    That model is famous for the condenser crack. Fixed dozens. O’rileys and all other part houses carry the aftermarket one that fixed the issue.

      I’ve been lucky this round, my condenser wasn’t the the issue, it was the ac compressor. It’s on the list of things to replace though… preventive maintenance 🤣

    2014 thru 2018 chevy vehicles with 5.3L engine has a condenser weld leak driver side top weld joint.You can aluminium weld it or replace the condensor.

    I had the same issue in my 2018 Silverado.This was a great video. But one thing, unless I missed the part that you retrofitted your system from 1234yf which is the new refrigerant that most 2014-2018 Silverado/Sierras use now. Maybe if you go back to 1234yf it will cool more. 1234yf uses less and cools to lower temps. And reminder different refrigerant than the one your compressor was intended for could result in inaccurate pressure and your unit might not work to its full capacity. Hello From Miami Dade county, I played with a few Tongans and Samoans from Hawaii. Back then (2004-2008) I had long hair and being Puerto Rican everywhere I went people asked if I was Tongan ( am 6,2" 296lbs) long curly hair back then. ALOHA MY islander brotha' 🇵🇷🤙🏾🤙🏾

      I didn’t retro-fit any valves… My truck takes R134a. So I’m good there. I have a leak in the condenser..that’s my next project video🤣🤙🏼

    Hello, after the evaporator core of my chevy Silverado 2015 was replaced, the evaporator is freezing up after 40-50 minute running in highway... I do not know how the compressor is controlled in this truck, it does not have a pressure cycling clutch, or a thermistor sensor in contact with expansion valve, there is an evaporator temperature sensor at the output side but not in contact, what would be going on?... thank you in advance!

    Change your condenser those trucks have defects in the condenser they break i guess they have a weak point and they leak

    Here's what I don't get and it is ME. I do not do this often. When hooked to the truck, under vacuum , I read vacuum, but it seems to be in the gage set only. Not in the car. With the gage set off the car, with quick disconnects open, the gage reads vacuum (this is ont the bench) Then when I unscrew the hose from the quick dis connect, vacuum goes away. It's as if the quick disconnect is not allowing vacuum to enter the car system. With the quick disconnect valce open (not on the car) I put it in a baggie and no vacuum. What am I doing wrong?

    • @hawaiianbrokechanic

      Do you the same manifold gauge that I use in the video?

    • @hawaiianbrokechanic
      @hawaiianbrokechanic  11 месяцев назад

      Do you mean the gauges show you’ve lost vacuum? If you’ve closed the valve at the the high or low ac ports in your car, the hose and manifold will hold vacuum after you disconnect the lines IF YOU HAVE YOUR MANIFOLD GAUGES VALVES CLOSED AS WELL…. If air is getting into your system, then you may have a leaking schrader valve… let me know how it goes!

  • @k.lamareyev4418

    You put in too much oil and not enough refrigerant. Increased oil can damage your compressor.

    • @hawaiianbrokechanic
      @hawaiianbrokechanic  4 месяца назад

      You’re absolutely right that too much oil can damage my AC compressor. The average amount of pag oil in a 12oz can is around .7 ounces of pag oil. I failed to mention in the video the low side service port was leaking refrigerant and oil. I more than likely lost more that .7 ounces of pag oil. I made a video replacing low side hose showing the leaking port. Thanks for pointing that out, I will add a disclaimer to video as soon as I can🤙🏼

    • @k.lamareyev4418
      @k.lamareyev4418 4 месяца назад

      @@hawaiianbrokechanicno problem. I don't remember but I believe that particular can has 1oz of pag oil, 1oz of ice32 and 10.5oz of refrigerant. I could be wrong though. With that said unless your compressor was leaking or replaced you couldn't have lost more than 1/5th of a oz of oil through the service port. No disclaimers are need. Keep making great content!!
