    I was on the jury of a murder trial and it is unbelievably difficult. Every juror cried at some point -- the stress was overwhelming. Even when you think the person is guilty, deciding to put someone in prison for life or the death penalty is a heavy burden. She is right, it affects you more than you can ever imagine.

      Agree completely, justmemadison, it’s a heavy burden and you only know if you’ve actively participated in a jury trial AND you have actual human empathy and compassion, and that takes tremendous strength. If you shut down with shallowness masquerading as strength, you’ve missed the point and join the ranks of psychopaths and careless morons.

      It happens in a lot of trials, especially high profile ones. I work in media - usually there’s not a gag order and you can go and interview jurors the second the verdict is read. The only way this is different is that there is a gag order, so those jurors who actually deliberated aren’t allowed to be interviewed until the judge deems it safe, so your only option is to talk to the alternates. Aside from that, this isn’t unusual. It’s just more publicised so people are watching.

      @Sally Brown chances are likely she was approached by 1 news outlet and when the other’s got wind of it, integrated the same story in to their own programming. People need to stop looking for conspiracies where none exist. Her entire interview you can tell she intentionally left out any partisan or bias statements as best she could. I did not hear anything I would identify as being specifically liberal or conservative in nature. Yes she likely got some level of compensation from each outlet because A: she knows those outlets will end up benefiting financially from her interview.
      B: The likely fallout she will experience from this benign interview will make whatever monetary compensation she receives seem like “too little” in hindsight. It’s not as though she can demand some six-figure actor salary.

      It makes sense when you consider that, as a layperson, most people (me included) have the understanding that the core of the Fifth Amendment is that a person cannot be tried twice for the same crime. Given that, how could anyone vote to convict on all three of what appear to be three different versions of the same crime? I have decided to find him guilty, but of which crime? They appeared to be different levels of the same thing. It's my understanding that prosecutors will sometimes include lesser charges so that the jury will be more willing to come to a guilty verdict. I am not a lawyer, but I have served on several juries. It is not an easy thing for regular people to understand the intricacies of the law as it is applied in each case. And I challenge any normal person to stand in front of a group of reporters that we have seen turn hostile at a moment and keep their wits about them enough to not misuse phrases at least once. I don't KNOW that that's what happened, I just know how well I speak publicly without the benefit of being able to read back over it before it comes out of my mouth.

I truly believe that the bystanders distracted Chauvin enough to where he lost what the hell was going on. I just don't think he realized that George was on the verge of death and I think that those bystanders did not help in any way. I don't care what the prosecution said about them their barrage of remarks and that MMA dude really made things worse with his behavior. All of it contributed a lot to what went on in my opinion. The defence tried all these tactics.it was the bystanders, the exhaust pipe, the street that killed George Floyd. It wasnt the bystanders who had their knee of Floyd's neck. That was Chauvin. The bystanders were pleading for George Floyds life. I did watch the video and I watched Chauvin use excessive, unnecessary force and his police colleagues testified. Chauvin had his hand in his pocket as he casually killed Floyd, he knew what was happening and Im glad he rots in prison for what he did cos he's still alive and can breathe, he didn't let Floyd breath and he is dead. George Floyd is the only one I have sympathy for.

      @nyx6937 3 года назад +1

      @@rktl242 Second-degree murder is causing the death of a human being, without intent to cause that death, while committing or attempting to commit another felony. In this case, the felony was third-degree assault. Chauvin is charged & convicted with committing or intentionally aiding in the commission of this crime.
      Whether or not the MMA guy was distracting or not, Chauvin's still guilty of murder 3.
      Plus the role of the bystanders is circular logic: maybe they distracted Chauvin from focusing on his task, but they wouldn't have been doing that had Chauvin not been killing Floyd. They were reacting to the distress. Chauvin's face during the 9 minutes is also quite telling: rather than "distracted" it shows pride and determination as in "no, I'm the boss and I'll do as I damn please cuz I'm in charge"
      Imo here, the other cops are equally guilty for not intervening to stop the murder.
      I do agree that the MMA guy was more annoying than helpful.
      Murder 3 is 12 to 40 years. Since he'll likely serve the sentences concurrently, I'm betting the judge will give him 20 years, same sentence as the murderer of Walter Scott.

    • @bridgetsclama
      @bridgetsclama 3 года назад +1

      Not necessarily. I knew he was guilty of at least manslaughter but I was surprised he was found guilty on all charges. Cops RARELY get convicted of anything, and when they do, it's usually just the smallest and lightest one. People on juries don't like to convict police officers. Mostly I think that comes from fear because police officers can find you, their buddies probably already know where you live, and that can be terrifying. I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying that fear is an "extreme motivator" for many people. If you think you and your kids are in danger, you tend to act differently than if it's just you. And with cops.....well, we see how that goes every day with most not even getting charged at all. If not for that 17 yr old girl, who was traumatized for life, but courageously stood there for the entire thing, recording it all, and if she hadn't, you know what would have happened? Paperwork would have read that he was high on drugs and combative and must have stroked out from the drugs or who knows what kind of story would have been invented to cover it up. She made it so that, at a minimum, there was a trial. Trials can go either way.....but at least it made it to court.
      Now let's hope the other 3 that were holding him down or preventing the EMTs from helping....every one of them are guilty as accomplices at a minimum...so let's hope they also get some tough convictions.

