Chad, I have been misty-eyed since this video started, choked up by the wonderful childhood memories and the beginning of your life well-lived out in God's nature. With your awesome talent, you take us back to our own memories of family being present and together. I'm turning 80 on August 5th, 2023, and I don't know how long I will be around, but until the end of my life I will be forever grateful for your videos and wonderful adventures. I look forward to many more adventures through your eyes and lenses! Thank you and may God continue to bless you!
Stunning cinematography! Thank you Chad for allowing us a glimpse into some of your most cherished memories from your childhood and unforgettable times with your family! The nostalgia brings tears to my eyes.
Your dad would be proud of your unique ability to share through excellent cinematography all that he was doing while you were young. I believe he is a true American and enjoyed your freedom to explore with your family. You've come full circle now and he is surely looking down from heaven with that big smile on his face.
Chad, this is one of my favorite episodes you have put out. I love the reflection on the family life from your childhood. It definitely brings back a lot of my own memories. Keep them coming!! I love all your content.
I think the greatest gift dads ingrain in their children is an appreciation of the outdoors and the wanderlust. Your late father gets an A+ on both counts. ❤
Chad, this episode was deep. I'm 54, so when you show so many amazing photos from the 80s that have you enjoying God's creation with your family, I feel honored that you would invite us into your life. And the countless hours you spent perfecting this journey for us to enjoy is a testament to your love for your country and the people in it. Thank you.
Man..tear jerker. Headed back to New Mexico in my old Range Rover classic. Going to a cousins campout. Laid my brother and my dad to rest 6 months apart there in New Mexico..the memories are good though..bitter sweet. Chad, thanks for sharing.
Well spoken documentary! I'm 58 now and I have come to realize that you absolutely need to enjoy every moment in your life. You never know how things might change in the future. Some places will improve over time. Some places will become abandoned and worse some will disappear all together. So enjoy every day of your life now while you you still can. I love that your family took a lot of pictures. What a great comparison. Cheers!
I love New Mexico. It has a certain vibe and a certain smell that you can only get there. Whether your burning pinon in the fire, the smell of roasted green chile or just the air in the mountains. The dark clouds and the sound of rain and thunder in the distance also bring back memories. I live in Tokyo now but my parents were originally from New Mexico. Always enjoy going back and visiting relatives.
that was real nice stuff. Reminds me of my childhood. My parents started with tents, and moved to a tent trailer and eventually to a couple of trailers. Did a 46 night trip across Canada and back through the USA from Atlantic to Pacific with a 13 foot Sprite travel trailer in summer of 1977. Those are some great memories, and probably why I still love RVing today. Keep up the great work, and as always safe travels.
the important thing in life is to create memories ..because they are the only thing that will one day make us feel good ....from Italy (google translate)..😉...an inspiration for my carcamping video..✌️🇮🇹🇺🇸
I was in tears while I watch your content chad. At first i was amazed about the beatiful scenery and of course the amazing van. But as I continue to watch, you started to reflect on your family's past as you grew together with your family i started to reflect on my family as well. I've started to ask my self what could happen to us my family after 30 yrs what I could have done for my family after 30 yrs. And then i started to have tears as i watch. Thanks chad. very meaningful to my heart.
I took a similar trip as this one. Took my son, 8 years old at the time, and hiked a 2-day trail and stayed in an old stone cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains that me and my Dad hiked when I was 8, 30 years earlier. Cabin was just as I remembered it.
The time lapse of the VLA was stunning, i camped near your childhood campsite last year on my way up Bursum road from Mogollon, i camped at willow creek. i love the Gila and will definitely go back. The Ponderosa forest smells really good there.
This is by far my favorite video you have made. It brought back some memories I had forgotten about camping when I was really little. We had an old dark blue 60s Dodge pickup with a camper on it, similar to what you guys had back then. We used to camp somewhere in Little Natchez (WA) on the river, I'm not sure if it was off Hwy 410 or Hwy 12, but I loved it there so much. My dad had us grab some of the moss that had dried and turned black to bring back to my mom and had us convince her it was bear hair. She was not amused when she figured it out. I love how my dad used us kids to torment my mother. LOL When you were narrating as you went through the burned-out area, I could hear in your voice some longing describing what it used to look like, and it was bittersweet. It made me cry because I've revisited some of my favorite places as a kid and would be so stoked to go. You go back so you can feel like you are going home in a way and when you get there, it feels a little hollow because it just isn't the same as you remembered. Trees are gone, population has crept up, or other things that have made the magical feeling go away you had as a kid go away. There's a lake in E. WA that we used to go to every 4th of July that I'm wanting to go back to, and I'm thinking I will. I've checked it out on Google Earth and there have been just a few changes, it looks pretty much the same as it did back in the day. After watching this, I'm thinking I need to make some reservations for next summer and go. Even though things aren't quite the same as you remember, I hope you got some peace from your visit. It is so beautiful there, I really appreciate you sharing it with us, along with the pictures of your childhood. This video was a really special one. ❤
