Sunderland Fans Loudest Singing

- A few clips I found on an old VHS video, 1985 Milk Cup final, we had 50,000 in our end and probably about 20,000 in the Norwich end, the noise was amazing. It's the loudest I have ever witnessed personally.
I was there a few weeks back to finally see Sunderland win at Wembley. Beating Wycombe was my ninth attempted at seeing Sunderland at Wembley, without walking out feeling despondent and going over RUclips, hoping I could find a different result. There were fellas with tears in their eyes when Ross Stewart scored the second. It`s been a long time coming and pleasing to see all the youngsters at Wembley supporting Sunderland. Let`s hope it`s not another 49 year wait for success at the home of English Football. Red and white army.
People underestimate just how loyal the Sunderland fans are. This tape proves that we are loyal and we are proud to chant fir Sunderland. Ha'way the lads!
+Brandon Plays FTM haway the lads
Brandon Plays ahhh aye, Sunderland fans are really loyal. They only LEAVE 20,000 untaken every week! SAD MACKEM BASTARD
+wilfed marley ooh you're hard. Have a day off you melt.
I’m a chelsea fan but last night (Tuesday) they took 2,000 to Bolton in the worst part in the history for a very long time.
Bairdzy FC you could say the same with Newcastle the difference is that we will fill if we were in the Premier League also 30,000 isn’t bad for league one
Not going to lie. Absolutely brilliant supporters.
From a Mag
Mate, all North East teams have unreal support. As much as I don't wanna give you mags anything. 😂
Thanks mate, i am 66, my best mates are all mags, i was with them in 1974 when you came home after the FA cup v Liverpool, i was with them against Bohemioms in Dublin, when the Leases end roof got pulled down, so mutual coal miner respect
64 grand for winning the cup, how times have changed, lol.
You get half of that for winning the first round 😂
I was born in this year, what a day it must have bin being amongst those fans, never changed, louder than ever
I was at the Milk Cup Final, sitting with the Norwich fans. Two things stick in my mind: at halftime an older Canaries fan next to me said that the first half had been really exciting; I remember saying something like, you must have had a bloody awful season! And secondly on the way back up north a young lad in red and white was sobbing his eyes out on his Dad's shoulder, another Sunderland fan said to the lad that he would have to get used to days like this if he was going to grow up a fan of the Black Cats. It was also a bloody awful game, and we missed Shaun Elliott badly at the back.
Carl Taylor I'm not a Sunderland fan. But I always have a soft spot for Sunderland (I'm a Sheffield United fan)
we shared beers we bought at the off licence with them before the game....we are passionate and respectfull of all footy fans whatever level
From a Norwich supporter - Fantastic video! Obviously a massive day for us. Big respect to the Sunderland fans who shook the Norwich players hands after the game.Good luck this season - O'Neil was brilliant as player and manager for Norwich. Hope we both stay in the Premier league!
Thanks so much. Great footage. Gates. Marco. Gordon. Gary. ❤
amazing footage, by that brought back memories, your right when you say your hairs on your next stand up, it did for me even after all this time i remember the feeling I got, fantastic , Cheers The Makem Folk SInger
Thanks mate You enjoy the rest of your season to.
Great memories and footage, the start of many Wembley disappointments for me but what a run to get there, Watford away (favourite ever away game), Chelsea semi final at Roker Park (favourite ever game), and then Wembley. That was me with the air horn as the cameras get close up on Ian Wallace pre game, i was only 16 at the time.
I was at that Cup Final, aged 12yrs. My Dad managed to get us tickets but in the Norwich end. I remember being really gutted about being in that end as we walked up Wembley Way....but when we got in Sunderland fans had pretty much the whole bottom terrace of their end!
Losing to shite goal and missing a penalty was stereotypical SAFC - and singing so loud that the Norwich fans couldn't be heard when they lifted the cup is also pure SAFC .
7 Wembley trips later I finally saw us win, sadly not with my Dad but with my 2 sons. Best day of our lives. HTL
What great support we have, in recent days the years of damaging ownership by ellis short after keano and quinny has came to a head.
Class mate!I've still got that Northampton news item on a tape in the loft somewhwere. The bloke sounds like bloody Max Headroom on your tape :)
Roker Park was a proper stadium not like the bloody boxes we’ve got now and I don’t even support Sunderland but I’ll watch proper football of any team i.e before sky took over and made it shit!!
mw92 they’re an absolute joke.