      I watched full coverage of the trial from day one to the verdict, and while the defense's case and closing was mostly B.S. there were one or two things the defense showed during closing that did make me second guess, if only for a moment. Like the clip of Chauvin "redirecting the other officers to focus on Floyd." Officer Lane was asking if they should start putting stuff in the car and Chauvin said, "No, let's get him in the ambulance first." I felt that Chauvin was guilty on all charges, that the prosecution proved that beyond a reasonable doubt, (that the bystander video proved that beyond a reasonable doubt) and that manslaughter could be proven at the very least even to the Chauvin supporters regardless of cause of death, because Floyd was in medical distress, Officer Keung said he couldn't find a pulse, and Chauvin did nothing. Even with all of that, the one moment of Chauvin saying, "Let's get him in the ambulance first." Oof. There was also another moment that hit me, sometime during the trial, from one of the bodycams showing that Chauvin had just finally let go of Floyd's fingers as they put him in the ambulance, and as he turned back I caught what looked to me like a momentary expression of "Oh shit, I think I just killed that man." on Chauvin's face. But his unconcerned saunter back to his squad after...

      If someone is claustrophobic and being forced into tight places, constrained, etc. they have difficulty breathing and/or experience other issues.
      "Claustrophobia is the fear of confined spaces. It can be triggered by many situations or stimuli, including elevators, especially when crowded to capacity, windowless rooms, and hotel rooms with closed doors and sealed windows. Even bedrooms with a lock on the outside, small cars, and tight-necked clothing can induce a response in those with claustrophobia. It is typically classified as an anxiety disorder, which often results in panic attacks. The onset of claustrophobia has been attributed to many factors, including a reduction in the size of the amygdala, classical conditioning, or a genetic predisposition to fear small spaces.
      One study indicates that anywhere from 5-10% of the world population is affected by severe claustrophobia, but only a small percentage of these people receive some kind of treatment for the disorder."

I think if anything, the jurors would be more likely to vote in Guilty because it’s the truth instead of being fearful of riots as opposed to letting their identity know and please forgive me for saying this but, I think some jurors maybe afraid “NOW” of being profiled by police or possibly white supremacy groups because of their decision so they may not choose to do any interviews. Forgive me for sounding so cold or hateful but all of this has truly opened my eyes & millions to what we had no idea of how badly things really really are.
      Praying for for the Floyd family & all the many others that have lost their loved ones to police violence. May this be the beginning expedient changes 🙏🏼

      all this agonizing over the easiest verdict ever reached. this was the only case in american history where everyone on planet earth was a virtual eyewitness to the playing out of every single detail that went down, from beginning to end, from many mutiple angles and vantage points, of one of the most blatant, sadistic crimes imaginable.
      seriously, if this case had not resulted in a conviction, lady justice would have ripped off her blindfold, slammed her scales against a wall, and told us to all go f*k ourselves, right before she doused herself in gasoline and set her robes on fire.

      Did you know that annually 40% of police are reported for domestic violence...it's the highest rate in any profession and it is ten times higher than the national average across all professions. Keep in mind the blue wall of silence...meaning that only 40% of these abusers are being reported, and the real number is much higher. After hearing some of the shit Floyd & Chauvin's boss at the night club had to say about why he fired Chauvin, I'm certain this is why Chauvin's wife filed for divorce the moment he was arrested, as it was her safest way of escaping her abuser.

      If you truly think Chauvin murdered Floyd. Why are you ok with a manslaughter conviction? Why is it ok for someone to be charged with murder and manslaughter? These are two different circumstances that lead to the death of a victim. Yet, you can’t kill someone twice.

    • @1SCme

      @@ricardocabeza6006 Not a difficult concept, nothing new or unique.
      1. Chauvin was charged for the higher and lower crime.
      2. The jury found Chauvin met the requirements to be guilty for the higher and lower crimes.
      3. Sentencing will only be based on the highest crime, the lower crimes become irrelevant unless an appeal is successful.
      4. Appeals can potentially claim that Chauvin didn't commit the higher crime, without having to challenge the lower crime conviction, and get a reduction in sentence.

      She stated several items that she was worried for her safety. Think she was the only juror that felt that? No. That will be part of the reason why this case when it gets to the federal appeals court will be tossed out. The KKK would hang outside the court to intimidate jurors. Today we have the internet and mob mentality.