I just found your channel recently and as a Jeeper, I am just getting into my van build. I've loved each video I've watched so far, but I shed a tear or two on this one. I've never done that watching RUclips, but watching you reminisce about camping with your family took me right back to camping with my grandparents as a kid. When I visit someplace they took me 30+ years ago, it's reminds me of how important they were to me and how lucky I was to have them. I guess this is why we like getting lost in ourselves in the middle of nowhere so often. Hope to bump into you on the trail some day. I appreciate you, man.
No doubt in my mind, that you enjoyed making this video far more than any of us enjoyed watching it (which I know I enjoyed it). Crazy walking down memory lane, hey?
Awesome video. My wife and I have raised our daughter in New Mexico. She has camped all over this state. I hope she looks back fondly on her memories like one day like you are. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome back man! I live in Silver City and film most of my RUclips videos out in the Gila and surrounding areas. It's so great to see another creator's take on this area. Also, it was seriously cool that you had all those old family photos of camping out here in the Gila.
I can feel it! Family, place, and connection are powerful things. We each have our own, and they're irreplaceable. Returning to those places conjures vivid memories and longing for joyful experiences of the past. Outstanding video. Thank you!
Your life came full circle and you reconnected with your past. Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us, Chad. I grew up in Las Vegas, NM in the late 80’s…I understand!
Great job on this one Chad! We all have the camping memories. My parents “parked” their popup in my great uncle’s farm field. We “camped” there every weekend. I will always remember those good times in the “backwoods” of farm town Pennsylvania. As always.. I enjoy your work. ❤
Thank you Chad! It's been a challenging. couple of months, but you reminded me every time I have the opportunity to just, "stop!!": take a breathe and take in my surroundings. It allows us as individuals to pour out life's stresses and take in its beauty.. Seriously, thanks my friend.. 🙂 Have a good one....🙂Peace...--- I wanted to say thank you, as well for sharing some of your childhood memories with us. From rge sounds of it, you and your family shared some great times. 🙂
#bam! Thank you Chad for sharing your childhood life story 🙏 ❤️ your parents are the cutest ever. You're amazing and we all know it! #weloveyou🥰 You're talent is freaking incredible. #LTVL
I just have to say, this is one of my top #5 fav videos you have shared with us. It triggers so many memories of my childhood as well. Everything about this is my favorite! Thanks for sharing, Chad!! 🤜🤛✌️
Chad your one of my best "go to" on YT. Its been a great ride with you on your outstanding journeys. You inspire me to get out more then I already am and explore new areas. This life we have is great and it wouldn't be that great without you " Living the van life" I think the best part of your videos is the beginning to the end filled with great views from the drone and not leaving out any details. Your stories and reasons are interesting along with your camping tactics. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing and be safe!!!!
Wow this was beautiful and had me in tears! My childhood is very similar...we traveled all over the place in the pickup truck and camper. I keep a couple pics on my van visor. When I cleaned out my dad's house I found all the slides that were taken of those times...I just need to figure out how to use the projector so that I can see them all! Thank you for sharing your story it was very moving and the videos and scenery are just BEAUTIFUL! I have New Mexico on my list of trips but I had no idea about this area in your video. Definitely going! Your videos just keep getting better and better. Thank you for all you do!
I, too, grew up in New Mexico! The high desert mountains near Los Alamos. My parents would take my sister and I around the state as well as southwest Colorado. What an amazing part of the world to be in. I took my wife there recently, and she said it touched her soul. Great videos!
What a beautiful, stunning video and story. My Dad passed away suddenly at the age of 56 and I was 25 in 1989. A year later I set out on my journey out west recollecting the memories he gave our family. I'm glad I did it then and may go out again before it's all over. Thank you for sharing your memories. I had an old friend who was ranching that area when I lived in Colorado who described the places you showed us.
My mom was born and raised in Soccorro, NM 😊 You showcase the scenery in such a stunning way! Beautiful job, thank you! I live in Northern California, where so many fires have ravaged the forests and wiped out a town. It is a feeling I find hard to find the right words to describe. Then there are the beautiful mountain roads decimated by progress. The timing of your return visit is so perfect. Everything is so clean and green.
6:15pm I used to do business around Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Cloudcroft and El Paso area way back in 1990, but I never had the pleasure of seeing what you shared in this very cool video…made me homesick for that part of the world. Just great work on this one, thank you!
Happy to know that the Catwalks are open again. With the priority of infrastructure enhancements to National Parks (and Monuments to a lesser degree), it’s hard to tell if or when anything else will be maintained on our public lands. Love The Gila! Love The Mogollón! I wish the USFS could love them as much.
This brought happy memory tears. My dad would load us up in the van every summer. Some summers we'd stay in state and go to different lakes, and most summers we would travel to different states. '80, after Mt. St. Helens blew, we traveled all of the western states. Thanks for the memory trip. 😊
What an awesome video! I really enjoyed seeing the family photos, and the areas where you camped 3 decades ago, then and now. Thank you for sharing your memories with us. ❤😊
Now this why I stay up late for.... to watch this epic content!! Thank you Sir!! hopefully you can come to New Zealand and tour our amazing Islands while living the van life!!
