This thing is a tac driver. Honestly one of the most accurate 22 I've ever shot. Very impressive grouping. Using cci mini mags, performed flawless. Excellent work on this pistol
Ive clocked 6000 rounds thro mine no issues rugers customer service is still old school they take awsome care of there people anyone who says otherwise has never called them!!!
It’s nice to see a video for Ruger from Ruger. I was a little uneasy just watching some guy (the other videos) who was willing to make a video not knowing their experience.
What a fantastic .22! This gun has become my favorite! The functionality is top notch and the accuracy is spot on! Comfortable to shoot and the sights are easy to use. This is the best Ruger since the 10-22.
@@jdontcare8520I have one of the first GP-100’s. 4” bbl, stainless, adjustable rear sights, And it is very very accurate. I think I got it in 1986 but can’t remember. Great comment
Just bought one and I love it only one thing why not have a captured spring it's so much easier other than that I give it a 99.9 Thank you my 2nd Ruger .
YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED WITH what I’m about to tell you: Five days ago I got this gun on a trade because the gun was slowly feeding, “shooting all over the place” and the magazine would sometimes fall off while shooting. I looked at the gun and I immediately knew why, so I asked the man 3 simple questions: when did you buy it? How many rounds have you put through it? How often did you clean it? His answers: “a few years ago and I shot it over 10,000 rounds... and I never cleaned it because I don’t know how.” I took it all apart, the barrel was oval, with 82grns of lead buildup. Yes, I actually weighed it because when I looked in the barrel, the riffling was covered in lead for about 3” out of the 3.5” BTW, if my name sounds familiar, I was always picking up guns for the shop at your Wayne facility on Rt 23 in NJ. I’m now in AZ. since 2001... Small world. I need a barrel kit for this, when will you have them in stock? I’m keeping the gun, I want the longer barrel. Thank you
Do you also have a similar video for your model 10/22? I recently got one and love it. It does, however, get extremely dirty. Obviously I can clean it, but I'm sure there's a "better way"! Thanks.
When you designed this gun wtf were you thinking with that magazine safety lever that seems to be a growing problem? Just got my new SR22c and it's already got problems based on a bad design. Yeah sure I can fix it but a brand new firearm that requires me to do repairs before I can fire a round?
@@gabydiy8716 The hammer needs to be fully to the rear (cocked) in order to smoothly bring the slide back and up. You my still feel some hammer resistance. When in the safe-position it makes this action very difficult both removing and reinstalling the slide.
Hey Ruger guy, trying to change out the clip bottoms of my 22 with the longer ones that come with the gun. The plastic projection on the lower spring follower will not engage the longer bottom plate. I have checked the hole for flash and the right size, what gives?
I want to know this as well. I've heard bad things about the trigger pull, and want to purchase one of these for my girlfriend. I've "heard" there is an easy fix, but would prefer to hear from the manufacturer what they recommend.
You may have to file away a little lip right at the end of the feed ramp left there from the machining process and making rounds get hanged up in it. ( I had to do it to mines; its a few tutorials on youtube ruclips.net/video/RNURdn0qe_g/видео.html after i did that mines eat anything. Another thing to check is that the recoil spring is inserted the right way like he showed with the big part touching the edge of the slide. But most problems is on the feed ramp. Hope it helps
Only the slide needs oil? Nope. The slide release gets jammed up with junk after 2 range trips. It will get to the point where you have to pull the slide back and release. 22 lr is dirty, very dirty.
HI DARREN I JUST BOUGHT THE SR22, WHY DID THEY CHEAP OUT ON THE RECOIL ROD, SHOULD BE STEEL NOT PLASTIC .......................... SAVED A NICKLE I GUESS, OTHER THAN THAT NOT A BAD LITTLE GUN
i bought a new ruger( my first gun) 2 months ago. took it to the range ... day one double feed , failure to eject. took it home cleaned tried new ammo cci . took it to range same issue . i am very disappointed with ruger . i think it is dangerous to shoot. the gunsmith sent it off for me , he said something is wrong with it. now i have no gun ., it has been 2 weeks now.
So I bought one of these... I own several Rugar's (6 to be exact), unfortunately this SR22 is a lemon (L E M O N)! I cant believe Rugar let a whole run of these get past QC? 1. The barrel is out of round (maybe too much feed rate when drilled) is my best guess... 2. The firing pin SUCKS, it's not the rounds, maybe a weak spring? maybe a malformed firing pin? Unlike Hickok45 and 22Plinkster, I am unafraid to speak bad about it... "What a piece of crap!"
sucks yours is bad, mine had 1 issue which Ruger promptly fixed (bent extractor) and otherwise has functioned flawlessly within the limits of 22lr ammo
You get what you pay for. Have some fun with this gun. There only a few hundred bucks. When it breaks down with wear see if you can trade it in and get some bucks for it towards something else.
what a piece of crap just bought one new it has never shot a round and it never will cuz it didn't work brand new won't fire a round SMH ruger I have lost respect and lowered my expectation for the Future weapon from ruger
why is the 'safety' on the sr~22 opposite to almost every other (Ruger) gun ever made? It is by far the best 22 pistol, with one real big training problem!?
robert h the safety also doubles as a decocker. I love the pistol so I gave it my adult daughter because she can rack it comfortably. I carry a p938 Sig 9mm or Colt 1911 10mm Both SAO. I looking to replace it with a SAO Colt 22LR so I’m not Training ‘backwards’. It’s a great gun but SR 22 but it’s just not going to work for what you want.

