Very safe choices. Almost like he googled “where should tourists eat” and just took the top results. There are definitely better places for each type of food in this video
Tbf Wilensky's sandwich and Orange Julep's beverage are pretty unique, but yeah I agree. I was surprised he didn't talk about Schwartz's deli lmao
The only one that could be debattable would be St-Viateur Bagel, they are pretty much the best bagel we've got. Maybe Fairmount too but yeah
Orange julep on the fence, but the rest yeah. Odd lack of smoked meat though.
Literally almost anywhere you go in MTL is fire. It's the city of food
so good!!
100% . Always has been.
I appreciate you posting this. Options for the viewer and traveler to decide upon.
My pleasure!
Tapeo. That's one of the really great restaurants in Montreal, well, if you like tapas. There is also Momo sushi. If you want to try sushi but you are allergic to fishes (Like me) Momo is a great place to go because it's vegan.
I’ll be in Montreal next week and can’t wait to try a few of these places!
love it!!
was it good?
Un régal !
La Fabrique!!! ❤❤❤❤ One of the best restaurants in Montreal. They are very creative and just brilliant!
Thank you my good sir, I will be going to all these places this week
love it!
Fabulous video!!
thanks!!
Best Montreal food video ever! Well Done.
thank you!!
Coming to Montreal in August for one week, with my nephew for his " before senior year trip" ...hoping to try at least one of your recommendations
BONNE SANTÉ JEREMY !!!
This video made me feel so nostalgic from when I lived in Canada (mtl) in 2017/18. Thanks
love it!
Where do you live now?
Crazy that you featured Wilensky's, I lived on the corner of Clark, on the 2nd floor, facing Wilensky's and St. Viateur bagel for two years..Those were the days!
Fairmounr Bagel is next to Wilensky's
@@mikesheridan7651 No it isn't, Wilensky's is on the corner of Clark/ Fairmont and Bagel is on the corner of Fairmont/ St Laurent..there are at least three diff commercial addresses in between the two
Nobody goes there.
Awesome video! We'll definitely check out that poutine place when we're in Montreal next week!
thanks!!
im watching this while starving
While I can't say we can challenge Montreal - because good god this looks so good - I still hope to see you in Newfoundland! We have an interesting restaurant scene.
Great, I'm hungry again haha
lol
So which bagel did you like better, the home version or the briochy one ?
Montreal bagels are my preference. I am actually not a big fan of NY style. Too doughy for me. I like the crunch of a Montreal style. Its funny but I would describe the ones I've had being brioche like but they certainly are good.
Where did Jeremy get that shirt from Montreal's 1982 MLB all-star game?!
Awesome
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The place for bagels is Fairmount bagels, not St-Viateur bagels. You are spot on for the rest. You also needed to have some old fashion smoked meat from Dunn's or from Snowdon Deli.
St-Viateur > Fairmont. All day. Every day.
Funny how I went to all of them. Truly a good city
You should try the poutine at le fou de la patate in Waterloo on foster street...just in front of our big store Dolorama.....one of the BEST....belive me👍😋😋😋
How long after the meal do you turn into a 'Salad Shooter' ? ô¿ô
Banquise pronounciation... Bank + Keys bankkeys
There's also Ma Poule Mouille nearby that has really great spicy Portuguese chicken
I also wanna mention St Viateur Cafe by the same owners that has bfast and bagel sandwiches with the same lovely bagels.
Also Yokato Yokabai the best Ramen in the city with their made in house noodles and L Anecdote a quaint ma and pa time warp greasy spoon with great bugers all within 10 minutes of the Banquise
thanks!
Unfortunately L'Anecdote didn't survive COVID and is closed now :(
@@buskologie-portraitsdartis5603 dammit. my go to burger places are pretty much gone around LaFontaine.
@@BrunchBoys actually I'd like to amend what @rickmayabolis said your beginning pronunciation of ban- is correct, the rest is keys. SO it sounds like something like bawn-keys where the "n" is not pronounced. In other words, think of the expression or onomatopoeia "awn" is sometimes written as "aww" in English as well because we don't really pronounce the "n". So b-"awn"-keys or bawn-keys.
In other words it would not be pronounced like "pawn" where the "n" is pronounced, but rather, "awn" with a b in front. And then finish the words with keys like the thing that unlocks your doors.
@@Qymar12 ah thank you!!
I was actually craving vegetables, after watching this.
It's true ! 😊
@@katherineraven6381 Ha ha! Right?
What do pastries do for 15 mins? I couldn't understand what he said
I'm assuming that nothing else will be eaten on the same day as that apple fritter! My God! The're got to be at least 2,500 calories in that thing! Sure looks good, though!
