@@fishingmadthe Shimano expire is probably out of my budget. Is the zodias a good rod for estuary fish like flathead and bream and also sometimes bass. Thanks.
Very informative content both on the video and in the comments bravo Alan, like many others I’m at a cross road and have purchasing decisions to make, Do I go a Vanford 2500 and Zodius 7ft 2-4 kg or step it up the combo your using? Using it for land based plastics and inshore fishing. Currently running a Sedona 2500fd on a sonic, served me well but it’s time to upgrade! Any response Appreciated
Thank you for you positive comments. There are many good options for land base fishing and yes a Vanford Zodias combo would be great. To be honest the Zodias/Vanford combo is much better value for money than the TCurve/Sustain. You will notice some different but not enough to justify the cost increase. Other great options for land based stuff too. I recently bought a Daiwa TD Commander which is also excellent for that style of fishing.
Got the tcurve awesome rod, have fished my best on this outfit. I noticed a little slot under the blue reel seat nut that can act as a hook keeper! Not sure if this is a designed feature.
There exactly the same just a deeper spool. So if you think you need more fishing line to tangle with some bigger fish that may pull extra line then go the 3000. For all your bread and butter species 2500 is perfect
Alan could I ask for a bit of advice please. I have shimano stradic reels and I am curious to know if I should keep the drag fibre discs “ dry or well oiled” to provide the most effective drag systems. Thanks very much, really enjoy your work. Geoff.
Hi, I watched your tp FD reviews, sustain vs TwinPower FD, how are they different in your opinion, and do you think the tp is worth the price compared to the sustain?
Both a really nice reels. The TP FD is one of my favourites. Its just smoother then the Sustain, and it looks so nice. My advice is see if you can pickup a TP on sale somewhere I picked mine up a while back now for much cheaper then the usual RRP through a sale.
Just a bit more pulling power in the butt section so if you do happen to tangle with a slightly bigger fish you have a better chance of landing it. The premiums are very light so the 2-5kg doesnt feel any heavier in the hand
@@fishingmad no worries got 3-6 kg for that have caught jews in the cove with the 2-4 kg rods. The new expride medium power rod is nice, power of 3-6 kg but feels a way lighter rod in hand perfect for big plastics and vibes 3000 reel for large reds.
Great stuff, I now own 2 of these rods a 2-5kg and a 4-8kg. They are a bit pricey but if you love your gear it definitely does feel premium in the hand. Which model are you using?
Some exciting catches. That’s a nice looking rod. I’m from Ohio in US. So Shimano does not offer that model. The blue would match up with the SLX line of bait caster reels. We do have the 2022 Shimano Expride line up though but no 2 pc is offered here. Always fascinating to see your fishing style and gear. Tried so many of your salt water rigs for my freshwater small mouth bass. Yep scale it down and they work great! Thanks
Thanks David that's awesome and glad the content is helping. On the Bass too !! Its fascinating how certain models of rods are only sold in certain countries.
I'm a massive fan of the Twin Powers FD and XD reels. If you can buy them on special around the same price as a Sustain than that's the way to go 100%. The sustains have really surprised me I like them more than what I though I would. I just bought a sustain 5000 compact and there bloody awesome.
Vanford is better value for money. The Sustains do feel a bit more solid, I have the sustain in a 5000 and its great but I think the Vanford and Strdics are better value
I have that exact rod spec and it's growing on me a lot, it's a perfect balance of versatility and sensitivity. Recently I hooked an arrow squid on a plastic with over 30m of line out and the pulses through the T curve were unmistakable. I really need to put some more miles on it but I've gotten some bloody nice toys lately and not enough time to use all of them!!
Nice review of the t curve. Just wondering what you think of the sustain. Bearing in mind the extra cost over a vanford. Are the upgrades worth it and do you notice the extra 30 grams in weight?
Hi David, Honestly I think the Vanford is better value for money. I like the Sustain it feels a tad more solid, refined an d sturdy then the vanford. But personally id go a vanford and if wanting something better look at the twin power FD which is amazing.
The Zodias is a good recommendation for a more affordable alternative, I would recommend that rod over the T curve for chasing big reds and Mulloway with plastics.
Good session! What would you recommend the zodias or that tcurve.
Thanks, In recent weeks I've been using the new Expride and really like that better than the Tcurve prem and Zodias.
Alright 👍 thanks

I've seen that combo in my boat a few times mate. Can confirm it is a thing of beauty.

Nice video Alan as usual and beautiful set up for sure. Hope to see you soon 😃 💪 🤙 🤗
Thanks Mario !!
At that price point I think the Daiwa Commander rods are much better option. Great video again Alan.
The Commanders are great rods.
They are actually under $400.

Awesome video Alan 👌🏼 those T-curve rods feel beautiful. Held one at Hooked On. They are insanely light it’s pretty cool.
Thanks 👍 Yeah they sure are nice rods, Pretty sure I got both my T-Curve rods from Hooked On,
I get most of my rods from Hooked on to. Pretty much all of them actually. His got a good setup and heaps to pick from.

Bought the same sustain FJ just over a month ago. Really been enjoying it
That's awesome, yeah they are really nice reels.
Would you say it’s versatile enough for salt water and fresh water fishing?
@@NanceLvr as long as your cleaning it everytime you get home for sure. I use it on the ledge for squid and other things
Do u know whether T curve premium has the titanium fuji guides or just stainless steel
Yep X5 blank and Fuji SiC K guides
Like and subscribed! What model hobie is that?
Awesome, its a Hobie Pro Angler 14. Amazing Yak
I have those rod keepers on all my plastic and squid combos! Saves nicking your guides
Yep and avoids the temptation of using the guides to hold the jighead which is just so easy to do without one.
Is a rod keeper just somewhere to attach your hook to?
Yes thats exactly right. Helps to stop you from using the guides of the rod.
@@fishingmad oh yeah sweet, cheers