@Mackftm it was "hylton castle can you hear us on the box"
Was there that day never heard noise like it and never will again best fans in the world for pure noise levels
Great memories! I wasn't t the Norwich game, too young but i remember the Northanpton game well eventhough I was only 9, stood in the main stand paddock with my dad.The good all days. Just not the same now!
Roker roar
Hey , thanks for posting, my thrid season as a Sunderland supporter this one. Didn't realise how dismal the Mackemenemy era was (too young and no context), but this season made sure I would be Sunderland 'til I died (or had a major stroke). Biggest crowd in NE that season! Yeah mags we remeber your shameful past before you were sold a metrocentric pile of lies.
i was there, had 3 days on the drink so dont remember much.
Pure chills, hairs on my neck stand on end listening to that
I watch this and look at where we’re at now and it’s sad really
Brillant coverage, cheers Dave TMFS
Thanks for this. Absolutely awesome stuff.
2:53 I think it was the biggest crowd in the region this season
True Story, I was in the back of the Fullwell with my Mag mate, who LITERALLY couldn't bear the noise we were making as it was "so loud" and he couldn't hear himself think and had to go to the front ha ha.
great videos mate ..wish someone had the highlights of sunderlands win over chelsea at roker park 1992 fa cup win when gorden armstrong got that last minuet winner to send roker park wild ,,,,,,,,
God bless you for posting. Mackemenemy first season in charge was my first one as a proper Sunderland fan (got my first job to pay for my tickets). Nothing beats being 16 and going to the matchs with your mates. This took me right back.
It was the freindly final, got a lot of time for Norwich fans, canny lads.
i was there, remember travelling down in the boot of a ford sierra with another lad, his dad was driving, also remember 'the sun' centre page pullout we stuck on the side window of the car, saying 'black cats eat yellow canaries'
well that didnt happen lol!!
Brilliant! Thanks for this.
brings back memories
Class support always sunlun 👏👏👏
@sgeour very true sir!!! we've suffered enough and been through more ups-and downs than a new york elevator, but i don't care if we've not got the ronaldo's, or messi's or rooney's i'll wear my red and white shirt and support them with all my heart til the day i die
Love the sopport but more importantly i love the fact that my nanna was in the last clip haha
1:50 "That's real support for you"
Tear in my eye every time stid
The highlight of your season & you still sing & chant the nane of the TOON, all 70,000 of you ha ha & 29,000 to welcome the team back, cos they got in for nowt
This is fantastic , no other football club on the planet comes near , the greatest club ever.
3:32 the woman on the right is my auntie flory
How is she doing nowadays?
Was there..First time I cried at a game..Apart from Wembley a month ago..However, that was happy tears….
makes the hairs on my neck stand up even just watching it.would of loved 2 be there
Aye they don't say much about Sunderland's unbroken 57 seasons in the top flight.
But like you say that was before football was invented in 1992 like!
yes i was there 1985 i see dave watson lift that milk cup
there were norwich everywhere
Remember the day well. Absolutely deafening 🙂
TRFC. I was there with my Canary mate. Brilliant day. Sunderland class all day
He really wanted to hammer home that point about the biggest crowd.
Amazing Mac fans from Blades fan👊
If I the Sunderland fans r so loyal ? ? ? How is it u can’t fill youre ground ? ? ? When the toon army were second bottom last season we still filled our ground ? That’s loyalty ! N u f c for life !
It was kind of Norwich to give their allocation to Sunderland to make up the 70,000.
@MrKarlxd that 6000 attended game was on facup final day you know....
until hall came along with his jardee neeshiyan crap, newcastles support wasnt a patch on sunderlands.
Smb the worst team in PL history fact they 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩SMB
Great memories
some strange comments on attendances on here, I remeber the eighties and all the northeast clubs were lucky to get 20000 people on a good match day you had to play man u or liverpool or a derby game to sell out .
check the history books
HAHAHA thats quality... surely you did 'the biggest crowd in the region' bit on purpose tho?
that is stunning,
i credit SAFC
i like em :)
who were the other team?
hair on the back of my neck stood up. only 19 so never got to see anything like this.
