Decade was such an AMAZING song. Still hits good now.
I remember distinctly seeing you with Taking Back Sunday in Chicago at the House of Blues late 2003 as a college kid, playing alongside Saves The Day. I was a fan of the band since the beginning. Though I was skeptical of new members, you totally won me over that show. It's been 20 years but I still remember that show. Been a fan ever since. I played A Decade Under The Influence in college when I was going through an extremely stressful time. To this day, I will put that song on when I'm stressed to relax me.
I love how chill and laid back you are. My dad's a lifetime bassist and lead vocalist. Watching you talk music & touring is like sitting with him reminiscing his wild road days. I'm 42 & it never gets old. He's opened for The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels to name a few.
That is so awesome! Your dad sounds like my kind of guy ❤️
@@TheColorFred Ha! He said, "Tell him to grab Mark & Let's Jam!"
“If I surrender” just hits so hard right from the beginning. Love it still after all these years
The worst part is such a well made song one of my favorite songs ever .it’s one of those songs that make you wish you had written .
That means a lot! I always loved writing with the BP guys.
Twenty twenty surgery is my favorite TBS song, and I had no idea it had a video until just a few months ago. Was it a single? I love the video for it! (Also the Set Phasers to Stun video is somewhere on RUclips, another great one haha)
2020 Surgery was only a single in the UK. I don’t remember the video playing in the states at all. Glad you like that one!
@@TheColorFred ah okay interesting. Didn’t know about that. Thanks for replying! Love the music 🤟🎵
This is such a throwback to middle school for me. I would literally sit in our office room and watch all these videos over and over again.
Graduated High School in 2003. Breaking Pangaea, TBS and Straylight Run…so much f’n nostalgia. Damn.
‘03 was a big year for us!!!!🤘
I’m 35 now but Fred, you helped shape so much of my youth 🙏 hope you’re doing well!!!
Fred, I have always considered you as a great musician, and in my opinion, your time at TBS is my favorite; It brings me back great memories. Now seeing yourself in these types of videos reacting with emotion and respect to all your work is great. Thank you very much for your music and respect for you. Regards from México!
I really appreciate that. I still enjoy playing and talking about all this music. Great times!
I look back on 2007-2008 very fondly, I fell in love with so many of my favorite bands that year when I was in 7th-8th grade. Seeing you guys with AVA will always be one of the most memorable nights during one of the most memorable years of my life!
That’s so cool bc it’s probably my favorite era of my bands. That AVA tour was so great for us.
Most days I think the internet was a mistake, except for stumbling into these nostalgia trips. Thanks for making the soundtrack of my youth!
Haha, I agree with you that I only learned the good side of the internet when I figured out how to reach out to all of you. And that includes talking in the comments. So, thanks for being here.
Yes sir!! Got my reminder set🤘🤘❤
Awesome vid man , hearing and seeing your story i think is an awesome thing that could help out musicians or people in general feeling a bit lost during these times
I am very excited for this!!
My son and my favorite taking back Sunday's song is you're so last summer. I had him earlier in life but anyway I'm 48 I think and he's 28 and he plays bass in a metal band, of course I am so proud of him, you know that you're a father.
A decade under the influence 🖤🤘🤘🤘
🙏🙏🙏
I'm very excited for this can't wait 👐
Taking Back Sunday was a treasured corner of my iPod when I was a young sailor on a submarine.
That's amazing. Thanks for being here
Imagine Fred redoing his looks from You're So Last Summer now ahaha
I love Terrible Things! Discovered TT on first date with my now wife when you toured with Mae. I imagine you and Dave could have some insanely complex musical collaborations.
When I watched the premiere, the Right I Left video gave me vibes about also applying to military families. I had a close friend who spent years dealing with emotional scars from blaming her father for her mother's mental health issues after he dragged their family around the country and then left them behind when he was constantly deployed. She really had to work hard to forgive him in order to spend more quality time with her parents towards the end. It was even sometimes hard for her to see her dad spending time with her sons when he had never had time with his own kids.