Thanks for the video.... I have two SR22s.... and even my daughter has her own. They work!

Better than the GP100? I would disagree. Awesome firearm though!

I love my SR22! It fits my hand like it grew there, no feeding problems. Hides well. My perfect "James Bond gun"!
I call mine a "Bond Gun" too. Goes from wetsuit to tuxedo simply by changing grips. LOL
Hey Ruger Guy Darren, THANK YOU!!!!! I love my SR22, best handgun ever...............
Bought one for my wife, (purple) a few Tandemkross upgrades and a CT laser. Never had one single issue, handy little pistol, accurate and fun.
thank you Ruger for the video. Helped a lot.
Its nice to see Gary Busey working again !
lol , yep .
Too funny!🤣
I thought I was the only one😂😂😂😂

I carry my .22 as my conceal carry, my Ruger 9mm sits in my truck, & my Ruger 10/22 Takedown sits near my back porch fully loaded.

I don't think that place in Wayne NJ is there anymore..... Bought a house in NC and got out of commie NJ. be well..
I like this gun!
Any tips or tricks for a bulged barrel?
I'd love to see an sr 380
Great video ty love the sr 22
Ruger ,, might want to get a little closer with the camera in the future.
Cheers 🍻

I was just wondering did you call the bomb squad 2 in case something blows up
Thanks Darren
Can you make a video for 10/22 tactical rifle 22 LR?
2:14 Air Duster in a can works great when there's no compressed air handy.
Why do I continue to have FTF's, or "light strikes" with differet .22 ammo? Love the gun though! Fantastic ergonomics! Accurate too!
do a video for the mk1 mk2 mk3 22. Many people get frustrated disassemble and reassemble.
Please redo with the camera much closer with the gun filling the frame.
@Officer Murphy wwaw
Hello when cleaning this gun ,is there any problem areas hat you should look out for
Thank you.

Only one point not mentioned here is to keep the SAFETY OFF, disengaged while disassembly and re-assembly.
Why? I just got one and I am curious

Huh I wonder if that's why I was having some trouble
NOTE
Take off grips before spraying solvent or they may become soft gummy or damaged

Mine has light primer strikes with each mag. Already been back for a safety recall.
Use NON-chlorinated degreaser/cleaner only!
This cleaning, lubing procedure works
Scratch my barrel putting my slide on real hard to get back on at first
Is there a way to lighten the trigger? I am having trouble pulling it.
I want to know this as well. I've heard bad things about the trigger pull, and want to purchase one of these for my girlfriend. I've "heard" there is an easy fix, but would prefer to hear from the manufacturer what they recommend.
AEtherimp I called the gun shop where I purchased it & they have a gun Smith that said he can lighten it for 80 bucks.
ya right??? bullshit
Good video

How do i get the guide rod spring out if its stuck.
Mine's a POS!! Just bought it and im stovepiping every available brand of 22lr.

It needs a metal take down lever.
I agree there needs to be a safety recall for the SR22 because of the plastic take down lever.
Only the slide needs oil? Nope. The slide release gets jammed up with junk after 2 range trips. It will get to the point where you have to pull the slide back and release. 22 lr is dirty, very dirty.
Where did you get that long bore cleaning tool?
this gun with higher mag capacity, come on , pls ^^
Here’s a tech tip for you, the safety is backwards
HI DARREN I JUST BOUGHT THE SR22, WHY DID THEY CHEAP OUT ON THE RECOIL ROD, SHOULD BE STEEL NOT PLASTIC .......................... SAVED A NICKLE I GUESS, OTHER THAN THAT NOT A BAD LITTLE GUN
Yeah, no solvent on the polymer ty.......
The camera is too far from the gun. Cannot see the detail as compared to other videos of same subject.
Gary Busey!

Maybe this should be titled takedown and cleaning not "tech tips"....just sayin
Awesome little gun, but why the heck did you have to make such a crappy trigger on an otherwise awesome gun.
My take down lever will not come down how do I fix that?
I used a flathead screwdriver because I have longer nails at the moment. I do wish it were metal to because I'm worried about damaging it
Why did you design the safety to operate backwards from every other gun? Geez
So I bought one of these... I own several Rugar's (6 to be exact), unfortunately this SR22 is a lemon (L E M O N)! I cant believe Rugar let a whole run of these get past QC?

The take down leaver broke , and very hard to talk to ruger...
mine came with a bent extractor, Ruger had me handled, fixed nd shooting in about 8 days total
You get what you pay for. Have some fun with this gun. There only a few hundred bucks. When it breaks down with wear see if you can trade it in and get some bucks for it towards something else.
Darren , will you marry me . 😂😂😛😛
it is a sr22
You unfortunately designed it with WAY to hard a trigger so now gotta spend money and time sending it out for a proper 2.5 pull very disappointing
what a piece of crap just bought one new it has never shot a round and it never will cuz it didn't work brand new won't fire a round SMH ruger I have lost respect and lowered my expectation for the Future weapon from ruger

Lucky Bass Turd. I have a problem with the backward safety also. It's a crazy setup and hard to operate.
actually it is the way it should be all the others are wrong
I have a Taurus pistol with a decocker and it still works like a safety should up safe down ready and push down again it's decocker