We drive to Buffalo for wings ....Montreal for Dunn's Famous. Poutine with smoke meat And the best i ever in my life (50 years) Chocolate fudge cake.soft creamy unreal ...Montreal has 3 or 4 must trys 4 to 8 iconic places (doesnt not mean cheap to eat ) And i passed on a few of them just for being over the top tourist priced places ..But if you can find that hole in the wall Quebecois home cooked meal spots with up and coming chefs You will eat well and smile Hearty foods with full flavors But yes you have to have a Wilinskys to be a Montrealer
nice!!
What are some of the best restaurants you have eating in in Montréal and what are those you recommand?
Try Pete's Smoked Meat just off the west end of the Island (Highway 20),
Pete’s meat is great, but officially not on island of Montreal.
Lol Fred Caillou, it's Fred Flintstone!!
Banquise lol seriously... you could of went across the street to poule mouillé and got an even better poutine there
I am salivating. Used to livein Montreal, now Vancouver. Hate the food here. miss Monteal food.
Nice video Jeremy. I'm sure most of us would want to know the price you paid for the food items.
thank you! food prices change so constantly, that unless its really important to that story, i tend to ignore, and let people just look up current prices on their own. For example this is from over a year ago, im sure every price is different
@@BrunchBoys I had to stop half way through just too watch another channel that included prices
People are so lazy lol you can find the menu to all these places online
Chesky’s in the mile-end is also a solid Jewish bakery.
Dude! Are we long lost cousins? Jacobowitz ~ Jakubowicz
maybe!
The best poutine is at "Au pied de cochon" with foie-gras...
I wonder if the f1 drivers went to these places the past weekend
Montreal is an amazing town, And there's no shortage of amazing towns to visit. Im excited to visit Schwartz deli, Do their dripping sandwiches taste good? 😍
Schwartz deli was ok. The sandwich was small for the price. If you go to Chicago stop by Manny's now that's a sandwich!
Deli Snowdon is better and where locals eat. More pleasant service, more menu items, good smoked meat.
As a local, don't visit Schwartz. The Main or Smoke Meat Pete is better.
I don’t know.. Schwartz is still amazing to me and always will be! I like to think of the positive. It is very tasty!
lester's on bernard st is good
14 prince Arthur for fresh vietnamese cuisine 😋
La Banquise is a bit overated. Most known and the waiting line is ridiculous.
La Banquise, for me, is a tourist trap. I am not saying it's not good, it's just overrated. Barely any cheese in it, I always need to ask 2 or 3 extra cheese and most of the times they dont layer the extras, they just put them on top. I'd much rather go to Paul Patates or Paulo and Suzanne. They are not cheap on the cheese.
Anyway, much like Schwartz, tourists can keep filling La Banquise, means no waiting time in better places.
Hi I will be traveling to Montreal this may, I'll definitely check out your recommendation for the poutine, would you have any recommendation for the smoked meat, bagel, croissant, and smoke salmon?
@@matchachachoco8948 Hi. For the Smoked Meat I would suggest Lester's in Outremont, Deli Snowdon or Smoke Meat Pete (if you have a car for Pete). You might like to know that though Smoke Pete is further away, it is an amazing restaurant that often features blues bands. Had an awesome time there.
On Bagels you cannot go wrong with either Fairmount or St-Viateur (I have a preference for St-Viateur though). You might want to checl Bagel St-Lo in Verdun.
For croissants, I like Kouign Amann on Mont_royal (You might want to try their eponymous treat), Brioche a Tete and Patisserie Rhubarbe as well. You can't go wrong.
For smoked salmon, sorry can't help. But my favorite fish market is Poissonnerie La Mer. They do have a good smoked salmon. The best? No idea so don't take my word for it.
@@djyanno thank you so much for your recommendation I'll definitely go check out these places
@@matchachachoco8948 You are very welcome
The little greasy spoons in the St-Henri district is where you can still find authentic Quebecois staples like frites-sauce and pea soup for under $10.
Swartz mtr smoke meat :-) and Marconis pizzas the best uni burger yuuuuuuuumy!!!!
The Orange Julip has always been uniquely fabulous. No mention of St Hubert BBQ or Chalet BBQ. Can't beat Lester's smoked meat.
St Hubert is so mid lol.
@@user-dy3zt1lz4rits a classic
St Hubert used to be good but was sold a few years ago. The menu is now a hodgepodge and overpriced for what it is sadly.
Wow, Jeremy! I don't think you would be able to keep your youthful and slim physique for too long eating food like that. I've only had poutine once and not a fan and I am not slim. I cant imagine what I'd weigh if I ate all that fried food. Montreal does have great food for sure and is a fascinating city. I enjoyed your video.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Probably has AIDS
@@unclepaul69 you are a monster. congrats
@@BrunchBoys do da bit
All tourist go to la banquise its so funny haha
Where do you think people should go?