I've really been needing a goodness fix lately, thanks Chad, you made my day on this one. You are very fortunate in your upbringing and to share those old photos at the places they were taken, and with such a deep sense of deep gratitude warms the heart. Keep on trucking dude, and keep on keepin' on.
Your musings about your childhood makes me think back and appreciate my own childhood and how I want to make my childrens’ childhood something special.
Thank you for sharing, and taking me back to my neck of the woods!! I was born and raised in that area! We camped a lot in the Gila wilderness quite a bit, my Dad didn’t like any other vacations other than camping. That’s why I enjoy being out camping so very much. My Dad and I did a pack trip on horses one year up to Mogollon Baldy one of the best memories I recall often! Thanks again for sharing! Absolutely love your vlogs!!!! ❤️🏕️🔥
Chad I love you stories of growing up out in nature with your family. The memories that will take you through life are priceless. Thank you so much for sharing them. Take care.
Chad, your content and production is far superior to any channel I follow. This regardless of you being a one man operation versus a camera crew etc. Your sound is so much a part of your art and I absolutely love it.
Chad, you look just like your dad. Awesome family memories ❤ I always enjoy videos and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for sharing them.
Very surreal indeed Chad, especially since those are the exact same locations I grew up. Pretty sure that was the same campsite we used to use 😁 I just fished there last month Great video, thank you
I agree, stunning cinematography and editing/post production. Made even better by the wonderful story and images of your family's history there. Well done!
Chad: I've been watching your work for a long time, and you have always delivered a superior product to us here to enjoy. Every episode just builds upon another with increasing skill and expertise in the cinemographic field. However, this production that you have released to us here today is by far the greatest accomplishment you have done to date. All of your previous endeavors have displayed your skills, talents, and abilities, which are equal to or better than most of your contemporaries. Today you opened your very soul and displayed your very essence and being of who you really are; you answered the question of what is it that makes the man? Your humility and reverence for your parents, while sharing their personal contributions to your growth as an individual is such a testimony that is rarely seen today. Have a blessed week brother.
Truly, amazing video, thank you so much. I camped out once (solo) along the Gila River on a sandy beach next to a natural Hot Springs. It was one of my life’s truly magic memories.
Wow. Yep, I was in a zone of awe for a bit. What a great tribute video! Your photography shows so well the beauty of New Mexico. I love the balance of things you have in the vids. Gorgeous wide ranging drone shots, close shots of your girl going through the waters and muds ;)) and the music is great. Always. I have to say, I missed the meal prep and 3 fingers shots though. ;) Can't wait for the next one!
Hey Chad, wish I would have known you were coming to NM. I love the Gila, glad to see Snow Lake full. The road through Mogollon is a little different now after the big flood that almost took the town a few years back after the big White Water Baldy fire. We've got a place there in Mogollon.
OMG Chad! Have followed your channel for a while, and your films are always inspiring. This one to that to another level... Thanks for sharing what was quite obviously quite a personal journey... You clearly lead the way when it comes to Van Life film making. Head and shoulders over the other - Keep them coming 👍👍
I can smell the pine trees, feel the humidity from the rain. Those long ago special places change with our life passages. It is kind of like an old neighborhood one grew up in. It is never the exactly same place twice.
I can feel the sincerity from this video. I know this is personal for you. Great cinematography man! One of the core memories for us is travelling with our families and loved one. Great example from this video. Thanks man!
Hi Chad! So nice to see you. This Video was terrific, as usual. You brought your memories to life again as you retraced your steps. Working on this must have been a real pleasure. Thank you for sharing your childhood memories-loved it. 😊
What a beautiful nostalgic video chad. My husband and I enjoyed it so Much. I'm sure you had an amazing time making it. Reliving your childhood and the amazing memories you have. ❤️ blessings
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO THAT MAKES ME THINK ABOUT HOW YOU WERE MUCH HAPPIER AT A VERY YOUNG AGE AND WHEN ALMOST ALL THE RELATIVES AND FAMILIES WERE ALIVE BETTER LIFE AS CHILDREN INSTEAD OF ADULTS !!!!!
This video was very touching and introspective to me. It reminded me of when I would go camping with my Dad growing up and visiting national parks with my Mom. Definitely why I have a love for nature and the backroads today. 💕 Also made me sad, just a reminder how precious time really is..
I loved watching this video and seeing the photos of your family while you were growing up. When I was young, my family and I would go to Virginia Beach every summer and go to WV to look at the foliage in the fall. I love your videos.
Hey Chad, missed you and it’s good to see you. Thank you for sharing your good memories. As always, your cinematography is beautiful. Your background music is always on point and this video is no exception. Thanks so much for your contributions to the art.
Chad, I have been misty-eyed since this video started, choked up by the wonderful childhood memories and the beginning of your life well-lived out in God's nature. Stunning cinematography! Thank you Chad for allowing us a glimpse into some of your most cherished memories from your childhood and unforgettable times with your family! The nostalgia brings tears to my eyes.
Same, nicely said.
Definitely!
Chad, this episode was deep.
New Mexico is such an amazing state!!
Gorgeous National Forests!!
The Catwalk is magical🌟

