    Thanks. I haven’t used a rotary cutter before and your advice and tips is appreciated. That sure seems better than using shears.

    Thank you again for sharing, needed a refresher course. Have not done quilting since my husband died of Cancer in 2015. Back in my stash and making some memory quilts. I seem to have forgotten everything I knew about quilting. Your tutorials have motivated me to finish the projects.

    thank you for this really good video. A tip for the ruler: I place a heavy weight on the end of it to keep it in place.

    Thank you for your lesson. Nearly skipped past it but I am glad I didn’t. I didn’t know how little I knew on the topic. No one has ever shown me what to do. I just had a go the best way I could. Now I feel empowered to work confidently following your detailed instructions. Cheers!

    Thank you SO very much for this! I’ve been using mine for too long without really knowing how to do things properly. I always just winged it, lol. (I’m the only person who sews in my family. 😆) I’m so glad RUclips sent me here by suggestion! Thank you!

    I had trouble with my ruler shifting, and now that you have shown me how to keep one finger off of the mat and keep the thumb in place until you have moved your other three fingers up and then moving the thumb while keeping the three fingers in place I think my problem will be solved. I used to put my cutting mat on the floor and hold down the ruler with one knee and one hand. Now I can cut on my cutting table. It was wonderful information.

    Excellent. I learnt a lot. I’m quite good at sewing but I find cutting v tricky. Also thanks for speaking slowly and clearly. Sometimes I can’t follow some of the American regional accents! Especially when it is so fast.

    You gave us some valuable information on cutting fabric and I have one of the rotary cutters and is waiting to use it since there are other tools I need, but could not find locally and have to order. I am a beginner to sewing and learning how to do the different tasks I need for quilting since I have plenty of blocks which my grandmother left when she passed away years ago and my mother didn't quilt and only used her machine to make dresses for her and my sisters.

    I use a "T" square from drafting for my straight edge. Top "T" goes on the top of the mat. Can't miss. Really helped me make long straight cuts. I do appreciate your clear instruction on the cutter...the are very dangerous devices. I fear dropping one..ugh. Thanks again.

    Should the blade rotate as you cut , mine came screwed up tightly ! , i guess it should move , if so how loose should the blade be ? , thanking you in anticipation .........Robert .

    Lots of great info.. But one thing she did at about 4:30 min that was a major safety issue... .. Was sweep her hair back off the side of her face with her rotary cutter NOT locked & in her hand.. Know of a lady who did that & slashed her face...

    • @oldtimerlee8820
      @oldtimerlee8820 6 лет назад +1

      Noticed the same thing. Yes, I know it was an automatic reflex action. Yet it was scary to see it happen. That open blade so near her face, moving in that manner.

      Her rotary cutter is one that the blade comes out only when the handle is squeezed at no time was she squeezing.

    Wouldn't it be easier for rt-handers to place the bulk of material to their left for better control on the amount of pressure you apply to hold the material in place while you make your cuts?
