Montreal native here. I've been eating at many of these establishments for over 50 years. While some of these are clearly aimed at tourists, many of them are very much local establishments built on the patronage of their neighbourhood. Some of my most precious romantic memories are associated with some of these restaurants.
Know too that the list presented in this video, while certainly touching on many of the highlights, is by no means exhaustive. Montreal is an epicurean population and no restaurant will last long here if its standards are not high. Here, you are highly unlikely to be disappointed if you simply walk into any of the great many quirky local establishments.

Montreal is a dream destination for anyone who is looking to be amazed by the incredible number of restaurants, cafes and eateries, with such wonderful and delicious food options! We still have a very long list of places that we would love to try, and we hope to get back there again some day soon to continue eating our way around the city.
Thank you very much for watching, and for your great comment :)

Hello Tom and Mike- my husband and I stumbled upon your video in preparation for our 25th anniversary trip to Montreal. We made notes as we listened. We have only deviated from your recs once and had a terrible meal so when we did. Thanks so much for your expertise. We’ve had a great time in large part due to your restaurant recommendations. We have two more days left and just made reservations for Les duex gamin for tmw! Unfortunately, L’express is full- was so looking forward to the caramel dessert. Maybe next time! Again, thank you so much!

Just finished dinner at Jardin Nelson, thanks for the info, it was great. HINT:. It opens at 5:00 weekdays. We were about the 19th couple in line arriving about 4:53. Go seated quickly and within 15 minutes the rear garden was PACKED. Food drinks and service great though a little slow. Had liver pate, salmon poke bowl and seafood crepes. All great!

La Banquise...... It makes me sad. Big tourist trap. They barely have any cheese. For me, a good poutine si when you are about to finish, you still have cheese. At La Banquise it's impossible, becaus ethe cheese is all eaten after the few first bites. And when we ask extra cheese, they just put it on top instead of layering it. The hype for this place is baffling me and most of the Montrealers I know.
And Schwartz??? Now I am even sadder for you guys.... Wish I could have talk to you beforehand... In Chinatown, may I suggest Dobe and Andy for their BBQ pork and duck?

You totally missed Coronelli's in Little Italy.
    The entire Mille End.
(Leméac, Chez Levesque, Fairmount and St Viateur Bagel, LeChien Fumant).
    Plateau.
LE Nil Bleu, India Rosa, LE Colibri Rouge.
    Romandos.
    Patati Patata.
    Sanos Bakery.

Thanks for the recommendations, we'll have to give them a try. We did have St. Viateur, which is in the video. Romados was always closed when we went, I think they were doing renovations. We tried Patati Patata and it wasn't that good. We went to Fairmount Bagel but didn't have the camera with us that day. We'll just have to keep eating until we get to them all lol. Thanks for watching :)

Sorry boys the tone of delivery made me click off the video right away. You need to be more relaxed and less of a Tv host voice that's soo exaggerated.Just being honest take it how ever you like.

Guys!!!! Those videos are disgusting. My God, wipe your mouth!!! Also, it’s Le Plateau “Mont Royal”, not “Montreal”. That desert you had at Bonaparte, is a Ma”ca”Ron, not a Ma”cr”on. And Nouilles is pronounced nooy, not nooeel. By the way, you guys eat way too much meat. On a lighter note, hope you walked around some ‘cause thats a lot of calories.

To all tourists coming to Montreal. Stay away from fancy restaurants in Old Montreal, on Notre-Dame Street, on St.Laurent Blvd, especially in Little Italy, and Marche Jean-Talon. These places are all ripoff joints, unless you enjoy being ripped-off. And stay away from the Casino, unless your a degenerate gambler. Capeesh!

Awful choices… from a West Island inhabitant of Montreal!

@@ednaturner307 Well from your 3 negative comments, it is pretty clear that you are a very unhappy person (that's the most negative comments we've received from 1 person). Hope your life improves enough so that you don't try to pick internet arguments with strangers. BTW we went to Maison Boulud at the Ritz and we did not include it in our video because we did not think it was that good. Hope you feel better soon!

@@TakeTimeToTravel I am a very happy and joyful person with a tremendous sense of humour. Insulting me because I pointed out that your choices of eateries are ridiculous is not the way to go.

@@TakeTimeToTravel you’re the ones who picked internet arguments with a stranger. If you publicly post something and WOW mediocre low class eateries in a fabulous fine dining city like Montreal, you should not be so thin skinned and accept well deserved criticism, and NOT argue, but learn from them. BTW all anyone has to do to find suitable restaurants is GOOGLE!