Love this! So many great videos & songs. You’re the man, Fred! 🖤
Love ya bro!
Nice!!! I’ve been waiting for this video to come out. Really epic Fred!
Glad you dig it!
Fred, Love this channel. Although it makes me feel old (34 now). The nostalgia is something I love. Brings me back to all of those concerts, when you with TBS and even a few years later when the news came out you left the band and then I am at a concert in Poughkeepsie, NY at The Chance and there you were with Terrible things opening up for Story of the Year and Anberlin. I was very happy to see you out touring and making music. Keep up the good work and making awesome music. - Joey D
I really appreciate you following my music through the years and even for being here now. Thanks ✌️
Damn I really miss you in TBS but still you have my respect. Great man.
🙏🙏thank you ✌️
what a trip. thanks for your art!
Thanks for being here!
Conspiracy took me way back! Definitely a favorite off that cd. Pre-Transmission is one of my favorite things you’ve ever done Fred! Super underrated 🤘
Great to see some TT support on here. Thanks!
enjoying this along with an LAL cookie for the full Mascherino experience! lol. love it Fred!
Haha! YES! 🍪
I've read up on Breaking Pangea because of you and Straylight Run, but never actually listened to it for whatever reason. Pretty sweet! You have clearly gotten a ton better, but I definitely hear your voice and style there! Your guitar style expanded vastly further though. Idk, found that neat and interesting lol. Also, it would be so rad if someone could find that Fuse video!
Thanks a lot! Yeah, I always kinda had my same sound that I do today but I’m glad you feel I got better. That doesn’t always happen😂
Fred thank you for everything you do and have done brother! I will stay tuned
Thanks so much!!
@@TheColorFred Fred build a time machine and take us back to the 2000’s the music industry is scary today!
You still got it, man. Cheers from Mazatlan, Mexico
Tell all your friends was the anthem of my highschool years
Again Fred, I’ve got so much love for you and this channel dude!
Great to have you here! I love doing all this. Thanks
Ohhh I remember back in high school watching If I surrender music video on repeat probably every day! Great song, too!
Can't wait to see this
Terrible Things is one of my favorite musical discoveries. A great album
One of the best records I’ve ever been a part of. Happy that you appreciate it!
I had no idea there was a video for 20-20 surgery! Great video man! You all are killing it with the new videos!!
Thanks. I appreciate you man!
Awwwww the Breaking Pangea Fred reminds me of my friend Mr. Mark Rose of Spitalfield! ❤️
This will be epic
love from the PH!
❤️❤️❤️
The Set Phasers to the Sun video is on RUclips!
Damn, i gotta find it
love this
Thanks!!
The song decade under the influence is what got me into tbs, I went out and bought the album after hearing that song and enjoyed the whole album, loved all the albums up to new again
Hey Fred! Just wanted to drop a comment to let you know that you're awesome and I'm glad I found you on RUclips. Tbh you're one of my favorite guitarists from that era of music.
If you want, you should react to the song "All the Old Things" by Sunrise Skater Kids. It's a wonderful mashup of all the big pop punk songs from the 2000's onward that I think you'll like! Definitely an underrated gem.
Keep up the great work!
You should really do a re-record of "The Worst Part". Just for fun. It's such a great song. And I absolutely love it as-is. But it would be equally cool to have an updated version too!
Great vid!!!
Thanks for watching!!😁
I have that same Grindhouse Coffee shirt from the one time I visited Philly ha
Heck yea!!!🤘. Love that place
Man, You’re so Last Summer music vid was the first TBS video I ever saw on Fuse and the one I remember the most. FLAVA FLAVVV
Also, had 0 clue you were in that video until fairly recently. Thought it was John for sure lol.
Haha! I can’t blame you for remembering it that way. And I looked pretty different in my opinion
Dude where you want to be was a life changer for me
That one changed my life as well. Thank you for being here.
