Some of the keys should just be super quiet so that you expect every key to be super loud, but in actuality it's a 50/50 percent chance of being super loud or soft

I wanted to see her put some tiny beads or something inside to rattle around in all that space. Don’t know if that would have affected it’s functionality, but that’s where my mind went.
That would probably work considering she made it so that the keyboard would wobble when typing so it woudl become a rattle.
but wasn't one of the rules you could only use keyboard stuff? I don't think beads are in keyboards

and even if she couldn’t use beads, the leftover screws would work just the same

@@justpeachy6450 it’s just how I type. I have to physically work against myself in order to press the keys lightly. Plus, I’ve got solid switches, so they can stand up to the force quite well.

I think you should have added two screws of unequal sizes to make the official kickstand for Cherry Blue users everywhere.
As a person with autism and someone who tends to stim a lot, loud clicky keyboards are my favorite thing ever. Like i will sit with my wireless "typewriter" blue switch keyboard and just clicky clicky while i read. Such bliss. I love this keyboard noise tbh.

Honestly, still quieter than my razer keyboard with razer green switches.

I have an old Deck Hassium with cherry blues, and a Razer Blackwidow X Chroma with their greens.. both seem louder than this (apart from the entire deck smacking around of course :P )
Recently though I downsized to a Tecware Phantom L (low profile) with short throw outemu reds, and while it's not lubed or even especially quiet it's soooo much nicer to live with and type on.

I honestly like the sound, I always loved the typewriter style.
Just bought two Logitech Pop Keys keyboard, love it so far though wish it was a larger keyboard, but I manage.
I’m old, so maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I feel like that still wasn’t as loud as the old IBM PS/2 keyboards.
Yeah, those were loud bois. Modern clicky switches don't have the body, the true THACK that buckling springs have. They're high pitched and shrill. We need something moar powerful.
I know! That's all I could think of. Especially since I worked right next to someone who still uses one of those.
They were loud, but relatively low pitch and way less annoying than MX style clickies, with their ear piercing click jackets.

The most common keyboard when I was born was the dell mechanical office keyboards lol and the Mac membrane keyboard with the wired mouse

Good call on the type writer style. My first mech was a Royal Kludge S108. Came with those caps and cherry blues. The chrome border will fall off after a few months of use of normal typing, I can't imagine how much faster it would be with a heavy typist. Mech 2 I'm still working on but I believe one of two final pieces are sitting at my PO box waiting for me to pick up. Then all I gotta do is find some switches.

Should've just bought an old keyboard with a solenoid. That thing literally slams a bit of metal into the keyboard every time you press a key.
There are people modding their New Model F F77s with solenoids. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Or use an actual Victorian-age typewriter like I have as part of my typewriter collection. Nothing but metal parts all the way, lots of noise from the keys to the hammer strikes and even a bell and loud-ass ratchet system for the "return" key.... NEXT LINE PLEASE!!
Wonder how hard it would be to alter it so instead of hitting an ink ribbon and then paper when you press a key the hammers instead close a contact (possibly a metal one for even more noise?!) that the computer would see as just a "normal" keyboard press????

The good old IBM 5251. It fits both criteria too, the noise is from the keyboard itself and its over a $1000.

I had an old brown switch keyboard from E-Yooso brand, and I think it was 10x louder than the one you specifically made to be loud

Even though it would’ve been against your rules, this makes me want to program macros onto every key of a keyboard to play bizarre sound effects. One would definitely need to be Spongebob laughing for way too long. The mute and volume down keys would, of course, have to make it louder. Given that an alarming number of people evidently don’t even know how to turn off a webcam, it could really cause some chaotic fun in the right hands. 😬
& on that note, I know it’s time to go to sleep when we start crossing the line from chaotic neutral into chaotic evil. 😳

put a small speaker in your keyboard and put piezo pickups in your kayboard. have the echo captured by the piezos and them output by the keyboard's speaker.
This is how acoustic guitars that plug in work.
Alot of whats done here explains why my macintosh plus keyboard (a linear mechanical keyboard) is so loud. A large hollow plastic body with nice flat steel plate/pcb. Wide opening at the top of the switch. It doesn't help that its basically had no maintenance since it was manufactured in the 80s (im not going to do anything to switches that still work that i cannot replace easily due to scarcity)

I feel like I unintentionally made a louder keyboard by taking an old EVGA Z15 and pulled the Kailh Silver Switches and replacing them with Kailh Bronze Switches and then putting on those typewriter keycaps, LOL. That thing is loud!

I love the amount of loud noises old tech made. Clicky keyboards, spinning parts, hearing a computer thinking, binary screeching when a machine was malfunctioning or communicating with another machine... I just barely missed that era and I miss what little of it I remember. I so desperately want tech with modern capabilities and the old sounds and sturdiness.

actually since there is no requirement for the keys to be typed as well, you could find oversized fittings that would squeak at every friction per input, like an old squeaky chair. put in a larger spring for it to revert.
As a person who plays a lot of rhythm games I would love to have a keyboard this loud. I don't understand why people don't like them.

Betty has had at least one vid with some serious talk. She showed incredible steadiness and restraint. Seeing that video, she really earned my respect and admiration.
It can be difficult interfacing with some of the dreadful toxicity when stepping out to build something like she has on the internet. People hide behind fake identies and try to deconstruct with harshness. She calmly addressed it with directness and clarity. I, for one, am glad she did and very glad I saw that video. She really set a good example I won't soon forget.
I hope you read this, Betty. You deserve a pat on the back for your approach and everything you have accomplished.
