  • Ruger SR22 pistol disassembly and cleaning guide quick field strip w/PostmasterPrepper
    Don't know how to clean the Ruger SR22 pistol? In this video I show you how to quickly and easily field strip the Ruger SR22 and clean the insides. I give a few pointers on where to clean as well as how to disassemble and reassemble the gun.
    Keeping your gun clean is a very important part about owning a gun, and you want to make sure to do so after each time you use it. You may also want to clean and lube it up if it sat around for a while, especially if you plan on shooting it.

    Thank you for your help. My first time taking my SR 22 down for a light cleaning. Had only slight problem getting slide back on frame, Im sure after a couple more times I will get it back on easily as it came off. I would be careful putting more than a very light covering of oil on any part of the slide or action and especially the trigger parts. Oil and /or grease while necessary attract dust , carbon fouling and powder residues. Light and often.
    Suppressors / silencers dont silence but with subsonic ammo ( dont know if all will cycle but some def will) the loudest sounds will be your bullets hitting target and your neighbors thanking you if like myself you shoot often and during early morn or sometimes at night.
    Thanks again. Shoot safe.

    Great job, I was forgetting the proper orientation of the recoil spring and rod and it just won't work if you don't have it the right way. That's cool, after watching your video for just a few seconds I knew what I was doing wrong. Haven't shot this pistol for awhile so as we get older things are easier to forget.

    Nice job with this video, another idea that I use is a bore snake it keeps the brass brush and cleaning surface going the right direction from the breach to the end of the barrel easily and I also use Ramrodz cleaning swabs they work great ! The takedown lever on this Ruger SR22 is know to break over time so I only clean it when it starts to misfire, to prevent having to open it more than I have to.

    I recommend going the other direction with the brush. Why would you push the fouling into the gun. Once through remove the brush and back out the rod. I use a swab with Butch's Bore Shine to loosen up all of the fouling from 22 ammo.

    Yeah, i was wondering if you can put the cleaning rod thru the front end of the barrel.I found the first time there was no way to get it through the back.I've been using the bore snake to clean mine, but you definitely need a rod for a more thorough cleaning.That sucker gets nasty!

    • @LeRoy313
      @LeRoy313 8 лет назад

      +CWB1863 I haven't found a way to get the cleaning rod through the barrel from the breach. I'm going to try flacousa62's recommendation, "insert the rod from the front and once you get it to the beach area then attach the brush and pull out". Seems like the way to go.

    • @captainjim6300
      @captainjim6300 4 года назад

      @@LeRoy313 I have a cable in my kit that you can screw any cleaning attachment even the brush and mop as well as attachments to use a cleaning patch as well and then pull it through. I think that would work well with this gun since you apparently cannot get the rod in the back end of the barrel.

    Hey, I recently bought the same Sr22. Nice vid. I HIGHLY recommend looking into the Tandem Kross magazine extension($15). It goes on the bottom of the mag and allows your magazine to hold 15 rounds and looks great. Additionally, I highly prefer getting the Tandem Kross "Game Changer" suppressor ($30) for the threaded barrel. As you mentioned, it is only a .22lr but it looks cool in my opinion. I am not affiliated with Tandem Kross but thry have cool stuff.

    I like to take and old tooth brush and scrub the sides near the battery there is alot of build up in that area especially in the spot where the firing pin comes out and the extractor then when I get all the solvent get whipped out a small amount of oil down the little holes the extractor then a paste titanium gel I got at the gun store and place it on a qutipe and run it down the rails on the slide and the frame once it's back together irack it a few times to spread everything out and about every fifth or sixth time I get my Drexel tool and some polishing wheels then a little ruge and go over the ramp that brings the round up to the barrel

      NEVER EVER clean front to back. If a rod can't be inserted from the rear, use a bore snake or follow your suggestion of attaching things to cleaning rod after it is over the magazine well - then pull back through! Good effort on this video!

      PostmasterPrepper When you ran a screw driver though the upper receiver - ouch , use a tooth brush to loosen powder residue in both upper and lower receiver, then wipe with wet 2x2. dont forget to oil recoil spring, rod, and barrel, gives you a smooth recoil, side rails as well. I never use my copper brushes unless powder residue is caked on, use wet 1x1 and as you've been told already bring that hammer down when mounting the upper receiver. Good choice on pistol , have fun.

    • @PostmasterPrepper