Agree, that pre-chorus is the best.
the Hate To See You Go video matches the tone of the song perfectly
Yeah, they did an awesome job. Glad you dig it
The Liar and Decade videos are two of my all time favorites.
Me too! Thanks for watching ✌️
@@TheColorFred hard not to watch when you put out quality content, my friend. 😁
Gonna go check out pre-transmition. Also I never knew there was a video for twenty-twenty surgery.
Thanks 😊
Finding out Bowser made that video is blowing my mind! I recently pledged into his kickstarter for a movie he's gonna make.
He is such a cool guy! It’s so great to see people supporting him
When do we get to see a play through of Set Phasers To Stun!?
So weird how the drummer of BP played in straylight with John, while you took over for John in TBS. Small world for you guys
The arby's guy no way...🙏🙏🤣That guy is crazy funny..
Yeah, Andy’s awesome!!!
Fred you should teach us more of the tbs songs!!!
Worst Part is such an all time belter
Thanks a lot!!🤘🤘🤘
I love Andrew bowser. This makes me so happy 😁
Haha, me too! He's awesome
that black les paul custom though
Srsly!
@@TheColorFred ive been eyeing them lately, but i cant justify spending 5 + grand on one
Lol do you remember the “making of set phasers to stun video”? I remember I used to watch it on Comcast on demand, I think it was by music choice. Back in the day, like 2005. Adam had the shaved head lol. I thought it had a lot of funny bits. Not sure if it’s on RUclips, I’ll have to check
Looks like you can find the old set phasers to stun videos on RUclips, but they’re really old/low quality lol
Haha, I vaguely remember a ‘making of’ but I don’t remember the premise of it. I know we said we were done making music videos.
I'm 33, I'm in the odd position of never having listened to emo in HS when all these bands were huge due to being a gigantic metal snob at the time (and ofc emo was what metalheads loved to shit on back in the day to our shame).
I got into it big time about a year and a half ago though so I've been listening to TBS, Brand New, The Used, MCR etc. It's weird because I'll often vaguely recognize parts of songs that I probably heard at a friend's house in the background, at a party etc.
Anyways, your 2 albums with TBS are easily my favorites from them, so thank you sir. Favorite video is Make Damn Sure but for favorite song nearly impossible to pick from my top 10 tracks are so off WYWTB and Louder Now.
BTW - what's that band shirt?
Haha! I get it man. We all had our scenes in HS. It becomes less competitive as we get older and I’m always like “damn, I should’ve checked this out years ago!”
The shirt says “Grindcore House”. It’s a coffee shop I like in Philly.
Fred, you are amazing, I love you
❤️❤️❤️
Oh to be in 2005 watching you and My Chemical romance play in the UK, still got the ticket stubs somewhere :D
That was a great tour! MyChem was just starting to blow up. Great times
Grindcore House!
Onyx the Fortuitous directed a The Color Fred video?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTT?!!! 🤯
Truth!!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Fred you should check out the louder now tour documentary and liar mv behind the scenes video if you havent!
I just checked out terrible things I love it
❤️
Am I crazy or was there an alternate/director's cut/etc version of the makedamnsure video? I remember seeing on I think "The N" which was a network related to Nickelodeon that had shows like Degrassi. My memory is foggy but I feel like they showed it like between the degrassi episode TBS had a special appearance on.
That sounds familiar but I can’t confirm that by own memory either. Doing Degrassi was a trip though
@@TheColorFred thanks for the reply. Super cool to see you active and responding to people here.
Got a pic with you at the Warped Tour with Terrible Things! Best show that day! I changed my profile pic to that photo if you wanna see it. ;)
I’ll check it out! Thanks for still being here 🙏🤘🤘
@The Color Fred Is the girl in the Worst Part video the same girl as is in Fall Out Boy's Grand Theft Autumn video? If not, doppelganger for sure because they look identical.