These were great, but letting people know here in Montreal we also have excellent healthy and also vegan food. Terroire cuisine (locally grown and produced) is a big part of our culture.
Thank you, will look that up! I was just thinking about if there were healthy places my family and friends can go to. Cool suggestions tho, will go to St. Viateur for sure!
Lies again? Mister Potato
Vegetables are poison and terrible for you. Best to stick to the carnivore diet like we are meant to eat. 👍
That’s also great, but I would say we prefer hearty, rich foods, and especially meat, they’re trying to take away the most essential, nutrients human beings need and lived on for ages, but rather fear us genetically engineered, cattle and animals in general, which is what they are planning
@@anasibndawood6696 Not to burst your bubble, but domesticated animals are genetically modified. They have been bred over centuries to be dependent on humans, docile and produce extra meat. Our pre-agrarian, hunter ancestors would not recognize domestic cattle, pigs, sheep or goats. They would have also foraged heavily for shoots, roots, berries, nuts, snails, frogs and insects such as grasshoppers and locusts as well as beetle grubs. Hunting large game is much harder and more dangerous than hunting rodents and hamrless lizards and snakes. They would likely have also scavenged carcasses left by other predators, and eaten the placenta after a woman gave birth. Our more recent ancestors likely also ate far less meat, simply because they had fewer ways to preserve it and it is very expensive to produce (you have to wait a long time for your steer to become a young adult, but it's eating constantly, so you have to choose how much food to grow for constant food source or waiting until butchering time) if you have only small tracts of land. Few people were large land oners. I say this as the daughter of generations of farmers in Germany and Hungary.
Skip the julep go to decarie hotdogs.
Julep toastees is better than Decarie Hot-Dogs, but Decarie Hot-Dogs has better fries and Coke Cola is still served in glass bottles.
I couldn’t agree more! Decarie Hotdog all the way!
Go to Green Spot near Marché Atwater for one of the best hot dogs.
The poutine at la banquise is not that generous with their portions... at least not when we went. You can make good ones at home. Poutineville is a fun experience.
This is a very fast food list. How about restaurants such as Europea, Mousso, Vin Mon Lapin, Maison Boulud, Toqué?
No european or things like that please, just go at some really go resto that serve Cuisine du terroir
very expensive
7:54 My pancreas hurts just looking at this.
So its not restaurants, but fast food?
Not a big fan of French Quebecers but the poutine is the most underrated comfort food! Hands down
If your a foodie then joe beef is a must
Joe beef had resorted to highway robbery with their prices, I won’t go anymore on principal
This is sponsored by the Heart Institute of Montreal 😂
I’ve found saint visiteur’s bagel way to dense
Fairmount all the way!
My name is Jacobowitz too. Are we related? My grandparents came from Hungary.
maybe at some point! my family is from poland
awesome shirt!!! but foreign fanatics were the best #quebecers
lol
Fairmont Bagel is the place for bagels in Montreal 😎
Fairmount Bagel is still owned by the same Jewish family that used to work at Montreal Bagels back in 1927, St-Viateur Bagel is now own by two Italian brothers they acquired from 1956.
Canada has the best fries in the world. Go to St. John's Newfoundland nad have Ziggy Peelgood fries. Can't be matched. Better with fish and gravy
La bankweez
Rien extraordinaire..i l y a des endroits meilleurs que ça
Comme..?
Can’t make a places to eat in Montreal video and not include Montreal smoke meat. Snowden Deli is my nominee.
Bro don't spill on that WF shirt. That thing has to be worth a lot of poutine.
lol im a pro!
Where is Schwartz?
Forget NY bagels ours are the best
La Banquise is totally overrated. You need to go to Normand Patates in Verdun or La frite à Brigitte in Dorion. Truly the best
La Louisianne in NDG.
Are you kidding me. What about Garde Manger & a host of others.
Poutine , Mistake not Canadian but Quebec.
Frites-sauce is the original Quebec dish, Poutine only came later in the late 80's so they could charge tourists more ! A frite-sauce or a Joe Louis with a Pepsi is the true Quebecois coolness ...LoL
@@etow8034 Where in the world did you get such a false info ?
Really charge tourist more ! You have great imagination that I must admit. Where are you From ?
@@robelanger4242 You don't seem to understand the point ! Poutine was made to cost more so they can charge more ! No one from those working class neighborhoods is going to pay $25 +taxes for a bowl of poutine at that tourist trap place !
you need smoke meat sandwich
As a Montrealer, this is the most generic list you can come up with. This is just the top 5 easy search google results. Look at Schwartz smoke meat, and poutine can be had anywhere and it's solid. Orange Julep is super overrated. It was cool on Wednesdays when they held the classic car shows in the summer, but the food was never an attraction. Rueben's is also good. A solid (expensive) steakhouse is Moishes.
