I remember the night that performance was broadcast as if it were yesterday. It was my first encounter with Killing Joke's music and I became rather obsessed right away, wanting EVERYONE I knew to listen to them. That night, I really wished they would never stop. Well, it took them thirty years but unfortunately, here we are...
So lucky, at 14 y/o, to pick up this album and have good memories of it playing in the background while playing DOOM in DOS all summer long that year. Jawbreaker, Jawbox, Helmet and Prong among many others also had incredible albums that year. I don't think music has been as healthy and whole in total since then. It was absolutely the peak of sound in my early listening career by far. Music was good everywhere you looked for it then. Nowadays Autotune and Soundcloud rappers have really rotted its bloated corpse to the poiint of bursting. Kids don't know how good it was what they've missed in that time.
wanna know what grinds my gears...? how Jaz Coleman is never included on the " Godfathers of Extreme Vocals" conversations... he is, to my knowledge, one of, if not the very first to bring, what is now called " false chord" screams into the mainstream rock consciousness

@@pascalburger7379 C' etait un des avantages qu' avait cette émission de Nulle Part Ailleurs, c'est qu' elle faisait venir des groupes de musique chanter en direct. Ces groupes étaient en général assez "underground " et intéressants à écouter comme The Driven , GusGus , Killing Joke et bien d' autres. Je trouvais cette programmation musicale intelligente et à l' opposé de ce qu ' on pouvait écouter sur des radios commerciales comme Nrj ou Skyrock . L' émission NPA enregistrait un record d' audience au moment des "Guignols " qui étaient très appréciés par les téléspectateurs car ils étaient satiriques mais représentaient l' actualité avec justesse. Maintenant aucune émission de TV n" est comparable à NPA. Tu vois des bouffonneries comme l' émission d' Hanouna et pas grand choses d' autres. Bref on est tombé bien bas. Merci à toi de nous faire revivre ces bons moments de Canal +.

Je me souviens à la fin du live de Killing Joke sur NPA de la réaction de Michel Boujenah qui était l'invité, lui le très émotif ou hyper sensible, était complètement tétanisé par ce qu'il venait d'entendre, sa réaction était très drôle.

J'ai travaillé 30 ans à canal plus et ce jour là je travaillais sur l' émission en tant qu'éclairagiste...quand Killing Joke est arrivé sur le plateau pour les répétitions à 14h...je rentre sur le plateau et là devant moi Jazz mon héros depuis 1980...et vous savez quoi sans savoir quoi il me prend dans ses bras et me sert très fort en me disant un truc incompréhensible...Je me rappelle il avait une chemise blanche....Puis il a rigolé et il est monté sur scène...j' étais abasourdi moi le fan dingue de la 1er heure qui avait dessiné la fameuse pochette du 1er 45 ep sur les cotés de ma Peugeot , celle avec Fred Astaire... qui danse sur les ruines du monde..les flics n'aimaient pas du tout...!!! Ensuite j'ai passé du temps en loge avec eux tous super sympa...bien sur ils m'ont signé toute ma collection et j' ai encore eu le droit à un câlin de Jazz....Souvenir impérissable à vie...!!!...!!!

D’abord comme opérateur magneto (1 am) et ensuite le reste de ma carrière au département des transmissions. J’ai vraiment eu de belles années à travailler pour cette chaîne. Maintenant je vis en Australie, et je travaille pour une université! Gros changement de décor en comparaison à Paris et Canal+ 😀
This Song has a heavy metal riff, its better sound, when it's played by a les paul. The les Paul has a greater output, cause of humbuckers pickups. The ES 295 has only P90 single coil pickups, it's better for brilliant treble sound. That's my thoughts.
@@TheJoker-ft4yy But he played an ES295 on all the other live performances of the song that I’ve seen. Youth also isn’t playing his usual Rickenbacker so maybe they borrowed instruments for this??
They were promoting the album... In such cases, sometimes you have to do so many short performances in so many different places that you can't always travel with your own gear, so you give a tech list to the production and they find whatever is the closest thing to what you need. He might have had this guitar on rent for several shows, or just lent by the production for the night. It would be difficult to know more after all these years, unfortunately.