I don’t know! I’ll check but assuming no.
I saw you on tour with AVA at the electric factory in (2007??) On Valentines day. I was about 14 and it was my first concert. You were awesome and AVA was my favorite band (behind blink 😂) do you remeber the show Im talking about? Would be crazy if you do lol
Yes, I remember well! Glad to see you're still part of the scene. Thanks for watching!
@@TheColorFred Thanks Fred. God bless.
I used to want to sing with you so badly and now at age 34, I still want to! 🖤
We need The Color Fred on Tiny Desk.
Hook it up!
I'm pretty sure the "Set Phasers To Stun" is on RUclips, just add fuse video to the search
Idk if you identify with the Philly or Eastern PA music scene, but there's a lot of incredible bands out of there in the last 10+ years. I'm sure plenty of people know The Wonder Years. After your time with TBS but some of the bigger current bands like The Menzingers toured who really blew up. They have a brother band (literally), Captain We're Sinking, that also put out one of the best punk albums of the decade (The Future Is Cancelled). Then there's guys like Modern Baseball who have a huge cult following in the emo revival scene. A few more like Glocca Morra, Tigers Jaw, and Title Fight are all things people who listened to TBS and you could probably get into.
Thanks for sharing all these bands. Of course I’ve heard of most but I really need to dig in and get to know more of the music.
I mean the real people recognize you. When I first got my driver's license I saw BP play with Coheed and Little League. It was at Homebase in Wilkes-Barre, then I saw you many times play at Cafe Metro.
Ha! Yea, that was a memorable show. I remember Coheed got the first mixes of their album in the mail that day. We listened to it in their van on a boom box they had. Glad to see your comment man!
Andrew Bowser shout out at time stamp 11:11
🤘❤️🤘
What was the first ever band you were in?
My first band was Stickman. We put out two cassette tapes when I was in High School. We played NYC and all the bars in philly by the time I was 17.
Why did you leave TBS? :( EDIT: Never mind - just looked it up. Thanks for all the great music!
Howcome yous didn't make "spin" into a video?..badass song
Great question. I love that one too. Thanks!
did u straighten ur hair when u were in taking back sunday?
Haha, no! Always been straight and stringy
What happened to the music video for My Blue Heaven? I would love to know what happened to that. I remember searching the internet for that video every day, hoping it would be released 🤣
I actually have no recollection of such video? Did this exist? Has anyone seen this and I’m forgetting?
@@TheColorFred I remember reading an article about you guys filming a video for the song but then it was canceled because you guys weren't happy with how the video turned out. So I don't think it was ever released.
Maybe this was just a false internet rumor?
20 20 surgery lyrics meaning?
Can you kindly cover an acoustic version of Photograph please? Def leopard not TBS
I always wondered how A Decade Under the Influence was filmed. Very fitting to be filmed in a skatepark, many hours skating to that album. Still my favorite album of all time!
That’s awesome. That album is really special for me as well. 🛹
Haha. That’s not you in the worst part video. You look Nothing like high school or now. LOL
Hahahahahaha!!! 🤣🤣🤣
fred when are you coming to KFN for emo night?
I don’t know much about it. When should I show up?!
@@TheColorFred show up to the show in Philly on August 13th!
@@TheColorFred Kung Fu Necktie, a bar in Philly. They're doing emo night this Friday but usually run 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month
What's his kids band name. Lil eto is.a rapper
‘Lilito’. ruclips.net/video/T1zSnihBn34/видео.html
It's so crazy this day in age. Never would of thought I could get a response from my favorite musician growing up. Wish you'd get personal. Lol
Edit. Like it's really Adams band. Even though you were obviously the driving force.... Saw a video where adam said "the new players are tighter and don't let much get past them" pshh u were the best thing to happen to tbs.
"says" kinda depressing. I liked the end where it picked up. They need a banger
I really like ding ding ditch tho
Edit. Wow I really like it. I'ma try n get my daughter into it