Yet again, another great quality production and I also spotted a Honda CX500 Deluxe in those family photos fitted with its WindJammer Fairing! :)
Great video! 😃👍
the important thing in life is to create memories ..because they are the only thing that will one day make us feel good ....from Italy (google translate)..😉...an inspiration for my carcamping video..✌️🇮🇹🇺🇸
Spent three years in NM in the early 70's. Had a '69 VW van. I covered as much as I could. Favorite place is probably Valles Caldera. Pretty special.
I was in tears while I watch your content chad. At first i was amazed about the beatiful scenery and of course the amazing van. Chadillac is back! Let’s goooo
So cute, you gave him a nick name 😊😊
The guy from Battle Born Battery gave Chad that name. Chadillac!
The time lapse of the VLA was stunning, i camped near your childhood campsite last year on my way up Bursum road from Mogollon, i camped at willow creek. i love the Gila and will definitely go back. The Ponderosa forest smells really good there.
Chad you could teach a Master Class on editing the appropriate music into a video. No one else comes close.

Wow. Thank you for this one. I’m from NM, I also live the #vanlife. This reminds me of why I live the life I live. Thanks Chad.

Loved the old family photos! What great memories! Reminds me of the times I had with my kids in the Cascades of Oregon...
My childhood involved tent camping in North Carolina at age six months. I now have a teardrop camper. The outdoors is mesmerizing, isn't it?
Phenomenal photography. One of the best RUclips channels out there. This should be on cable
Your life came full circle and you reconnected with your past. Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us, Chad. I grew up in Las Vegas, NM in the late 80’s…I understand!
Love waking up on a day off with the van life video ✌🏻