FTM!! THE BIGGEST CROWD IN THE REGION THIS SEASON
Does anyone know what the second song is? Can't make the words out!! Much appreciated.
i was at this match. at the back of sunderland end. we were disappointing. i could sense walker was going to miss penalty.
with all respect norwich fan, sunderland were all over. we had approx a third of your end, aswell as all ours. that is a fact. didnt help us like :(
I was there . Norwich end, by the corner flag that cost us the goal. Good crack though
I, too, just made it in so was surrounded by Norwich fans. The football wasn't great but everyone around us really enjoyed the entertainment from Sunderland fans we could see all around the ground.
I remember the loudest cheer seemed to be at the end when Norwich did their lap of honour.
"There's only one Gary Rowell, one Gary Rowell".
The former Sunderland favourite was a sub for Norwich. That was a cruel taunt by Sunderland fans in response to their teams dreadful performance.
"thats real support for you" ;)
I was there. Gives me goosebumps. Duffy Seaham boys. FTM.
football changes but sunderland fans dont-there to the end to accept defeat and applaud the winners-true fans
SAFC Travelled down to the stadium many times to see them play AMAZING atmosphere
I was there, a great day but a shame we never won.
What a cracking weekend that was apart from the result keep the faith ftm
Derby fan was there when Sunderland got beat 6 nil at the baseball ground still one of the loudest fans I've ever heard there ❤
on the ball city
1.0
easy easy easy
70,000 my arse norwich had 50,000
sunderland had a third of the norwich end...approx. FACT. i was there
You had one small section of the bottom terrace tier, not a third. And there were plenty of Norwich up your end too. Fact.
@@viewfromtheeast perception vs reality
I was there, Haway the Lads, haway, haway, haway !!!!!!
can someone tell me where the loudest sunderland fans are in the stadium of light? at which stand?
i'm from holland maybe wanna go there sometime.
greetings,
ps. remember the name luis suarez, he's gonna be one of the best attackers in the world very soon, if he's not already right now.
HA'WAY SUNDERLAND! LETS GET TO WEMBLEY!
Ha'way the lads tmorrow make it 7 in a row!!!!
@MMAC0RE What make u the biggest team in the north east ?????
So being a mag and watching Sunderland related stuff isn't sad? Mug!
Couldn't tell there was a Norwich half of the ground LOL
Class. Thats real support. Get in.
HAAAWWWAYYYYY THE LADS
That was a class season but fcking hell. Should never have happened
I was there and about all I can remember is how pathetic we were.
How old were you
whats that 2nd song they are singing, it sounds like their saying.... can u here us from the north
eric gates from ferryhill. i grew up there ;)
I bloody love Sunderland! Class video mate!
"Estimates put 70,000 Sunderland fans at Wembley for the 1985 Milk Cup Final"...
Utter bollocks.
Norwich sold their full 40,000 allocation for the Final so unless you're saying the official attendance was 110,000 (which it clearly wasn't) then you're talking out of your arse.
Yes you outsung us that day, but don't exaggerate the numbers because there's no way Sunderland had 70,000 there.
Sunderland v Norwich 50 50 Norwich had half Sunderland v Charlton different story
Dont worry about a thing cos sunderland afc are gonna be alright !
Fans turned up.Team didnt.
buy the way cracking video thanks
haway the lads top half of the table this season
@geordielegend9 oh sunderlands record attendance is higher, they also have the highest attendance for a tyne and wear derby. if hall and keegan hadnt come along in the early 90s giving newcastle all that "success" then the all time averages wouldve been very very close indeed. and as for the free tickets, they were given to schoolkids, usually for a tuesday night game against uninspiring opposition. you guys give freebies to smackheads for even the biggest games.
NEWCASTLE NEWCASTLE CAN YOU HERE US ON THE BOX
Never that many 50 50
I was there, had a reet fucking headache lol
ooooh the other team was Norwich.... wow they werre quite for cup winners :P
yanar that 60,000 pound you got u will properly spend it on a new Council estate
Yep mate - sadly my memory of the Milk Cup final was being attacked by some cockney dickheads wearing yellow and green scarves and helping my father and some other pensioners hide from flying bottles and bricks.
There was very little "Let's be 'avin you" from the other end of the ground.
Good post, bud!
class
Aye you're right Marra