Poutine? Seriously, you've just outed yourself there.
remember this....when someone says "they take poutine to the next level" , they don't know what they're talking about. A poutine is a poutine...adding in meats and "wild variations"...never works, and it's never better than a traditional poutine. Trust me...I've tried. Stick to the classic. La Pataterie in Ottawa/Gatineau is best...maybe La Pataterie in Montreal is best. I'll try it this summer. But don't ever step into poutine by eating a next level poutine...steer clear!
hey !n never say no to a little bacon .....LOL
smoke meat???
that breakfast cook needs to clean his damn nails, GROSS !
La banquise is overrated as a montrealer
La Banquise is mid
Fairmount Bagels are superior.
I think I speak for most of America when I say that I don't understand poutine
You didn't go to Schwartz , you missed everything when it comes to food in Montreal, didn't even eat a Smoked Meat sandwich
Locals don't think banquise is the best poutine, of course all of you buy in too the hype. It;s definetly not the best poutine from a local Montreal guy. Poutine top with ognion rings and all that meat that is not a poutine. A poutine is fries sauce and 50% cheese not 15% lol
Okay, you missed so many places that are 10 times better than those! No, no and no!
Nah thank you
Hi ! Poutine is not a canadian good ,its typicly from Québec point.... lol bye bye
im sorry, what country is quebec in?
@@BrunchBoys hi dont be sorry lol Quebec is a province in Canada, we are french speaking but we speak english to
We did invente the Poutine and the followed us lol
Go at the restaurant (la banquise) where the Poutine is queen
Continue your good work bye bye
@@BrunchBoys most Quebecois don't celebrate Canada Day. Even in federal institutions in the province. They call St Jean Baptiste day fete national, not fete provincial. In short they think of Quebec as a country instead of a province.
@@jodycarter7308 ah, someone should tell them that literally no on else on earth thinks that too lol. They are canada
I’m glad for your success. I subscribed to your channel but when you said GD in two videos I unsubscribed. I’m not being judgmental. However it’s extremely important to me that no one takes God’s Name in vain. I can only pray you come to an understanding of How Great Is God. 🌺🌺
How could you not include Ma Poulet? How could you not include Patati Patata? Or La Carreta pupusas or some of the other amazing ethnic food Montreal has? How about a Peruvian pollo a la brasa or a good shish taook? The only one on that video that should be on a list of best places is the St.Viateur bagels. Just sayin.
How could you be so offended?
@@magicallday8557 Definitely didnt say I was offended. But you clearly didn't do the research.
@@Apachita I agree, if La Banquise is your favorite poutine, you did not really put any efforts.
you want good peruvian food , you go to peru , you want good poutine , you go to montreal.
Que les clichés touristiques de Montréal. Y'a au moin 100 meilleurs resto que ça à Montréal
La banquise is not good ! Please stop saying it is
La banquise is only good when you are on munchies 😅😅
Could I ask you a good place for Poutones??
Poutine is like sex.. when its bad, its still pretty good 😅
You have to go outside Montreal for great poutine.
Patate Mallette in Beauharnois, sauce from a kettle, is a classic
Patate Royale 2.0 in St-Jean sur Richelieu is another.
Cantine chez Dave and Dan (4.7) is my fav.
In Montreal, however, the poutine from Ma Poule Mouillée is on my list…
@@dcorman2350 i also recommend Ma Poule Mouillée for poutine and Portuguese chicken.. Awesome food.. la banquise was okay but definitely not great.
I agree when I went the I was expecting something way better.
poutine's not canadian
Exactly. He's Russian.
Quebec is in Canada, so technically it is but everyone knows you can only get really good poutine in Quebec.
Jewball cuisine
No Montreal Smoked Meat??????????? You've lost my integrity in a BIG way.
Let’s stop pretending poutine is a good dish.
Stop it with Poutine already. It's nothing but glorified fast food. Go to a real restaurant and you'll get a meal like you've never imagined, you coming from the states, that is.
MUST EAT??!! Are you kidding me?........especially suggesting things like pancakes? Where are the joe beef or Au pied du Cochon....etc. Now, those are MUST EAT RESTAURANTS!
Any good restaurants you recommend that has foie gras
too expensive
after l saw the garbage food in the video.. l went to the bathroom.. l never eat that, is disgusting .. and l live in montreal; ..l never go to those shitty places.. but there are much better places with really good food.. guess what ..l love ceviche.. .
are you ok bro?
@@BrunchBoys dude, high carbs with extra sugar in every meal and basically the worst of fast food, I am with lucho. I was hoping for restaurants with nice cuisine.
@@NHBob1959 don't be classist , he showed some real nice mtl eateries. I personally don't like la banquise. Never have. But it's not a reason to be childish and bash like this. If you want him to try places, why don't you suggest some?
