This makes me cry everytime I watch it. Especially the mum hugging her little lad "weve won the cup" Sheer joy and ecstacy from a time when winning the FA vup really did mean something to the averag football fan.
I watched this on TV back in 1973 , watched Sunderland 6 times at Wembley losing every time but today I fulfilled a lifetime wish to watch us win at Wembley and I was there . Sunderland 2.0 Wycombe.
Fantastic! I was 8 at the time but remember it vividly. Red and white everywhere. It can never happen again because the FA cup is not as important as in them days. Bobby Kerr brought the cup to our school and supposedly dropped it down the stairs. It was fixed by a local jewellers free of charge for the privilege. No thugs and hoodies roaming the town centre then.
Just found this on the Internet . The lasses watching the Cup Final one of them was called Jean had the Pie Shop opposite the football ground I used live in Dukes St North and used to go into that pie shop Great Pies
i got to touch the real replica at my school a few days ago. these highlights flashed through my mind as i picked it up. when football was about supporting your own team rather than abusing other fans. and im only 13
@@darrensmith4279 wrong. Now how is this going to go? are you going to tell me I can't be from Sunderland because the commentators pronunciation is correct and then I'll have to tell you that you're completely wrong and it isn't correct ? Is that what's going to happen? maybe we can just assume it's already happened and then we don't have to actually go through it. What do you think?
This is what football was all about, not any more, true passion/love for the game,l am an evertonian l remember this very well l along with most of the country was so happy for sunderland and their fans absolutely brilliant that was a really good sunderland team plus they have great fans something that will never ever happen again as trillionaires city could put out their reserves and win the now diluted f.a.cup.l stopped watching the cup final years ago as its that crap/boring.
Love this. I remember Sunderland coming to Maine road and drawing. 2 all. Went to the replay at roker and Sunderland hammered us 3/1. The atmosphere was something I will never forget. And since that day Sunderland always been my other team. 👍🏻
Football social history at its best. It does not get any better than that.

im a coventry city fan, and i know how these great fans feel as we were underdogs in 87, happy days when england was a happier and less violent place.
When England was England

Back when the FA Cup still mattered to anyone beyond the 2nd and 3rd Divisions.
It was even better than it looks in the film. The town was bouncing that night, never seen anything come close since.
The over 40s would have remembered the 1937 Cup final victory
Please god let me experience this at least once more in my life time!