You know it is something that where you go makes show how big our country is! Nice job!
Born and raised in Deming, New Mexico. I agree, New Mexico is home to many memories and is truly "The Land Of Enchantment"
We spent some time in Deming when we lived down there! What’s even funnier is when we moved from Las Cruces, we moved to Deming WA! LOL
Thank you Chad for sharing your family memories.

Nicely done video Chad. You really did a good job with the story and the old photographs. Well done!
Your the best true story teller ever please don't stop. Mon Ami ❤
I, too, grew up in New Mexico! The high desert mountains near Los Alamos.

You gave me the inspiration into starting my own Vanlife. Here next to the Rockies in Canada.
This brought happy memory tears. My dad would load us up in the van every summer. Some summers we'd stay in state and go to different lakes, and most summers we would travel to different states. '80, after Mt. St. Helens blew, we traveled all of the western states. Thanks for the memory trip. 😊

I'd say spectacular as always, but no, this was something special. You touched the heart and soul of many of us who were fortunate to see this. Brovo.
I've really been needing a goodness fix lately, thanks Chad, you made my day on this one. You are very fortunate in your upbringing and to share those old photos at the places they were taken, and with such a deep sense of deep gratitude warms the heart. Keep on trucking dude, and keep on keepin' on.
The start to this video was magical. Amazing cinematography!
Your musings about your childhood makes me think back and appreciate my own childhood and how I want to make my childrens’ childhood something special.
Amazing filmography, editing, angles, scenery, everything, you know how to put a good video.
Thanks, Chad for Sharing a little of your family history with us.
Chad I love you stories of growing up out in nature with your family. The memories that will take you through life are priceless. Thank you so much for sharing them. Take care.
If we could turn back times but they remains in our heart and mind where they will never fade away… as always awesome video Chad ❤❤❤ it
Chad, your content and production is far superior to any channel I follow.
Pretty sure that was the same campsite we used to use 😁
I just fished there last month
Great video, thank you
I agree, stunning cinematography and editing/post production. Made even better by the wonderful story and images of your family's history there. Well done!
Thank you Chad for sharing another awesome video
Chad thanks for uploading superb adventure, camera work editing just wow
Great video Chad. Lovely country too. Great memories there for you, thanks for sharing!
Great video Chad. I love the nostalgia. Seeing your old family photos brought back memories of my childhood. Thank you for that.
Hey Chad, wish I would have known you were coming to NM. I love the Gila, glad to see Snow Lake full. The road through Mogollon is a little different now after the big flood that almost took the town a few years back after the big White Water Baldy fire. We've got a place there in Mogollon.
Chad you are truly "LIVING THE LIFE" in a van. Amazing footage my brother. So much to see and live right here at home man.
Awesome video as always Chad. Thanks for sharing some of those awesome pictures and memories of your family and your childhood.

Outstanding cinematography! Your videos keep getting better. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
OMG Chad! Have followed your channel for a while, and your films are always inspiring. This one to that to another level... Thanks for sharing what was quite obviously quite a personal journey... You clearly lead the way when it comes to Van Life film making. Head and shoulders over the other - Keep them coming 👍👍
Thanks for giving us something special again, Chad. 🙂
I can smell the pine trees, feel the humidity from the rain. Those long ago special places change with our life passages. It is kind of like an old neighborhood one grew up in. It is never the exactly same place twice.
That was so cool, thanks for sharing such personal memories. You had a cool dad and mom!

89 was the year I was born. What great cinematography and story telling
Also made me sad, just a reminder how precious time really is..
