Every January there is a Sto. Niño ( Infant Jesus) celebration all over the country. But there are big towns or big cities particularly in Visayas Islands where they celebrate Sto. Niño as Ati atihan Festival like whats going on there in Boracay, then Kalibo and the biggest celebration is the Sinulog in Cebu and thats still this month of January. Hope u celebrate more of this festival in different islands mentioned. Enjoy🇵🇭🏝️🏝️🏝️
Hi maam sir..im your newest follower and supporter now..ahmf thank you for your coming in jopines store im happy to see you 😊enjoy your vacation in the philippines
Philippines is a majority of Christian people 90% i think, mostly are Catholic, we celebrate the Saints of each City, town, even barangay. We called that fiesta to celebrate saint, and other are fistivals, every year we celebrate, its more fun in the philippines❤️🇵🇭

Please visit us here in Legaspi city, Albay, Philippines, home of famous majestic mayon volcano, & enjoy our spicy specialty foods here in BICOL region, please come and swim with the largest fish, locally called BUTANDING or whale shark at Donsol, Sorsogon, soutern luzon. Of Manila.
This is a celebration in honor of the Infant Jesus, the town's patron. Ati-Atihan, observed in honor of the Child Jesus. Ati-atihan means 'making like Atis,' that is, pretending to be like the aboriginal natives that once inhabited Aklan... by Tourism Board
Ati or Aeta is the indigenous black Filipino. Hence, Ati-atihan means to mimic the ways of the Atis. That's why they paint themselves with black or other materials (like charcoals, etc.). You see, Malays purchased Panay Island from the Atis and the first Ati-atihan was probably the celebration of that purchase. As the practice evolved, they now use other colors using paints.
In our local neighborhood (Brgy. Cogon, Gubat, Sorsogon. 600km south of Manila), within the jurisdiction of the parish church, there's also a festival called Pag-Omaw (To Praise) Festival which is also in correlation with the Sinulog in Cebu. The star of the festival is also the Santo Niño (holy child Jesus). It's on the 28th of January. But the big event in our town is on June 13. The town fiesta, in honor of St. Anthony de Padua.
The biggest santo Nino festival in the entire Philippines is in Cebu because the original Santo Nino statue from Spain which was brought by Magellan from Spain in the year 1500 is in Cebu. You can see it in the Sto. Parish Church and itis the also the fiesta of enite city of Cebu. It's the biggest celebration of the year in cebu city. This what we call SINULOG. The feast of Santo Nino and the feast of the entire city. The original celebration is really from CEBU.
I Wish you Guys Have Time to go Back to Cebu For Sinulog this Weekend A Lot of Vloggers Are Going, This is The Big and A Popular One of All Festivals in The Philippines 🙏👍👍👍👍✌️👌💪💪💕🇺🇸
The main celebration of ati-atihan is in the main island of Aklan. The capital city Kalibo. It is a celebration way back 800+ years ago.Ati-atihan mean to be like Ati indigenous people.2 weeks of street dancing lots of activities. The first settler of the island black and curly hair people..The Christian symbol was added during the Spanish colonial time.Ati-atihan is the mother of all Philippine festival the oldest one.
Ati Atiham is actually celebrate in Kalibu Akllan every 3rd week of January Peope shout " Hala Bira " or " give it all " during the parade .. Ati Atiham is a celebration for Sto Nino as long as Sinulog Festival in Cebu & Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo During the Sinulog Festival people shout " Viva Pit Señor" ..and peope in the parade will put paint on your face Sinulog Festival ( Cebu ) every 3rd week of January. Sinulog Festival ( uloiko ) every 4rh of January During ati Atiham, Sinulog and Dinagyang Festival there is a dance contest of all tribes ..every tribe paint their body from head to toe ...
If you go in Cebu you have to be Careful, Coz people’s Just Randomly Paint your Face , So you just Wear plain Shirts Or Else People’s well messed up your Clothing For the Paints …. You Should go for the Experience of a Lifetime…. 👍👍👍🙏
Ati is the name of the african tribe tgat are the original settlers of aklan!!! The africans are the first settlers in the phil!!! They migrated from africa!!! They are the same people as the aborigines of australia and other pacific islands!!!
Aklan is inhabited by the negrito or african settlers!! That province was bought by the malay settlers from indonesia and malaysia to the african settlers!!! And that celebration is the reenactment of the leaving of the african settlers!! And turning over of the island to the malay settlers!!!!
I think the celebration of Sto Nino was about the retaking of Kalibo sto nino from Muslim invaders. They painted themselves black and attack the Muslim invaders to retake the city. The Muslim panic and the locals were able to retake the city.. pls correct me if I’m wrong.
Happened after Spain colonized Philippines. The Muslim kingdom in the Philippines attack one the Spanish colony, Kalibo, Aklan a Christian city and took over it. The people from Kalibo paint themselves black and attack the Muslims to recover the city.and retake the sto. Nino.
Nope the one u talking about is Barter of Panay. But we both celebrate it during the ati-atihan festival. That was during sa Spanish time already. The ati-atihan origin is way back 800+years ago. Before the Spanish era.
Why would the conquistadores allow such celebrations by Indios. The peace exchange between Datu Puti and Hari Marikudo happened in Iloilo. This celebration is about the saint Sto Nino and to say it happened before Spain don’t make sense. Any fiesta celebration is related to Spain.@@dalisayhd1980
