    I missed out on going to university and regretted it for a long time. I am now in my 2nd year of classical studies Ba and I love it. I am a single mum to four beautiful children so I study with the open university. I have learnt so much and it's shown the children that it's never too late. I loved the video. Thank you xxx

    One important thing I've learned during my 24 years of age is to be unapologetically yourself. There is no better feeling than being content with who you are no matter what.

    • @KarissaPukas

      Re word it- Everyone puts themselves as a priority and does what they think is best in a situation- and that's OK! The more we step outside our box and remember that everyone else doesn't really know how to 'life' either and are usually doing the best they can, the more empathy you have and less jaded you become about it :)

      Karissa Pukas you worded that perfectly! That's something I've been trying to come to terms with recently..... thanks for putting a positive spin on things! I wish I could like bookmark this comment or something hahaha, that really resonated with me.

    i wish the 'if you want it and try hard you'll get it' thing was actually how the world worked. at 26 i believed it; at 30.... sometimes things just don't work out. not everyone gets what they want. 'go out and do it' also really only applies to certain people with who already have certain advantages. :/
    i love and appreciate your positivity, and i also consider myself to be an optimist, but my list would include 'always have a backup plan.' also, 'know how to take care of yourself physically.'

    • @KarissaPukas
      @KarissaPukas  7 лет назад +23

      I respectfully disagree. You may have to be flexible, but you can always work towards what you want as an end goal and achieve some version of it regardless of who you are. Backup plans arn't a bad idea but relying on them creates a totally different mentality and you will lead a different life. Just my two cents tho :)

      I totally agree. I'm in my last semester of college for elementary education and as a teacher you can't really "work harder" to get material things/vacations. Sure, you can save money for years and years, but actually working hard/putting in more effort won't get you there any faster.

    Aww I loved this video so much Karissa, made me get a little teary even! 😅 Your 26 things resonated so well with me... but one other thing i've learned in my 22 years would be to tell people I love them more often, because tomorrow's never guaranteed 💗

    I am turning 26 at the end of this month!! So crazy to be closer to 30 than 20 but I've heard 30's are great so I'm not too upset! I agree totally with all of your lessons. One big thing I've learned is not to talk badly about others behind their back, it will usually come back to bite you and it never reflects positively on you.

    I didn't realize how much I actually needed to hear these "lessons". I'm going through a very low spot in my life and health and this made me realize that I don't have to dwell on it. It doesn't have to center my mind. I will take time for myself, I will be grateful for every day, I will save that extra money, I will...be happy. Thank you Karissa. Thank you so much.

    💘 you! I just turned 34 years old and I love my 30's versus my 20's. I have learned so much the last few years about myself more than anything. Mainly,like you said, to invest in yourself. I am a recovering heroin addict and i have been clean and free over 2 years. Since then I have got to know myself (although its scary) more than anything. Invest in yourself ladies! You deserve respect!

  • @mshudsonr

    Worded beautifully and i couldn't agree more. Another thing I would add is, get enough sleep! There is no reason to overload your days or party every night for the sake of being 'busy' I feel like we live in this world where being over worked and constantly doing something is held higher than taking care of your physical and mental state. Take time to re-charge or you will just wear yourself down to a shell of a human.

    I absolutely agree with learning to do things by yourself!! Speaking from personal experience I have missed out on many opportunities because I was scared to go alone or thought I would need someone else with me in order to gain something from the event. Going to an event with friends is great, but going solo will allow you to reflect more and worry about how YOU felt.

    I've learned that no one is responsible for your own happiness but yourself. Don't ever get in a relationship or be afraid to get out of one just because you think the other person "makes you happy". You are happy or unhappy because you let yourself be! 😊

  • @ChandaDeeMcBride
    @ChandaDeeMcBride 7 лет назад +5

    I am 45 and these 26 things are so spot on!! Awesome awesome life lessons! The only things that I would add are these : don't judge a book by it's cover, ie: don't be so judgmental, you don't know why someone is the way they are. And, practice acceptance. When you are disturbed and you can accept a person, place or situation -some fact of your life, for being the way it is supposed to be, the less you will spend on unhealthy emotions. accept it, deal with it, and move on. Do not focus on what needs changed in the world instead focus on what needs changed in you. 💜🐼

    Love this video Karissa! I think the biggest thing I've learnt, and I've only started to realise this this year, is stop relying on other people! For everything, for your happiness, your motivation, financial security, whatever it is. It's fine to ask for an receive help but at the end of the day it's only you and you're the one that needs to take control of your own life and have a plan there for when shit hits the fan and other people aren't around to help you.

    I have so much time for this video, I think one of the best things I have learnt is;
    'Don't be a victim of life' - you don't have to just accept that you are bad at something, or you aren't wealthy, or that most people's idea of a 'good' life means to grow up, get a high paying job, get married, get a house & have children....I could go on
    You have released an extra bit of positivity into my day, thank you! ✌🏼🙌🏻

    Up until recently I always put things off because it was "too hard"!
    6 months ago I was diagnosed with a large brain tumour (now removed and I'm in recovery) and I realised life is way to short! My husband and I are now building our first house! And I've set time for myself to focus on my health! I've removed myself from "toxic friendships" and I spend more time on me instead of others.
    Loved this video! Very inspiring!
    And..... I'm so sad that I can't have laser hair removal as I'm
    A red head and apparently it will not work on me! I'm devastated! Sending Love ❤️

    Honestly the one thing I've learned is that having a baby really does show you who's a true friend! Luckily my closest friends stuck by me 100%. In a way I don't blame them though cause most 19/20 year olds want to be out travelling not sat at a friends house cooing over a baby. now at 23 and her being 3 I couldn't ask for better 'aunts and uncles' to be in her life

    This was a very lovely video, I am currently having problems finding my first job as an engineer, I got my degree one month ago, and what I've been doing in the meantime is investing a little more in myself, like in my knowledge, my health, doing some conscious workout for the first time in my life, I gained 44 pounds in the last 4 years and it's really giving me a hard time, I don't like to look like this :( Your videos are helping me a lot, please keep on being as honest and true as possible, you really make a difference. Love from Mexico City. Please excuse my English, as it's not my native language, but I do what I can. 😅

    Lovely video! As a dentist, one of the most important things I have learned in my 20+ years is to take care of your teeth! We get this one permanent set, and no dentures or implants will ever be able to replace them. Brush, floss, use a mouth rinse, and smile every day
