants like Dean Jones and Mohinder Amarnath been the coach post John Wright, things would've taken a turn for good.
    While Dhoni bought us all the 3 ICC trophies and took us to the top of the ICC points table in both tests and ODIs, he became a near repeat of Azhar as India during his regime suffered drastically outside the subcontinent(minus the 2010-11 tour of South Africa).

    Gavaskar (despite 1985) and Sachin were never a captain material. Azhar, Dravid, Kumble & MS were always a better game reader + leader.
